WHAT WOMEN WANT will be released on February 17. Director Chen Daming, actors Andy Lau Tak Wa, Gong Li, Banny Chen, Yuan Li and others yesterday attended a Shanghai press conference. Two nights ago at the Beijing premiere, Wa Jai appeared in a black suit while Gong Li wore a silver evening gown.

At the Shanghai press conference, Wa Jai who was able to hear women's thoughts in the film was called "Casanova". Gong Li was called "Queen". They did not seem to care about the titles. The media asked Gong Li whether she felt like she was the queen. She said, "This is just a promotion, it's not bad! I like it very much. Queen in my heart is a very high position, I thank you for giving me this title." Wa Jai joked, "Everyone called me Heavenly King, I wouldn't really think I am a Heavenly King!"

They both have seen the original film but Gong Li felt that the Chinese version had more advantage. "In comparison to the 80s, after adaptation WHAT WOMEN WANT was filled with emotion and more charming. It added even more Chinese culture into it, the advantage is very strong." Wa Jai also said that all remake would be compared with the original. "INFERNAL AFFAIRS (MO GAN DOH) was remade in the U.S. We would feel it wasn't as good as ours but Americans liked it. The markets are different. WHAT WOMEN WANT was remade for the East. The biggest different was we are more reserved, the love and interpersonal relationships are more real."

The film WHAT WOMEN WANT starting yesterday held a series of promotions in the Mainland. Director Chen Daming led actors including Andy Lau Tak Wa, Gong Li, Banny Chen (Chen Chi Peng), Du Juan, Tao Jia and Mavis Pan Shuangshuang to attend a Beijing press conference. The film's intimate and bed scenes became the media focus, but to Lau Tak Wa who has not made a romantic film the feeling was strange. Wa Jai said that he would rather make an action film and take a beating than work on a bed scene. He even joked that he was bad at bed scenes. He pointed out that many thought that bed scenes would be very relaxing and all you needed to
do was lie there, but he disagreed. Actually bed scenes often required tossing and turning, which was exhausting. In particular sleeping on a bed but cannot truly sleep was truly hard to take.

Wa Jai had romantic scenes with Gong Li and Yuan Li. Yuan Li was very excited when she learned about intimate scenes with Wa Jai and was prepared for her first bed scene. Unfortunately the director cut it. WHAT WOMEN WANT was lead actress Gong Li's first romantic comedy and her first collaboration with Wa Jai. She was both nervous and excited. Gong Li said that she was truly nervous when she first met Wa Jai because he was known for being serious and a good actor. Gong Li thanked Wa Jai for helping her a lot. Playing a man who could hear women's thoughts in the film, Wa Jai felt it was very interesting. It mentioned the caring between people. When he heard their thoughts he had to take action in order for it to be useful.
