DVD Releases October 19, 2010

Time to take a look at the Tuesday October 19, 2010 DVD releases! The biggie this week is definitely Predators, which although there are lots of films between it and the original Predator it's a straight-to-sequel tone.

One film that I'm certainly looking forward to this week is Agora, a biopic on the Greek scholar, philosopher and mathematician Hypatia (played by Rachel Weisz) and it's very interesting difference in the covers between the Canadian & US versions where we have the one with Rachel Weisz front and centre whereas the US is triptych style adding 2 fellows from the cast. Look for DVD review of Agora later this week! A fantastic film that's out this week is Fruit Fly, a musical following Bethesda who stays in a communal living space bringing little space but many new friends and connections into the gay and arts communities - it's loads of fun. On the horror front we have rock'n'roll party centric Night of the Demons (2009), a remake of the 1988 film of the same name.

I've got a big list of films I want to see that are being released this week, starting off strong with the Red Riding Trilogy a crime saga which has been getting rave reviews and has a stellar cast including Andrew Garfield, David Morrissey and Paddy Considine. Also out is drama Please Give, horror sequel Mirrors 2 and Journey to Promethea which is a completely new title to me but it stars Billy Zane looks sword & sandaly.

We also have the Disney's nature documentary Oceans and comedy Six Wives of Henry Lefay TV on DVD we have the original Bionic Woman Season 1 starring Lindsay Wagner.

Several reduxes and re-issues this week including the super snazzy ultimate editions of both Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire which have some pretty awesome packaging & extras and it's one of the few super special editions I'd consider getting, mostly because the Harry Potter films are one of the few DVDs that I've actual worn out through rewatching. Also new issues out of both Twilight & New Moon in single disc versions.
