[2012.02.19] MAVIS FAN ALMOST TRIPS ON HER OWN DRESS

courtesy of takungpao.com

The Tsui Hark directed 3D wuxia film FLYING SWORDS OF DRAGON GATE (LUNG MOON FEI GAP) two nights ago appeared in Berlin.  He and his wife Shi Nansun, actors Mavis Fan Hiu Huen and Kwai Lun-Mei promoted there.  An avid tattoo fan, Siu Huen at the press conference and the premiere without hesitation displayed her arm tattoo and her wild side.  At the press conference she stepped on her long dress, luckily she did not embarrass herself.

At the press conference, Tsui Hark said that kung fu director King Hu (Wu Kam Chuen) could be said as his mentor.  His film DRAGON GATE INN was one of his favorite films.  20 years ago, he had a chance to remake NEW DRAGON GATE INN and over 2 years of working with Wu Kam Chuen he benefited a lot.  Thus FLYING SWORDS OF DRAGON GATE was a continuation of his memory and emotions as well as a salute to Wu Kam Chuen.  Shi Nansun said, "FLYING SWORDS OF DRAGON GATE has been interpreted continuously, like a Shakespearean play it is a classic is worth making and making again.  3D film is a very interesting attempt.  I believe the themes of love, friendship and justice was values that the entire world share."

An avid fan of the tattoo art, Siu Huen wore a long dress that showed off her exaggerated arm tattoo.  Yet she accidentally stepped on her dress and almost embarrassed herself in front of the foreign media.  She said that she has always been a Tsui Hark fan and hoped to play in the film a "water like woman".  Although it was very abstract the role was able to trigger her imagination.  At night she showed her wild side in a fiery short dress.

Kwai Lun-mei revealed that this year she has already received a great dramatic film and hoped to be able to get a musical film.  Speaking of her BLUE GATE CROSSING co-star Chen Bo-Lin, Siu Mei admitted because they wanted it to be perfect too much they have been very cautious with their collaboration opportunities.  She also very "ambitiously" said, "I really want us to grow up to a silver screen couple in the future like (Maggie) Cheung Man Yuk and (Tony) Leung Chiu Wai."

Still in Berlin to promote her husband Wang Quanan's WHITE DEER PLAIN, Kitty Zhang Yuqi humbly said that her male co-stars motivated her WHITE performance.  She even said that when working with actors of different styles she felt like she was riding a roller coaster.  Zhang Yuqi who still has not have a wedding ceremony with her husband admitted that she hoped to have it soon after her husband finished promoting this film and she would like to become a mother soon as well.

The fresh out of the oven Best Actress Deanie Ip Tak Han two nights ago celebrated with A SIMPLE LIFE (TOH JEH) team.  As the international Best Actress, she said that her life changed a little but she has not have too many celebrations.  Did she get a raise?  She humorously said, "That would depend on whether I have to strip."

The film A SIMPLE LIFE earlier won many awards at the Venice Film Festival and even made Ip Tak Han the first Hong Kong actress to win the Venice Best Actress.  To celebration the film's good performance, two nights ago the team including director Ann Hui On Wa, Ip Tak Han, Andy Lau Tak Wa, Helena Law Lan, Paul Chun Pui and Kung Suet Fa attended the celebration.  Responsible for editing, Shi Nansun said that every time she watched A SIMPLE LIFE she would be moved to tears.  Later when they posed with the four awards for photos, Hui On Wa accidentally dropped one.

Although she has already become an international Best Actress, Ip Tak Han has not met with any friend for dinner to celebrate yet.  She only had instant noodle at home to reward herself.  Her family praised her with "good job" and "well done".  As for Wa Jai stating that he would not give her any gift, she agreed, "No need!  I don't have to be greedy, he already gave me a great opportunity."  For now no one has approached her about a movie.  Did she get a raise?  She said, "Few movies would be about seniors, I would worry about it when someone asks.  Let's see if I have to strip."  She also said that the award changed her life a little because lately the paparazzi often followed her.  Yet she was not bothered.  She only thought that they were flying over roofs and climbing over walls like lizards.  If she was their mother her heart would ache very much.

In addition, A SIMPLE LIFE will be released next year.  However in order to compete for the Golden Horse Award and the Hong Kong Film Award it will have advanced screening.  Wa Jai said that he was not
certain of the operation.  Was he confident about winning Best Actor?  He stated that he did not dare to say.  He was rumored to ask Maggie Cheung Man Yuk, Cherie Chung Chor Hung and Rosamund Kwan Chi Lam to work on a film, Wa Jai said, "I was rumored to ask Kwan Chi Lam to play Sister Peach too.  Actually of course I hope this group of backbone to make movies in front of our eyes again, but for now I haven't contacted them about movies.  I only approached them about the concert.  (Was it because their salaries were too much?)  The market decides the salary, as long as the market can withstand it then it is fine."  Would he enjoy this film with his family.  He immediately said that he would not respond to family matter.

Charlene Choi Cheuk Yin arrived at the Venice Film Festival to promote the film THE SORCERER AND THE WHITE SNAKE (BAK SEH CHUEN SHUET), in which she played the Green Snake. Was she worried that the audience would compare her to Maggie Cheung Man Yuk's classic Green Snake? Ah Sa was not concerned. "Because there is no comparison, Cheung Man Yuk is the Best Actress!"
Ah Sa hoped to see Cheung Man Yuk at the film festival. She said, "She is my super idol, my goddess. She has played GREEN SNAKE. I can play this role, which I am truly happy about; however, my character is different from hers. Her performance is more devilish and feminine, my Green Snake is happy and cute."

[2011.07.09] WILLIE CHAN HOPES HIS DESTINY HAS NOT ENDED WITH JACKIE CHAN

courtesy of takungpao.com

Cable Entertainment News interviewed master class manager Willie Chan Chi Keung to be on its program. Chan Chi Keung has never been interviewed over his years as an artist manager. Chan Chi Keung single handled made many superstars. He excitedly shared about his "children". "I really love (Jacky Cheung) Hok Yau, who is both loyal and honorable. (Cherie) Chung Chung Hung is more coy, she and (Maggie) Cheung Man Yuk today still call me 'Old Man'."

Jackie Chan was the first artist who worked with Chan Chi Keung, but their relationship ended after 37 years out of the blue. Chan Chi Keung explained, "I slowly feel this red carpet doesn't need me to walk with him......maybe he has his own plane, I don't need to keep him company. So I might as well leave myself......" he continued, "If you ask me whether I would miss it, of course I would. Over 37 years I deserved some credit. I feel I have already helped Jackie reach his career peak. Maybe many people want to ask me, how did Jackie Chan repay you? I feel I don't need to think about that. If the amount you want and the amount in his heart are different, you would be unhappy. Why bother thinking about it." Although he missed this relationship, Chan Chi Keung still spoke well about Jackie Chan. "Actually Jackie is very kind. He wouldn't hurt anyone. What he does he doesn't need the outside to judge right or wrong." Chan Chi Keung said, "I hope our destiny hasn't ended......ultimately the human heart is made of flesh." Chan Chi Keung honestly said that now he has already let everyone go and is able to be friends again with Jackie Chan.

Gold label manager Willie Chan Chi Keung two nights ago turned 70 and booked a bar and restaurant in Tsim Sha Tsui to celebrate with over 100 guests. Former artists who he managed and friends came, even superstars like Pak Shuet Sin, Cherie Chung Chor Hung and Maggie Cheung Man Yuk appeared.

Two nights ago the birthday party took place under yellow storm and thunder warnings. Willie said originally he booked a hotel restaurant for the occasions, but unexpected many guests asked to come. Finally the event had to relocate to the restaurant two nights ago to be able to entertain over 100 guests. Willie also had to send another invitation to inform guests of the location change. Two nights ago guests were not less spectacular than any award show. Sister Sin was dressed in purple, Hung Goo was dressed in blue and Cheung Man Yuk was dressed in black. Other guests included Cally Kwong Mei Wan, Lee Lam Lam and John Chiang Dai Wai, Deborah Li and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Yeung Sau Sing, Teresa Mo Shun Kwan and husband Au Ting Ping, Josie Ho Chiu Yi and Chan Chi Chung, Cecilia Yip Tung and Chan Kwok Fun, Ti Lung and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Heung Wa Keung, Chiu Nga Chi and Melvin Wong Kam Sun, Stanley Kwan Kam Peng and others.

The guests declined any media interview to keep from stealing the birthday boy's thunder. Lee Lam Lam who has been rumored to be with cancer was asked about her condition. She turned around and said to everyone, "You can see. Thank you for caring, but tonight's star is Chan Chi Keung." Lam Ka Tung said that he asked friends in the industry to make a video for the birthday boy. Kwong Mei Wan said that she gave a wallet. New god son Juno Mak Chun Lung appeared in a long dress.

Jackie Chan, Daniel Wu (Ng Yin Cho) and Louis Koo Tin Lok did not attend because they were out of town. Willie said that Jackie Chan who was in France sent purple orchid, which was at home. Ng Yin Cho called at midnight and promised to celebrate again later. Willie said, "Some smart ass friends didn't know what to give and joked that no present would be fine. Everyone actually really cared about me in their hearts. The gift that I want the most is just forever love and care from friends." Willie Said that he prepared 240 bottles of red and white wine and whiskey, hoping that everyone would have fun to the utmost. As for birthday wish, Willie said, "Starting this year every birthday will be the 70th, because the number 70 sounds very sad and very scary, but I am very happy to receive everyone's respect."

Cheung Man Yuk arrived before the storm. Willie saw Maggie and said, "I am very happy to see Maggie flying back to celebrate with this 'Old Man', I truly am very happy. If you keep asking, I would cry." As for memorable memories of Chan Chi Keung, Maggie said, "I was very little, around 19 or 20 I was with him. He taught me many things. I remembered back then he told me to stop buying clothes, and I really cut back. So today no matter what I have to attend." Willie earlier received the Hong Kong Film Award Lifetime Achievement Award. Has Maggie celebrated with him yet? Willie said, "This daughter no matter what award I receive, no matter how far away she is, she would send me text messages."

[2011.04.16] MAGGIE CHEUNG SUPPORTS CARINA LAU FOR BEST ACTRESS

courtesy of takungpao.com

Due to rumors with Tony Leung Chiu Wai, Maggie Cheung Man Yuk and Carina Lau Ka Ling were supposedly at odds. Since then they rarely appeared in public together. This year Ka Ling was nominated for Best Actress with DETECTIVE DEE AND THE MYSTERY OF THE PHANTOM FLAME (TUNG TIN DAI GOK ji DIK YUN KIT). Although Man Yuk has not seen all of the nominated films, she still suported Ka Ling and said that she would win.

Two nights ago Cheung Man Yuk, Li Bingbing, Yan Ni, Fan Bingbing, and Chen Kun attended a certain international label promotion. Speaking of Jeff Lau Chun Wai's new film EAST MEETS WEST 2011 (DONG SING SAI JAU) was she interested as a star of the previous version to guest star? She said no, because it was a new version no old actors should be used. However she still looked forward to it, if it was just as funny as the previous film it would be rather good. Now when she matches that film she would feel it is great. As for her film plans, she said that for now nothing has been confirmed. She said that acting again would be possible as she did not have any retirement plan. However she has not had any suitable character. Was she too demanding? She denied that, only because she made too many films she did not want to repeat herself. Running into something fresh has been hard too.

With the annual Hong Kong Film Award on the way, who would she pick to win Best Actor and Best Actress? She at first said that because she has not seen all the nominated films she declined to make any prediction. Yet when reporters told her Lau Ka Ling was nominated, she immediately said, "Then I hope she wins. I can't think of who would win because I didn't see all the nominated films. As a friend though, she deserves to win."

The Yonfan directed LAST ROMANCE (LAU GUM SHUI YUET) digitally restored version held a premiere at the Cultural center two nights ago. Kenneth Tsang Kong, Chiao Chiao, Elly Leung (Ngok Wa), Tien Lie were other guests. Yonfan said that the film was already 15 years ago, technological improvement truly helped a lot as it seemed to have given the film a face life and even the sounds went through special restoration. He said that the actresses Cherie Chung Chor Hung and Maggie Cheung Man Yuk seemed to have never changed. Tien Lie said that she worked with Alan Tang Kwong Wing three times. When she started in the business she already knew him. When she learned that he passed away, she too felt it was sudden. She said, "I know he passed away in his sleep, which was fortunate. He was a filial and nice son." Ngok Wa immigrated to Canada years ago and only returned to work on series in Hong Kong in recent years. This time he came to support the film.
