The Wilson Yip Wai Shun directed, Donnie Yen Chi Tan, Huang Xiaoming, Sammo Hung Kam Bo, Lynn Xiong (Hung Doi Lam) starred IP MAN 2 has been in production in Shanghai for more than two months. After Yen Chi Tan completed his shoot, Huang Xiaoming who played Ip Man's eldest disciple Wong Chun also completed his shoot in Shanghai recently. On the day of his wrap he prepared five cakes to share with the team as a show of appreciation for everyone's care over the months.
The scene that day had Wong Chun in an alley fight with the eldest disciple of the Sammo Hung Kam Bo played Master Hung. With Wing Tsun Wong Chun had the upper hand, but outnumbered he not only suffered facial injury but was also captured. From 5AM when work began to the afternoon, Huang Xiaoming was very convincing after nearly two months of Wing Tsun training. After completing the scene in which Wong Chun was kicked, the director yelled, "Cut! Congratulations to Xiaoming for wrapping." The entire team relaxed as many workers gathered around Huang Xiaoming for farewell photos and autographs. Even the director jokingly got into the crowd and said, "Then let me get one too."
Because he knew that was the day of his wrap, he asked the team to order five big cakes to thank the team for taking care of him. He did not even remove his make up before personally cutting the cake for everyone. The first piece went to Hung Kam Bo as a show of respect to the master, then he kept asking the team to join him for cake.
Huang Xiaoming said that although he played the hero in many martial art series, this was the first time that he fought with real kung fu. In order to practice Wing Tsun, Huang Xioming turned his hotel room into a small gym with equipment like the wooden man and weights. Everyday he practiced with the wooden man; when he was not in a scene on the set, he practiced with the stunt team; according to the team, Huang Xiaoming would grab them for practice and showed professionalism and focus. Due to the wooden man training, Huang Xiaoming's arms continuously had bruises. After a few months he became a veteran. When asked how well trained he was, he joked, "Taking on one or two at the same time shouldn't be a
problem."
