Worldwide Short Film Festival 2010 Award Winners

Many many shorts have been watched and lots of ballots have been counted. Let's take a look at this years winners for the Worldwide Short Film Festival. The wins bring even more opportunities to the winners as Canadian award winners are eligible for Genie Awards, and winners for Best Live-Action Short and Best Animated Short become eligible for the Academy Awards. Jury members for the 2010 Worldwide Short Film Festival are Jason Ryle, João Garção Borges, Rachelle Lefevre, Jing Haase and Aparna Kapur.

The Jackson-Triggs Award for Best Emerging Canadian Filmmaker
J.B. Sugar for his documentary Wood If

The Deluxe Award for Best Live Action Short
Hamy Ramezan for Over the Fence / Viiko Ennen Vappua

The Deluxe Award for Best Performance in a Live-Action Short
Noni Hazelhurst and Anthony Phelan for A Parachute Falling in Siberia

The Kodak Award for Best Cinematography in a Canadian Short
Cinematographer Maya Bankovic for Slip

Best Animated Short
Joanna Lurie for The Silence Beneath the Bark / Le Silence sous L'Écorce

The Best Experimental Short
Chelsea McMullan for Slip

Best Documentary Short
Vance Malone for The Poodle Trainer

Screenplay Giveaway Prize
