Despicable Me Talks the Lead! Canadian, North American, UK & Australian Box Office July 9, 2010 Weekend

I have to say I'm surprized that Despicable Me took the cake this weekend and roped the #1 spot in Canada and North America, and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse claims the #2 spot in of those both markets but does land #1 in the UK for this, it's opening weekend. The Twilight Saga: Eclipse also now claims the #1 spot for 2010 weekend gross in the UK bringing in an impress £13,756,653. Toy Story 3 returns to the #1 spot in Australia in it's third week of release.

Other new releases on the prowl include Predators, landing in the #3 spot in North America and the UK, and #4 in Canada and Australia, which is impressive considering it's pretty gore and an 18A here (and a lot of fun to boot). Also out is The Girl Who Played With Fire which opened as #12 in Canada and #11 in North America, not bad for a foreign flick!
