Film Fan Fridays for Friday July 16, 2010

Hello Film Fans and Fanatics!

Welcome to Film Fan Fridays for Friday July 16, 2010! Well it's a week of not too many releases, but we do have one of the big powerhouses of the summer: Inception!

In limited release this week we have 4 new releases and they all look fascinating. First up is the highly acclaimed Italian film I Am Love starring Tilda Swinton (I'm still kicking myself I missed it at Inside Out this year!) and another festival film out this week is Mr. Nobody starring Jared Leto in what looks like many permutations as the film has a a whole sci-fi concepts but set in the real world kind of vibe to it, which is not brilliant timing coming out the same week at Inception, but regardless I've very much looking forward to seeing it. Also out this week are 2 documentaries, war documentary Restrepo along with Sweetgrass which follows cowboys leading their flocks of sheep into Montana's Absaroka-Beartooth mountains for summer pasture. Another week with something for everyone!

In wide release this week we have the one and only Inception, and I think it's pretty smart that no other film is going up against this film which seems to be across the board one of the most anticipated films of the year being Christopher Nolan's follow up after The Dark Knight. The buzz on Inception has building for a long time and so far the reviews have be extremely strong, so much so that the only negative thing I've heard was someone calling out another reviewer for having the nerve critisizing it. That's going a *bit* far, but I'll save judgment until I've seen it myself - which will hopefully be very soon! Who could resist a film that stars this cast anyhow: Leonardo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ellen Page, Michael Caine, Ken Watanabe, Marion Cotillard, Tom Hardy and Cillian Murphy? Not me. Oh, it does have slight competition I guess with the previous mid-week release of The Sorcerer's Apprentice (2010) which opened on Wednesday July 14, 2010.... so there is that out in wide release as well.

Have a great weekend!
