Tuesday time which means more films are out there ready to be unleashed into the world via DVD and BluRay. Let's take a look a the new film titles released on DVD August 3, 2010.
First up is the fan favourite Kick-Ass which is available on DVD and DVD/Blu-Ray combo pack which is starting to feel like the new norm with the biggie titles. Next up we have the politically infused dramatic thriller The Ghost Writer starring Ewan MCGregor and Pierce Bronson, Accidents Happen stars Geena Davis and is a drama with a dark comedic edge to it. We also have the phenomenal Oscar-nominated film A Prophet.
One film I was thrilled to see get a (new) DVD release is Open Hearts / Elsker dig for evigt, a 2002 Danish film from directed Susanne Bier (After the Wedding / Efter brylluppet) starring Mads Mikkelsen (Valhalla Rising) & Paprika Stein (Applause / Applaus). With that collection of talent it makes it an easy must see for me!
Documentaries ahoy! Feeling like keeping it real? then you have lots of choice this week from The Dungeon Masters which follows 3 Dungeons & Dragons gamers, Sweetgrass which just recently had a theatrical release and IMAX Under the Sea.
Criterion is releasing a set of Kurosawa films this week with First Films of Akira Kurosawa
which includes Sanshiro Sugata, The Most Beautiful, Sanshiro Sugata, Part Two and The Men Who Tread on the Tiger's Tail.
Lots of TV with week including Heroes Season 4 (wow, I lost track of that one, I thought they were still on season 3), Monarchy the Complete Collection, Hawaii Five-0 Seasons 1 through 9 and The Incredible Hulk The Complete Series.
Also out this week is the fun looking kids flick Diary of a Wimpy Kid.
