Hello Film Fans and Fanatics!
Welcome to Film Fan Fridays for Friday October 1, 2010! Another busy week at the theatres this week with 13 releases, 4 film festival plus advance & special screenings. Wow. Busy times.
In limited release this week we have we have 3 documentaries to choose from including the Canadian doc Force of Nature: The David Suzuki Movie, sport doc Jews and Baseball: An American Love Story and Waiting for 'Superman' which looks at the American public education system. We also have Woody Allen's latest with You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger, gear up for horror during Halloween month with Hatchet II and get buried in a box with Ryan Reynolds in Buried which opens in limited release this week and expands wider October 8, 2010. Also in limited release as of September 30, 2010 is Bruce McDonald's latest with Trigger, a fantastic film starring Molly Parker and the late Tracey Wright as friends who reunite, reignite and walk down memory lane to their rock'n'roll days.
In wide release this week we have lots of big buzz films including Let Me In, based on the same book as the glorious 2008 Swedish Vampire film Let the Right One In / Låt den rätte komma in, and this English language version is from Cloverfield director Matt Reeves and stars Kodi Smit-McPhee (The Road) and Chloe Moretz ((500) Days of Summer, Kick-Ass) and Richard Jenkins (The Visitor). The Social Network aka The Facebook Movie has been getting pretty much unanimous love, hoser comedy Fubar II returns avec part deux and more horror with Case 39 which follows a social worker hoping to save a girl from her family starring Renée Zellweger and Jodelle Ferland (Tideland, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse). I'm actually very exicted to see StreetDance 3D, our second 3D dance film of the year which pitches urban and ballet dancers to work together - gotta love the across the track-ness with dance as the unifying force! Plus the Bollywood release of Anjaana Anjanni rounds out our releases for the week.
Have a great weekend!
Shannon
