Last night, ABC had the relevant college football game, #7 Oregon convincingly upsetting #4 Stanford. The game produced a 2.5 Adults 18-49 rating in the fast nationals, although that number should rise to close to a 3 rating when the official ratings correctly tabulate the Pacific time zone. The ABC game is more than double the same date last year (1.2 rating from 8-11 pm in the official nationals). At the other extreme, NBC carried niche-appeal Notre Dame (now #24 with its third straight win) against un-ranked Maryland. The NBC game averaged a 0.6 rating in the preliminary nationals, down from a 0.7 for its night of repeats last year on this night.
FOX almost kept up with ABC, scoring a 2.1 rating for the night, up almost 50% from last year. Cops at 8:00 scored a 1.6 (up from 1.5 last year), and the 8:30 Cops original posted a 1.9 (up from a 1.5 for an 8:30 repeat last year). But the big time period winner was UFC Velasquez vs Dos Santos, which averaged a 2.4 rating at 9 pm, almost doubling the 1.3 from America's Most Wanted the same night last year.
CBS was even with last year (1.0 rating from 8-11 pm). The Republican Debate (from South Carolina on foreign policy) averaged a sleepy 1.0 rating from 8-9 pm.
