The 18th Annual China Golden Rooster Hundred Flower Film Festival opened in Nanchang on October 14. Reportedly, this year over 1,000 film celebrities will attend as Feng Xiaogang, Andy Lau Tak Wa, Alec Su Yau Peng, Deng Chao, Betty Sun Li, Zhou Xun, Zhang Hanyu, Dong Xuan, Miao Pu, Pace Wu (Ng Pui Chi) and others will gather in Nanchang.
This year's film festival jury will consist of 23 people, who included famous directors, film actors and government officials. On October 14, one of the event's themed exhibits, a Taiwan film retrospective, opened with 17 Taiwan film professionals like famous director Lee Heng and famous producer Peggy Chiao (Jiu Hung Pin). Lee Heng said that hopefully the film industry exchange and interaction between the two shores can motivate further development between the two. This year's Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan film festival included a Jackie Chan classic film exhibit, but Jackie Chan could not attend in personal. Big Brother however still sent a video apology.
As the film festival's image ambassador and a Nanchang native, rumors of Deng Chao being "guaranteed" an award caught attention. Deng Chao denied the rumor and expressed that although the festival took place in his hometown and he was nominated, no award was "fixed". Deng Chao expressed that despite the Best Supporting Actor nomination participation was more important. Deng Chao expressed that he hoped someone else would win. He was asked whether his girlfriend Sun Li was confident about winning Best Supporting Actress again. Deng Chao expressed that Sun Li did not participate as his girlfriend but as a Chinese film art worker. Whether she can win or not her individual abilities will determine. If he and she both won, would they have any special celebration? Deng Chao expressed that he has not considered that issue. If they would win together they both would be greatly encouraged and very happy.
