The Andrew Lau Wai Keung directed film THE LEGEND OF CHEN ZHEN (JING MO FUNG WOM) has been in production recently in Shanghai. The film's Chen Zhen, Donnie Yen Chi Tan, and Shu Qi yesterday shot on location in Shanghai Chamber of Commerce. The location had 100 year old history. In the story Yen Chi Tan ran into Shu Qi. Boss Peter Lam Kin Ngok visited the set. Chi Tan as Chen Zhen not only had a lot of action scenes but also wore a mustache yesterday.
Chi Tan said that this costume was more comic book like. Aside from the mustache he would also wear a mask. In the film Chen Zhen would wear suits and speak English. He also played the piano and flirted. He expressed that he would not have any bed scene. This film was very
healthy and would not sell that. At first when he learned that he had to play the piano he thought it was curious, fortunately he knew how to play and did not have any problem. Tony Leung Chiu Wai also tried the Clark Gable look and even had electrifying eyes. Chi Tan said, "Don't always talk about him. I don't know how to electrify anyone. Actors have many
performance methods. I have some charm , I don't need to wink."
Shu Qi yesterday wore a sexy evening gown. Due to the chill she wore a down jacket when she was not in a scene. Yen Chi Tan expressed that earlier during a fight scene in the rain he caught a cold and had to be hospitalized. Shu Qi said that she has already made full preparation
against the cold. She wore three pairs of pants to keep warm, had heating pads all over her body and wore furry shoes on her feet. Since work was so tough did she want to marry soon? She joked, "Lau Wai Keung doesn't want to marry me!" She honestly said that now she rather enjoyed the result of her work. If she became a housewife she would be unhappy. As for the Taiwan earthquake, she said that she was frightened when she heard about it. Luckily her mother was fine.
Director Lau Wai Keung said that this film cost over 100 million. Yesterday's night club scene already cost 2 million to construct and used 200 extras. The film is expected to wrap early February and be released at the end of next year. As for STORM WARRIORS (FUNG WON II)'s decent performance, Lau Wai Keung said that he would not comment on other people's matter, but his STORM RIDERS' opening day box office was 4.2 million.
