[2010.06.02] WAI YING HUNG WINS ANOTHER BEST ACTRESS

Kara Hui (Wai Ying Hung) swept this year's major award shows with her film AT THE END OF DAYBREAK (SUM MOR). After winning the Hong Kong Film Award Best Actress, two nights ago she at the "tenth annual Chinese Media Award" again won the crown and gave her the nickname "Miss Five" due to her five awards. Best Actor went to NO PUEDO VIVIR SIN TI's Chen Wen-Pin. The Leon Dai directed film NO PUEDO VIVIR SIN TI won Best Actor, Best Picture and Best Director to become the big winner. Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress went to Jack Kao and Lu Yi-Jing of A PLACE OF ONE'S OWN.

The Tenth Annual Chinese Film Media Award took place two nights ago in Guangzhou. Wai Ying Hung with AT THE END OF DAYBREAK won Best Actress. Earlier with that film she received the Hong Kong Film Award and the Hong Kong Film Critic Society Best Actress awards and the Taiwan Golden Horse and Asian Film Award Best Supporting Actress awards.

Wai Ying Hung expressed that the award was a recognition of her acting. She has always had her own policy of acting so she would not become stubborn and lost due to the awards. She said, "I didn't personally experience a lot so I had to add a little imagination into my work. I hope with these characters I can showcase my acting and tell the audience that I don't just know how to fight." Did she get a raise? She happily said, "Someone gave me one, but it still depends on what kind of character it is. I waited for several months and finally I can use the Miss Five title." Siu Hung expressed that this time she took a relaxed approach. She did not believe she would win either because Zhou Xun and Li Bingbing were very good actresses. She never thought that she would win.

Siu Hung expressed at the Hong Kong Film Awards that she had to take medication due to the tremendous stress. Was she just as nervous this time? She expressed that she was not prepared and did not think about what to say on stage. Thus she made a mess of it. She said, "I won't raise my rate due to an award. Originally I thought I only got four awards so the big four was fine. I think tonight when I go to bed I will snicker." Siu Hung revealed that she has won the Best Supporting Actress at this event in its fourth year. She never thought she could be promoted to lead actress. She said, "I will celebrate in Hong Kong. The cast of ROSY BUSINESS 2 said that we will dine at the company restaurant, it can get pretty expensive." Was her next goal finding a boyfriend? She said, "This is very hard, I have no reason to get all promiscuous to look. I only wish to have a chance to choose roles, to have more opportunities to compete for awards next year. Actually I have already been reading scripts, right now we are working on the schedule. Next month I will accept a film contribution award."

Huang Xiaoming two nights ago received the Most Popular Actor award. Earlier reportedly he met with film company boss Jimmy Heung Wa Sing. He honestly said that they were negotiating collaboration, perhaps with a chance to work with Chow Yun Fat. However no start date has been set. He joked that then two Hui Man Keung would be working together. Xiaoming also said that when he was little he already liked Chow Yun Fat and Jiang Wen very much. Now that he has grown up, his acting gradually has matured. Will he increase his rate? He joked, "I am very realistic and very actual, of course I will; but the market will decide the amount."
