DVD Releases for June 8, 2010

This week we have yet another not-film-but-have-to-mention-it-tie-in with The Twilight Saga: Eclipse Soundtrack becoming available today, which is more than enough time to get your copy so you can get to know all the songs before the film hits theatres June 30, 2010. I had a chance to listen to it last week when it was live streamed for a day, and it sounds pretty good especially the tracks by Muse, Metric & Sia. It also includes one track from the score by composer Howard Shore called "Jacob's Theme", which sounds great and now has me looking forward to the score as well (out on June 29, 2010).

Now let's take a look at the DVD releases for June 8, 2010.

First up is the gorgeous Taiwanese film Parking / Ting Che (DVD Review) that has a great art house vibe, vivid colours and stellar performances. Speaking of performance, there are compelling ones a plenty in Andrea Arnold's Fish Tank, a gritty and gripping coming of age tale set in the UK starring Katie Jarvis & Michael Fassbender and is one of the best films of 2010 so far. Another 2010 release hitting the shelves is Martin Scorsese's thriller Shutter Island starring Leonardo DiCaprio & Mark Ruffalo and crime/action flick From Paris with Love starring John Travolta & Jonathan Rhys Meyers. Also out this week is the thriller The Cry of the Owl starring Julia Stiles & Paddy Considine.

Also in release is the 2008 BBC Documentary Series Oceans and the mock-documentary on a cannibalistic serial killer Long Pigs.

If you are getting ready to Pity the Fool with the upcoming release of The A-Team but are feeling nostalgic for old school actions, you can revisit the original A-Team TV series with The A-Team Complete Series Limited Edition. Looks pretty awesome to me!

Last up for the week is a Blu-Ray pick of Wong Kar-Wai's Happy Together (vlog review) starring the ever enchanting Tony Leung and Leslie Cheung.
