Best Actor Nick Cheung Ka Fai, Janice Man Wing Shan and Ken Hung Cheuk Lap starred in the Roy Chow Hin Yeung directed NIGHTFALL (DAI JUI BO). They shot on location near the Hong Kong University earlier under 34 degree heat.
Janice Man's character background was complicated. The beauty in order to perform up to standard not only studied her piano training and studying the script months before but also appeared on the silver screen without any make up for the first time. Due to the enormous pressure, earlier at the production start ceremony she was already so nervous that she was not answering the questions that she was asked. She even insisted on remaining depressed until the film wrap for the convenience of getting into character.
On the day of the shoot, Janice Man and Hung Cheuk Lap wore thick clothing and sweaters for a scene in which Ka Fai followed them. On and off camera Janice Man was cool. While waiting for her mark she even put on headphones and sat back to back with Hung Cheuk Lap without any exchange, as though any contact with others would affect her mood.
Janice Man this time would be able to work with good actors like Ka Fai and Simon Yam Tat Wa, naturally she had no room for error. Thus she risked the danger of suffering from depression to insist on carrying the negative energy throughout. Her sweet smile vanished. Speaking of her looks, Janice Man honestly admitted, "It's deliberate, in these few months I want to keep this condition." Janice Man even let her dog Man B to guest star as she was promoted to become a "star parent".
As for the extremely thin Cheung Ka Fai his neck had a five inch scar. This was another "self mutilated" look after BEAST STALKER (JING YUN). He joked, "Luckily it wasn't real, if not would I be able to stand here and chat with you?" His upcoming films would mainly be dramatic. Ka Fai said that despite his film TREASURE INN (CHOI SUN HAT JANG) made over 10 million at the Mainland box office, in the short run he still would be "on sabbatical" from the comedy world to avoid giving people the impression of "mediocrity".
