The Sked: MONDAY RATINGS November 14 & Sweep Update

CBS Monday had a very solid night last night and made great gains over the same night last year, thanks to an entire schedule that is working top to bottom.  NBC is a 1.4 in the fast nationals, up one tenth from the last two Mondays but still down two ticks from this night last year.  A big interview with accused child rapist coach Jerry Sandusky appears that it delivered a boost to Rock Center but much of that gain will probably be erased in the official nationals due to a major pre-emption of the schedule for Monday Night Football.  ABC clearly won the news magazine special game last night with a Diane Sawyer interview with Arizona Rep. Gabby Giffords and her husband.   Program details follow.

CBS Monday had a very good night with all shows setting or tying season highs (excluding premiere week).  The one exception is Two and a Half Men, which is stabilizing in the low-5 rating range.  .

CBS Mon    9.19  9.26  10.3  10.10 10.17 10.24 10.31 11.7  11.14

ABC's Dancing with the Stars held steady at a 3.4 and provided a solid lead-in for 20/20 (interview with Rep Gabby Giffords and husband Mark), which posted a 2.8 rating (somewhat better than most original Castle episodes).  The ABC ratings, however, might go down one tenth due to the Milwaukee pre-emption of the network schedule for the Monday Night Football game.

ABC Mon    9.19  9.26  10.3  10.10 10.17 10.24 10.31 11.7  11.14

FOX's two dramas took another step backward, with Terra Nova near a series low and House tying a season low.

FOX Mon    9.19  9.26  10.3  10.10 10.17 10.24 10.31 11.7  11.14

House      ---   ---   3.9   2.7   3.1   ---   2.5   2.8   2.5*

The Sing-Off did a normal number, while Rock Center was up to a series-best 1.3 rating.  The show featured a very good "get", the first interview with the Beast of Happy Valley, former Penn State coach Jerry Sandusky.  The interview itself was light on follow-up questions and was actually rather brief.  The entire hour could have been built around the unfolding scandal and might have gained audience through the hour, but it was only given about 18 minutes so that stories on Alabama immigration laws, photographer Annie Liebovitz, and armed forces MREs (Meals Ready to Eat) could run.  By half hour, the news magazine did a 1.4 and then a 1.2 at 10:30.  Remember, however, that NBC station KARE in Minneapolis was running the Monday Night Football game locally last night -- so Sing-Off could be closer to a 1.4 and Rock Center to a 1.2 in the official nationals.

NBC Mon    9.19  9.26  10.3  10.10 10.17 10.24 10.31 11.7  11.14
