William Chan earlier was made fun of online as "I don't know who William Chan is".  Amigo Chu joked that a new award "I finally know who William Chan is" should be added and given to Charlene Choi.  Eric Tsang added that the award should go to Ah Sa's father because he knows who William Chan is.

The 2011 JADE SOLID GOLD BEST TOP MUSIC AWARDS took place last night at the Tseung Kwan O Television City as the final report card of the music industry this year.  Although the five major record labels have already resolved the royalty issues with TVB, they did not make it in time to have songs on the chart.  As for the Asia Pacific Most Popular Male and Female Singers and the Most Popular Male and Female Singer awards, TVB's own Raymond Lam Fung won the Asia Pacific Most Popular Male Singer award for the third year in a row and with the song CHOK won the Solid Gold Gold Song award.  Wong Yuen Chi surprisingly won her first Asia Pacific Most Popular Female Singer.  Leo Ku Kui Ke won his fourth Most Popular Male Singer.  The Most Popular Female Singer went to Joey Yung Cho yi for the seventh time.  Joey this year won 14 awards at four award shows and defeated Eason Chan Yik Shun who won 12.

Last night Eric Tsang Chi Wai, Amigo Chu Kin Bong, Christine Ng Wing Mei and the Grasshoppers were hosts.  Among the five major record labels, Warner and Sony executives were on hand, but only 70 singers attended.  Mainly Emperor held down the fort.  Five major singers Eason Chan Yik Shun, Kay Tse On Kay and Hacken Lee Hak Kun remained without awards.  The award show opened with a group of rookie singers and the Grasshopppers' performance, then immediately presented the first Solid Gold award to the Grasshoppers.  Without five major singers, Pong Nan Yik Bong, Wong Cho Nam, Ken Hung Cheuk Lap and William Chan Wai Ting were all in the front row.  Even Chan Wai Ting who only wrote one song won the Most Popular Creative Singer Bronze Prize.

Asia Pacific Most Popular Hong Kong Male Singer went to Lam Fung for the third time as he defeated the earlier rumored winners of the Grasshoppers and Leo Ku Kui Ke.  When Lam Fung was announced, Lady Ng could not help but screamed Chok King.  He stated that the first time he won this award he forgot to thank many people.  The most important was for him to thank a group of people who trusted him and gave him opportunities.  He said, "I don't mind too much about how I feel, what I mind the most is the feeling that I give them."  He also thanked TVB for cultivating him all along and thanked elders like Ng Yu.  He also thanked all of his fans who never abandoned him.  He also hoped that all the singers would be together again on the stage and perform better year after year.

Asia Pacific Most Popular Female Singer went surprisingly to Ivana Wong Yuen Chi for the first time as she defeated the earlier rumored winner Joey Yung Cho Yi.  When the host announced Wong Yuen Chi, she was stunned in the audience and said not to scare her and said to Gillian Chung Yun Tung who was next to her, "No way."  She said that this was a great award.  She had to calm down and think about what to say.  Then tearfully she said that all along she put all her heart into making good music, from the first day in the business to today the seventh year.  She has never thought about winning any major award.  She wanted to thank people who encouraged her.  She also thanked TVB, East Asia Records, fans and the entire music team.  She said, "if some feels that I have to work even harder, I will do my best to fulfill the singer duty."  Wong Yuen Chi after performing received a standing ovation from the singers.

The Most Popular Female Singer went to seven time winner Yung Cho Yi, an expected result.  When Lee Hak Kun presented the award to Joey, Joey said to him, "You come back.  The first year when he and I won an award, that was when he got married.  Now he has two sons.  I really feel very happy, thank you TVB for encouraging me again.  Many people said that since it wasn't the first award, aren't you used to it?  Actually no, this year I worked very hard on learning to play the guitar, spent a lot of time to communicate with music.  Hopefully next year I would reach this destination."  The Most Popular Male Singer went to four time winner Ku Kui Ke.  On the stage he thanked Emperor and TVB and said that 18 years ago when he released his first record, he was a kid who really liked singing.  Now he will produce his Cantonese and Mandarin record, make his own music video.  Now he not only liked, he loved his music job very much.  He tearfully said, "In recent years at Hong Kong award shows, everyone's attention has been on who competed with who, the power struggle between companies and less on the effort and hard work that singers paid.  I started to get a little confused on the meaning of attending ceremonies, but when I brought the awards to celebrations, company colleagues would be very excited and emotional, every year I would go to fan club meetings and bring this award for fans to take pictures with.  I saw how happy the fans were, and I realized that to them it was very important."

The Solid Gold Gold Prize went to Lam Fung's CHOK.  Lam Fung said that this award did not belong to him but to all of Hong Kong, because Chok was a creation of Hong Kong.  He said, "I want to thank very much musicians who have worked very hard with me this year.  This year I have experienced a lot of rises and falls, hopefully everyone will bring my Chok back.  Next Year I will Chok for everyone again."  Last night Yung Cho Yi and Lam Fung both won four awards.  With the earlier Metro Radio, Radio Hong Kong and Commercial Radio and last night's TVB music awards, Yung Cho Yi won 14 awards and defeated Chan Yik Shun with his 12 awards to become the year's big winner.

When Joyce Cheng Yun Yi received the Most Popular Female Rookie silver prize, she broke down in tears and joked that she did not have looks, figures or long legs, but she would continue to work hard.  This award was a good start.  She also thanked her mother Lydia Shum Din Ha.  The Female Rookie Gold Prize winner Lam Yun Tung was teary eyed.  When Ng Wing Mei announced her friend Cheung Chi Lam's Solid Gold award, she screamed in excitement and pointed out that her good friend waited for 20 years and finally got it.  Cheung Chi Lam thanked TVB and his company and also said that he only took a small step forward.  Guest performers included Tat Ming, Sally Yeh (Yip Sin Man), Jeff Chan Shun Jit and five major's Hacken Lee Hak Kun.

The Hong Kong Performing Art Academy's 25th commencement ceremony took place yesterday. With her years in the film industry Sylvia Chang (Cheung Ngai Ga) received a honorary degree, Chung King Fai received a honorary drama doctorate degree, Joseph Koo Ka Fai received the honorary music doctorate degree and Peter Lam Kin Ngok received that honorary academy doctorate degree.

As the East Asia Entertainment boss, Lam Kin Ngok had the support of many company artists like Sammi Cheng Sau Man, Johnnie To Kei Fung, Anthony Wong Chau Sun, Andrew Lau Wai Keung, Richie Jen (Yam Yin Chai), Ivana Wong Yuen Chi, Wilfred Lau Ho Lung and Denise Ho Wan Si. Lam Kin Ngok's mother, children, Mr. and Mrs. Lam Kin Hong and Lam Kin Ming also
attended. Even Michelle who was linked in rumor with Lam Kin Ngok attended.

Lam Kin Nogk was asked whether he would like to share the doctorate degree with his father the most. He said of course, at night he would offer incense and he should be happy. His artists said that the boss had everything so they did not consider giving a gift. He said, "Since they were willing to sign with me, they don't need to. As long as Sammi doesn't give me a red bomb (wedding invitation) I am fine. I didn't hear any news, next time I would ask her for everyone." Lam Kin Ngok pointed out that everyone was like him and wanted to see them get married! Earlier Cecilia Cheung Pak Chi was rumored to sign with Lam Kin Ngok, but Mr. Lam explained that it was a film negotiation. How was the progress? He said that so far he has not seen Pak Chi. He said that the film will not start work until next year so he did not need to be in any hurry. Pak Chi is currently under marriage and family troubles, Lam Kin Ngok stressed that he would not add his opinion on other people's family matters. His only interest was in Nicholas Tse Ting Fung's sons to be in show business.

As a Christian Cheng Sau Man said that her gift to congratulate the boss' honorary degree was to spread the gospel to him. She also said that she was the biggest gift to the boss. Sammi said that everyone's achievement was different, she would not force herself to see anyone as a goal. Sammi and Andy Hui Chi On got back together. Earlier they visited Japan together. Sammi revealed that On Jai did not propose to her as rumored. She said that she did not long much for marriage. Currently their relationship was pleasant and did not need too much change. Did they try to have a baby on the trip? Sammi did not directly answer. "That sounds so vulgar, this is the Performing Art Academy. Asking like that is too daring." Would Sammi see the boss as a goal? She joked, "His figure? I don't want to develop sideways." Ho Wan Si joked, "You develop sharply, sharp sharp sharp!" Sammi responded that she developed flatly. She said that she would not have a big belly like the boss.

In addition, Cheung Ngai Ga's family, friends and disciples Angelica Lee Sinjie and Rene Liu (Lau Yeuk Ying) attended in support. Lee Sinjie pointed out that Lau Yeuk Ying had to work in Taiwan and left in a hurry. She said that the mentor's determination was worth learning from as she always saw her as a goal. To Kei Fung said that recently he has been busy with a film so he did not deliberately ask Cecilia Cheung Pak Chi to make a movie. He also did not pay attention to their marriage trouble news. Koo Ka Fai honestly said that he never thought about winning an award. Later he will celebrate with his family. Chung King Fai said that he would never retire.

[2011.05.04] SHU QI'S EMOTIONAL SCENES TOUCH THE TEAM

courtesy of takungpao.com

Opening on the 26th, A BEAUTIFUL LIFE (BUT JOI YEUNG NEI GOO DAN) is the most tearful film in Shu Qi's career. The romance in the film is deeply touching. With actor Liu Ye's detailed performance, she can get into character very easily and perform to her fullest. In every crying scene she and Liu Ye shed real tears and absolutely never use a drop of eye drop for assistance. Sometimes when Shu Qi watches her performance on playback, she is still teary eyed. Even some of the team are teary eyed.

Shu Qi's most memorable film is telling the truth after drinking. Because she has always had quite a tolerance, this scene truly tests her acting abilities. In the story she sees Liu Ye's harmonious relationship with his family. Liu Ye's speech impaired brother Tian Liang also just proposed and planned to marry a mute girl. Everything just hit Shu Qi at once. Because Shu Qi's mood had to be gradual, this scene spent six minutes on a long distance shot. She also gave her all to the performance. After the first take, the director said to her, "Not bad, but can we do another?" Shu Qi almost fainted on the spot. Finally the director took seven takes. On the final take, thunder came. Because it coordinated with the atmosphere well, the director finally chose the final take.

Aside from a touching story, Shu Qi and Liu Ye in the film also have sweet moments. Shu Qi even cuts Liu Ye's hair, but she only pretends to. Shu Qi says that she is very afraid of really cutting Liu Ye's hair or ear, but in the story she accidentally cut Liu Ye's ear. Liu Ye tells Shu Qi not to worry too much. Since his head is already in her hands, he can only trust her fully to be able to get through this round. In addition after Ivana Wong Yuen Chi created the song MISS THE ADDRESS for the movie, Andrew Lau Wai Keung also invites Hong Kong song god Jacky Cheung Hok Yau to sing another song for the film, SILENT GUITAR.

A level 9 earthquake took place in Japan on March 11, the ensuing tsunami caused many deaths and casualties and even triggered a radiation crisis. After Taiwan show business' large scale fund raiser for Japan, Hong Kong show business also started "love without border 311 candle light event". Last night over 100 Hong Kong artists held a press conference at Radio and Television Hong Kong to announce a candlelight event at the Causeway Bay Victoria Park on April 1. Last night many artists recorded the theme song SUCCUMB NOT TO SORROW to cheer on the Japanese victims and hope that they would persist despite the pain and suffering.

Yesterday over 100 artists was at RTHK. Jackie Chan was the organizer o this event. Other attending artists included Eric Tsang Chi Wai, Alan Tam Wing Lun, John Shum Kin Fun, Hacken Lee Hak Kun, Prudence Liew Mei Kwan, AngelaBaby, Theresa Fu Wing, Myolie Wu Hung Yi, Bosco Wong Chung Chak and Michael Tse Tin Wa. Each major medias TVB, Cable, ATV, Commercial Radio and now media all sent representatives.

Jackie Chan at the press conference said, "Hong Kong show business has always been very concerned with this matter but did not know where to start. This time was different from the Mainland where material could be transported. This time no plane could land and no car could reach. Now we are studying what we can do. Earlier with the Sichuan earthquake, (Judy Ongg) Yung Sin Yuk in Japan spent a month to plan a fund raiser. This time with the Japan disaster we should do something for the Japanese people. Hong Kong artists have no border differentiation, we all live in the global village. With the concept of humanity we should help each other. Earlier with the South Asia tsunami we helped out, but this time truly was somewhat rushed."

Alan said that the theme song was produced overnight with both a Japanese and a Mandarin version. Two nights ago he and Chiu Tsang Hei created it together. This theme song was based on a Japanese poem. At night over several hundred artists would record it. Some artists who could not attend later handed over recording or videos to the event. Reportedly Jacky Cheung Hok Yau and Eason Chan Yik Shun already recorded early yesterday morning. Alan said that although singers were numerous, arrangement was not difficult and said that anything that happened would be his responsibility. This recording would be first come first served. As soon as singers arrived they would be assigned which verse to sing. She said that this time the crew had the most difficult job.

Jackie Chan, Tsang Chi Wai, Andrew Lau Wai Keung and others were interviewed. Jackie Chan said that artists from India, Japan and other areas would come to Hong Kong ot attend the candlelight event. So far only Masatoshi Nakamura has been confirmed, others could not be announced yet. Jackie Chan as usual would cover the production cost. He honestly said that this time was no exception and would cover over 1 million. He said that each disaster relief package cost HK$350 with 15 day supply for each victim. Yet items like down jackets could not be shipped to Japan. Jackie Chan said that earlier he already helped with the Yunnan earthquake victims. This disaster relief was Japan, was he worried about anti Japanese sentiment? Chi Wai said no, everyone saw the news. The major disaster that they faced today we might have to face in the future. This was a global matter. This event remembered and wished Japan well. It also provided a chance for everyone to think, to let everyone know that disaster could be very terrible. Chi Wai pointed out that Lau Wai Keung would be responsible for editing the news footage. This time they wanted to let the Japanese know everyone's voice. As for why this poem was chosen to be the theme song, Chi Wai explained that because Japanese star Ken Watanabe thought this poem was very inspirational to the victims.

Jackie Chan said that each time China suffered a major disaster, Japanese fans would very enthusiastically donate to his foundation. Thus this time when they needed a helping hand, he was asked whether his fans were fine. He said that he still was unable to make contact yet. This time the location Victoria Park was chosen because it could hold 25,000 people and would take place in the format of a candlelight event. He hoped that one side would be the candlelight event for the people and the other for people to place flowers and candles. Chi Wai said that the event would take place in segments, hopefully it would be able to provide some thought and inspiration to everyone. As for admission, Chi Wai said that a donation box would be placed at the gate and urged people not to wait until the event to donate. They could donate at anytime now; the April Fool's Day was chosen mainly to accommodate the venue. He also said that artists would have fewer solo segments that night as charity came first. Speaking of the four major record label and TVB copyright issue, Chi Wai welcomed all media to broadcast the footage, but as for ethics and whether the complete version would air the media themselves would be responsible. Recently Kelly Chen Wai Lam suffered a miscarriage. Chi Wai said that she probably would not be able to attend because she did not want herself to be the focus. She believed that many people would console her and worried that she would cry herself. However Kelly would send a video to show her support.

Judy Ongg (Yung Sin Yuk) came to Hong Kong to attend the Radio and Television Hong Kong "love without border 311 candlelight event" press conference. Yung Sin Yuk thanked Jackie Chan, Alan Tam Wing Lun and everyone in Hong Kong for their support. She said that now Japan has a very hard road to take, without any drinkable water, transportation, gas or electricity. Although it was recovering bit by bit, the biggest problem was radiation. This was unprecedented in its 1200 year history. Now the people of Japanese could only wait and tolerate, hoping for one day that it would recover and rebuild their homes. She thanked everyone for their love and thanked the Chinese government for donating material to them.

The event also announced that all proceeds after expenses would be donated completely to the Salvation Army for disaster relief. Salvation Army had 120 years of history in Japan. Only their transportation team would be able to enter the disaster area. Thus this event would be held with Salvation Army. The target of the fund raiser would be providing 50,000 to 75,000 relief packages to the disaster area and help an estimate of 50,000 to 80,000 people. The package could provide 15 days of water and food, along with toothbrushes, toothpaste, towels, winter clothes and other items.

Wu Hung Yi and Wong Chung Chak last night appeared at Radio and Television Hong Kong appeared. They looked embarrassed and had to find Michael Tse Tin Wa before posing together. Wu Hung Yi would sing the Japanese version this time. She said that singing with the transliteration was not too hard. If she had time she would attend the Victoria Park candlelight event. Hung Yi pointed out that right now Japan's businesses have suffered and she hoped the Fukushima nuclear crisis would soon be resolved. She said, "My step mother lives in Tokyo so she is fine. Most of the family has already gone to Canada." Tse Tin Wa said that although the nationalities were different, he hoped for help without border. Was he worried about TVB cutting out singer performance? Tse Tin Wa pointed out that earlier this type of fund raisers have been done, now was not the time to assign blame. Everyone should think about how to deliver the message. Wong Chung Chak said that he asked his fans to donate money.

Miriam yeung Chin Wa said that she would work in Beijing on April 1 and hoped to return in time. She said that she donated money already and said that she was concerned not only with Japan but also Yunnan earthquake victims. She said that help was a long term matter. Chin Wa said that she liked going to Japan. Earlier she worked with Japanese groups and said that the assistance would last many decades. She hoped to be able to help forever. Ivana Wong Yuen Chi said that earlier she went through her wardrobe in hopes of donating some clothes for the charity auction.
