[2011.11.18] XIAO SONGJIA SEDUCES PETER HO

courtesy of takungpao.com

The Peter Ho Yun Tung starred COLD STEEL has already been selected for this year's Palm Springs Film Festival.  Director David Wu Dai Wai said that he had a lot of confidence in this film.  He would like to win the Best Editing award the most and hope that Ho Yun Tung, Tony Leung Ka Fai and Xiao Songjia to be able to win acting awards.

Ho Yun Tung and Xiao Songjia in the film had daring love scenes.  In the film the Xiao Songjia played tea house owner was very active in love, while Ho Yun Tung played a kid who was still "green" about love.  Thus Xiao Songjia in the film had to be Ho Yun Tung's mentor in love.  Ho Yun Tung once said, "Spark flew all over during this collaboration, Xiao Songjia's performance in the film was especially vivid.  For passion scenes for example, if actresses hold back actors would be in trouble and could be in character.  Xiao Songjia not only was not reluctant but was also able to coordinate with me, which made getting into characters easier for us."  This performance was the most daring for both Ho Yun Tung and Xiao Songjia in their careers.

Just released her second new record, Joyce Cheng Yun Yi yesterday held an autograph session and performance and hosted a Christmas lighting ceremony with Santa Claus.  Recently she participated in the film COLD WAR (HONG JIN).  On the first day she saw Aaron Kwok Fu Sing.  Yun Yi said, "He smiled at me, I was so happy I could have died."  Unfortunately she had no scene with Sing Sing.  Instead she had a scene with Tony Leung Ka Fai.  Playing a cop for the first time she was excited.  "I thought wearing an uniform would be very sexy, but this film was another type of performance.  It's not the comedy that I was used to.  I tried to learn from Ka Fai, hopefully I can truly use what I learned."

Two Best Actors Aaron Kwok Fu Sing and Tony Leung Ka Fai starred new film COLD WAR (HONG JIN) yesterday held a press conference.  Yesterday was Sing Sing's birthday and the event arranged for a plane shaped cake to celebrate with him.  Sing Sing revealed that he would meet 20 friends for dinner and admitted that rumored girlfriend Lynn Xiong (Hung Doi Lam) would attend.

Kwok Fu Sing, Leung Ka Fai, Aarif Rahman (Lee Chi Ting), Eddie Peng Yu-yen, Chin Kar Lok and Lam Ka Tung introduced their characters.  Ka Fai said that the last time he worked with Sing Sing was THROW DOWN (YAU DOH LUNG FU BONG) years ago.  He thought that his acting was more and more stable and mature.  How will Sing Sing celebrate his birthday?  He said, "Probably dinner, with around 20 friends.  (Was Hung Doi Lam invited?)  I invited her, she should be in Hong Kong."  Speaking of Hung Doi Lam stating that she had a headache from preparing a birthday gift, he said, "Many friends all say that, actually I am already very happy about good friends having the time to meet.  It's fortune."  Sing Sing thanked his friends for already planning the celebration months ago because he could not promise to attend.  He said, "Friends said they didn't care if I couldn't come.  For example Shum Ka Wai deliberately came back from Beijing.  This birthday could be considered unexpected because I always thought I would have to work.  Luckily the team won't have a notice until tomorrow night so I have more time."

In the film playing a rival character opposite Leung Ka Fai, Sing Sing said that it will be an exciting film that battles wits, courage and ruthlessness.  He hoped to be able to create another classic after INFERNAL AFFAIRS (MO GAN DOH).  Sing Sing also said that earlier they shot a major explosion scene that used three hydrogen bombs to create a giant fire ball.  Although the effect was dangerous but the actors on the set
were very safe.  Has Hung Doi Lam visited the set?  Sing Sing said, "I don't like friends visiting the set, I am afraid that work would be affected.  People who understand me know that I focus on work.  Even manager Siu Mei rarely appears."  As for Andy Lau Tak Wa, he had a part but did not appear yesterday.  The press release did not mention Wa Jai's name.  Sing Sing said, "For now I have to keep it confidential, Wa Jai plays a very important character.  My scenes with him earlier have already been completed."

Sing Sing joked that he grew up watching his performance, Leung Ka Fai did not mind.  "He probably saw my commercials.  In my growth process I made many commercials, if I have to count it would take awhile."
Ka Fai praised that Sing Sing's acting now has become more and more mature and called him "Heavenly King Best Actor".  Will he attend Sing Sing's birthday dinner?  He said, "When will he have time to eat with us?"  Did he feel Sing Sing and Hung Doi Lam make a good couple?  Ka Fai said, "You can tell from how solid Lynn's acting is, turning from a model to an actress.  If they are truly boyfriend and girlfriend, privately they must have very deep exchanges."

Aaron Kwok Fu Sing yesterday attended as an UNICEF Asia Pacific ambassador launched the "charity golf day" with top golf player Michelle Wie.  Lately Sing Sing has been busy with the new film COLD WAR (HONG JIN) and concert rehearsal.  Yesterday he just slept for three hours.

Sing Sing recently worked with Andy Lau Tak Wa and Tony Leung Ka Fai on his new film HONG JIN.  He said that working with Wa Jai has been very pleasant and that Wa Jai has always been very passionate about film.  Was he worried about the acting competition?  Sing Sing said that acting competition was definite, actually it was just a sparring match.  As for his role, he did not want to talk much about it because the film had more actors.  Was he worried about salary comparisons?  Sing Sing said that Hong Kong needed to be more united to make better films.  Contributing an effort to the film industry, his salary would not be different or the focus.  The chance should be the most important.

[2011.10.17] ANDY LAU, AARON KWOK, TONY LEUNG KA FAI CREATE COLD WAR

courtesy of singtao.com
courtesy of takungpao.com

Edko's heavily invested police epic COLD WAR (HONG JIN) has already confirmed three Best Actors Andy Lau Tak Wa, Aaron Kwok Fu Sing and Tony Leung Ka Fai and scheduled for a Hong Kong production start in October and simultaneous release next year in the Mainland, Taiwan and Hong Kong.  The film company is determined to turn the film into the most luxurious Best Actor "city collapsing" acting battle in the past ten years of Hong Kong police film.

Lau Tak Wa said that INFERNAL AFFAIRS (MO GAN DOH) was already a battle of wit suspense classic ten years ago.  Hopefully after COLD WAR's release it will become the new symbol of Hong Kong police battle of wits films of the next ten years.  His participation this time would be a joy for him.  Kwok Fu Sing originally stopped making movies to prepare for his concert but because the COLD WAR script was too attractive he was willing to take time from his rehearsal schedule and sleep less to make it.  After completing the film he will return to the rehearsal.  The script also motivated Leung Ka Fai as he took time from his current film production to participate.  Aside from the three film big shots, new actors Aarif Rahman (Lee Chi Ting) and Eddie Peng Yu-yen will also perform.  They have already worked with several big stars.  As for the film's directors Leung Lok Man and Lok Kim Ching would joint direct for
the first time but have worked behind the scene in the film industry for years.

Edko said that the script was the film's nucleus.  Although this big production's two new directors had no director experience, they have been in the Hong Kong film industry for years.  Investor Bill Kong Chi Keung said, "Hong Kong film is about the spirit of passing the torch.  Ten years ago, (Andrew) Lau Wai Keung and Mak Chong (Alan Mak Siu Fai, Felix Chong Man Keung) were only known in the industry but INFERNAL
AFFAIRS provided them an opportunity.  Now they have already become pillars of the Hong Kong film industry. Conceivably after COLD WAR, which will not only provide viewers with a class A good film but also transmit new blood to the film industry."

[2011.06.22] LIU YE HAS PRESSURE FROM PLAYING MAO ZEDONG

courtesy of takungpao.com

With 178 actors from three lands on both sides of the strait, the Huang Jianxin and Han Sanping directed film BEGINNING OF THE GREAT REVIVAL will open in Hong Kong tomorrow. To assist with the promotion, Huang Jianxin earlier was interviewed with several actors Liu Ye, Feng Yuanzheng, Li Qin and Li Chen.

Working with over 100 actors this time, Huang Jianxin with many big productions and years of producer experience honestly said that the most difficult was actor scheduling issues. However he was not baffled and instead after its completion felt a great sense of achievement. Playing Yuan Shikai, Chow Yun Fat earlier joked that he had to complain about Zhao Benshan impersonating him while he was acting; Huang Jianxin said that their exchanges cracked up everyone on the set and praised Fat Gor's professionalism. Fat Gor in order to prevent his Cantonese accent affecting his performance asked the director two months the production to get a professional to record his lines for him to practice with in Hong Kong. Thus during the shoot he had no obstacle at all. The director also pointed out that the film story took place between 1911 and 1921, but now most of the buildings in Shanghais were from the 30s. The team had to build the Beijing brothel and university library in Huairou.

Liu Ye and Li Qin in the film played young Mao Zedong and his wife Yang Kaihui; Li qin said that before working together she thought Liu Ye was beyond her reach, but on the first day of the shoot Liu Ye in order to adjust to her height took a seated position while acting. Thus she thought he was very nice. Liu Ye also praised in Cantonese her performance. As for playing Mao Zedong, he said that he had certain pressure because Mao Zedong was an important figure in Chinese history and very influential around the world. However each person's understanding of Mao Zedong was different. He performed his own way so he definitely had pressure. How did he relax himself? He said, after the shoot he took two months off and he was freed. Speaking of the film's online availability, Liu Ye said that it was outrageous because the film box office would suffer a lot. Playing his first love, Tang Wei had three scenes but was completely cut out. Did he feel any regret? He said, the film had 178 actors so a balance was very hard to find. Thus 17 people's roles were cut. The film also went from the original four hours to more than 2 hours.

Feng Yuanzheng in the film played the "May 4" Movement founder Chen Duxiu, he caught the directors' eyes with the shape of his head and his elegant quality. In the film he and Liu Ye had the most scenes together. He even had several minutes of screaming and yelling, but he did not feel any difficulty. Instead he felt very lucky because he was able to work with so many great actors. As for the 17 actors on the cutting room floor, Feng Yuanzheng honestly said that at first he was worried about being cut.

The film had over 100 actors and resembled a film award. Li Chen said that meal times felt like that the most. Speaking of memories from the production, he and Feng Yuanzheng both said that the most memorable was birthday celebrations during the shoot. Feng Yuanzheng also mentioned something funny about Fat Gor. When the team was shooting in Hengdian, Zhejiang, it ran into the snowstorm of several decades. The highway was jammed. Fat Gor told the police, "I am Chow Yun Fat, I am in a hurry to make a movie." The police told Fat Gor, "Even if you are Chow Yun Fat there isn't anything we can do." In addition, he also mentioned that he admired Tony Leung Ka Fai very much when he was little, thus he was very
excited about the chance to work with him this time.

[2011.05.20] PETER HO SHOOTS LIKE HE HAS A TWITCH

courtesy of singtao.com

courtesy of takungpao.com

Peter Ho Yun Tung in the film BIAN DI LANG YAN played a sniper. Everyday he carried the 20 kilogram gun and rolled around in dirty to show everyone his transformation from idol actor to silver screen tough guy!

Peter looked cool with the gun, but his "shooting" took a lot of time and practice. He said, "The gun weighed 20 kilograms. From the start when I fired I would tremble all over. The director asked me whether I was a sniper or had an eye twitch? Later when I had free time I would feel the gun and load the gun, then I practiced to look more like the part." Actually the secret was very simple. Peter liked photography and felt pleasure from the sound of the shutter. For this film he treated the gun like a camera and imagined the loading sound as the camera shutter sound.

Tony Leung Ka Fai had the most scenes with Peter, but Leung Ka Fai in the film was not responsible for "playing cool" and did not have any romance. He primarily played "injured" and was called "the easily hurt man". Peter said, "Brother Fai and I met and greeted on the first day. Then he began to be injured continuously. For example, yesterday in a scene in which he lay on the ground, someone in high heels actually stepped on him. Brother Fai truly is too professional."

[2011.04.10] NICK CHEUNG KA FAI LOSES SLEEP DUE TO THE HONG KONG FILM AWARDS

courtesy of on.cc

Nick Cheung Ka Fai with the Emperor Film STOOL PIGEON (SIN YUN) was nominated for the Hong Kong Film Award Best Actor, in competition with his co-star Nicholas Tse Ting Fung, Jacky Cheung Hok Yau, Chow Yun Fat and Tony Leung Ka Fai. Ting Fung yesterday shopped for clothing to wear to the show with his wife Cecilia Cheung Pak Chi. Ka Fai meanwhile was settling his emotions then considered whether he would wear the award winning white suit again. As for his chances, Ka Fai said, "Every nominee is at least on par. (Being polite before the battle?) It's not like we are getting in a ring to fight! (Have you begun to lose sleep from being nervous?) I have always been a long term sleep loss sufferer."

Nominated for Best Actress with another Emperor film DETECTIVE DEE AND THE MYSTERY OF THE PHANTOM FLAME (DIK YUN KIT ji TUNG TIN DAI GOK), Carina Lau Ka Ling due to many label fashion and jewelry sponsorships for the red carpet was still undecided. Ka Ling perhaps was waiting to find out whether her husband Tony Leung Chiu Wai would accompany her.

[2011.03.29] PETER HO HAS HELLISH TRAINING

courtesy of takungpao.com

BIAN DI LANG YAN yesterday held a production start press conference in Hengdian. The film starred Peter Ho Yun Tung, Tony Leung Ka Fai, Mainland actor Xiao Songjia, Mickey He Shengming and John Woo's daughter Angeles Woo (Ng Fei Ha). In the film Ho Yun Tung played a sniper, his first military character.

Speaking of the character, Ho Yun Tung said, "My pressure is enormous because it is the first time I play a soldier, the role is very heavy and in particular co-starring with Best Actor Big Brother Leung Ka Fai, I have to get it my all." Director David Wu Dai Wai hoped to create a Chinese version of GONE WITH THE WIND for this Lunar New Year to reach the same box office height as LET THE BULLET FLY did last year.

Leung Ka Fai said that Peter landed the role not only due to his tough look and excellent acting but also his honest but humorous personality. Another character in the film, the portrayer of Ghost Shadow, knew he had to be in a nude scene with Peter actually went through a week without rice! Peter said, when he saw the ghost shadow in the film he could not sleep or eat. After work no matter how tired he was he still went to the gym to train. After the training he did not dare to eat anything.

Because the film was about war, it had many gun fight and explosion scenes. To ensure every actor's safety, the team heavily insured them and arranged for 24 hour professional medical team to be on hand. The team also set up an explosion safety knowledge lecture to catch the workers up on safety knowledge. Ho Yun Tung also shared some safety precaution procedures that he experienced in his career and urged everyone that safety came first.

The 30th Hong Kong Film Awards will take place on April 17. Yesterday a press conference was held to announce the nominees. DETECTIVE DEE AND THE MYSTERY OF THE PHANTOM FLAME (DIK YUN KIT ji TUNG TIN DAI GOK) received the most nominations with 13. Carina Lau Ka Ling was nominated for Best Actress with the film along with Tang Wei, Miriam Yeung Chin Wa, Josie Ho Chiu Yi and Fiona Sit Hoi Kei. On the other hand Andy Lau Tak Wa was not nominated for Best Actor with the film, but the Best Actor competition remained fierce as CONFUCIUS' Chow Yun Fat would compete with Jacky Cheung Hok Yau, Nick Cheung Ka Fai, Tony Leung Ka Fai and Nicholas Tse Ting Fung.

The Hong Kong Film Award held a press conference yesterday. Attending guests included the Hong Kong Film Award Association chair Gordon Chan Ka Seung, Cheung Ka Fai, Paw Hee Ching and Dante Lam Chiu Yin. This year is the Hong Kong Film Award's 30th anniversary, the event
designed a series of special effects to open the ceremony. A light show will coordinate with firework in the shape of 30 in Victoria Harbor. This year's award ceremony received 5.98 million in film development fund sponsorships; ATV, Now TV and Hong Kong Radio 2 will broadcast the event live.

Always the center of attention, the Best Actor and Best Actress competitions continue to be fierce this year. Best Actor in particular includes nominees like CONFUCIUS' Chow Yun Fat, CROSSING HENNESSY's Jacky Cheung Hok Yau, BRUCE LEE MY BROTHER's Tony Leung Ka Fai and STOOL PIGEON's Nick Cheung Ka Fai and Nicholas Tse Ting Fung. Currently working
in the Mainland Gat Gor was happy and excited to learn about the nomination. Fat Gor was already nominated for Asian Film Award Best Actor with LET THE BULLETS FLY, which one was he more confident about? He honestly said it was very hard to say. He has not thought about winning an award in a long time because he has not received a Hong Kong Film Award nominations for years, but he would be happy if he would win and happy for others if he would not. Fat Gor would like to participate if he would not be in the Mainland. Speaking of CONFUCIUS, he pointed out that the character was harder to play because he had to play him from middle to old age, the dialogues were in formal Putonghua and he was a historical figure with different image and opinions in everyone's hearts. During the shoot he had a lot of pressure. He had to thank Chui Bo Chu, Yee Chung Man and Peter Pau Tak Fun for this nomination.

Cheung Ka Fai was very happy to learn about his nomination at the press conference. He said that two years ago director Dante Lee Chiu Yin did not receive a Best Director nomination with BEAST STALKER (JING YUN), which he minded a lot. This year he was very happy for the director. He pointed out that that Hong Kong Mainland film co-productions had to meet the market demand, which made maintaining personal style difficult. In recent years he attended many film festivals but as a human he would play favorites. The music of the Hong Kong Film Award was extra intimate. Speaking of his strong competition, Ka Fai said that everyone was strong. He had confidence in himself, if he said that he would win for sure then he would be too arrogant. He would already be happy for anyone from STOOL PIGEON who won, whether it would be him or Ting Fung. Earlier he was afraid that he has won before and he would not win again, but he believed the Hong Kong Film Award was fair. During the first round voting, he voted for himself and Kwai Lun-Mei for Best Actress. Teddy Robin Kwan had quite a major part in GALLANTS (DA LUI TOI) but was only nominated for Best Supporting Actor. Ka Fai said that this was the film company's calculation and measurement, he thought Teddy Robin was a Lead Actor. Tse Ting Fung said that he would face it in peace because if he was too confident he would give himself pressure, which instead was not good. He thought that this was not his credit, completely because of a good director, good actors, everything together I was able to play such a good character.

In addition, Lam Chiu Yin was very happy for finally receiving a nomination. Yet earlier Ka Fai won so many awards, which already filled the void in his heart. This time STOOL PIGEON had great response and he was very happy that Ting Fung, Ka Fai and Uncle Chi were all nominated. Was he confident about the award? He joked that he was confident about walking the red carpet. When asked whether Ting Fung or Ka Fai would win, he honestly said that it was very hard to pick. The best would be dual Best Actors. Yet Ka Fai has always won so many awards earlier, giving one to Ting Fung would be good too.

[2010.12.12] AARIF RAHMAN PICKS UP DANCE STEPS OVERNIGHT

courtesy of takungpao.com

Aarif Rahman (Lee Chi Ting) and Jennifer Tse Ting Ting worked together in the new film BRUCE LEE MY BROTHER and built a friendship as they and the rest cast seemed to have joined a big family. Lee Chi Ting and Tse Ting Ting knew about superstar Bruce Lee since
childhood. This time through the new film they learned about Bruce Lee's wild youth.

Bruce Lee's name would always remind people of his Jeet Kuen Do and nunchukus. In the new film BRUCE LEE MY BROTHER, not only could the narrative of the family from Bruce Lee's brother Robert Lee Chun Fai be seen, but also things that few knew about this superstar of a generation. Playing Bruce Lee in the film, Lee Chi Ting in order to bring this superstar's story to life not only worked out but also felt a lot of pressure. He said, "Playing Bruce Lee I initially had pressure, but our team had great team spirit. Director (Raymond) Yip Wai Man gave me confidence and shared some of the pressure with me. Finally the pressure gradually reduced. The team was like a big family, with (Tony) Leung Ka Fai who played the father teaching me which direction to act and seemingly gave me a professional actor's blueprint; (Christy) Chung Lai Tai who played the mother gave me an impression of being very pretty and elegantly sexy. After working together each time we met she would give me a very happy hug, truly like a mother with a son. Ting Ting and other actors became my good friends after working together."

Lee Chi Ting honestly said that since childhood he already knew about Bruce Lee's agility. In the new film the most memorable scenes remained action scenes. He said, "The most memorable of course was the fight scene in the rice warehouse because I had to concentrate on the fight scene and display the ferocious side. Another was the dance scene with (Angela) Gong Mi. The night before the shot I received the changes and finally I only spent a night to learn the dance steps. Everyone though the result was decent, that scene was also very memorable."

Tse Ting Ting put a lot of effort into her big screen debut. Although her role was small, she already thought it was decent. Tse Ting Ting said, "I feel having the chance to play this character in my first film is great. I also learn about the film production process and feel
like a family with the team. Everyone united on this same mission, which to me is a good start."

As for her knowledge of Bruce Lee, Tse Ting Ting since childhood already knew that he was a great fighter. Although she did not know much about Bruce Lee, she knew that Bruce Lee's spirit was never giving up and doing even better in the face of a challenge. Speaking of production highlight, Tse Ting Ting would often smile from the heart. She said that off the set she had a lot of laughs, the communications between actors, and even the fortune to enjoy Lee Chi Ting's drum and piano playing all were unforgettable memories for her.

He revealed that not only was he busy with a new TVB series but also with guest starring in the Lunar New Year film I LOVE HONG KONG. In the film Sandra Ng Kwan Yu, Tony Leung Ka Fai and Stanley Fung Shui Fan had to pretend to be ghosts to scare him. During the shoot he thought it was very funny.

Leung Ching Kok also had scenes with Kwan Yu. As a villain she even had to play mean and pinch Kwan Yu. At first she did not dare to and Kwan Yu had to encourage her to use force.

[2010.12.09] AARIF RAHMAN HAS NO IDEA WHAT MAKES HIS CHARACTER SPECIAL

courtesy of takungpao.com

Janice Man Wing Shan and Aarif Rahman (Lee Chi Ting) yesterday attended a watch event and received new watches. Aarif's film BRUCE LEE, MY BROTHER received good reviews, which made him very happy. Bruce Lee's sister after the premiere tearfully thanked him, he was
flattered. Recently he is busy with the I LOVE HONG KONG production. In the film he and Fala Chen had the most scenes. Did he need to be funny? He said with Eric Tsang Chi Wai and Tony Leung Ka Fai he did not need to be. He also denied that he mainly had romantic scenes but in the end he could not say how his character was unique.

Carina Lau Ka Ling, Pansy Ho Chiu King, Jennifer Tse Ting Ting, Kathy Chow Man Kei and Shawn Yue Man Lok were among the guests at the Lane Crawford party last night. Cecilia Cheung Pak Chi addressed her as Sister Ka Ling online and said that their dispute rumors promoted the new film. Reporters joked that Ka Ling had a new nickname. She joked, "I should! I am older than her, she is so much younger than me. Actually on the set she calls me that too. (Did you call her younger sister?) This business rarely calls people that. (Sister Pak Chi?) She is so much younger than me." Ka Ling also felt that the dispute rumor was a promotional gimmick, but she did not know whether it helped the film. She reiterated that she was not at odds with Pak Chi and they occasionally had contact.

She was absent from the Macau promotion because her role has been completed. As for her salary being higher than Pak Chi's, she said, "I can't talk about that, maybe it is maybe it isn't. Even if it is it's not surprising. (You were rumored to be the highest paid actor in the film?) You said it, I didn't. (Thus you were at odds?) Magazines definitely have to say that. They need big headlines, otherwise no one would buy them. (Did you ask Pak Chi?) I won't talk about others, these are business secrets." Because Ka Ling only guest starred for four days, if she was paid over 1 million a day, she would have made 6 million. She said that was impossible, but she and the investors were very satisfied with the amount. It was reasonable and decent. She also praised Raymond Wong Pak Ming for knowing what to do. Will she just guest star from now on? She said, "That's not bad! I can cure my acting bug yet I don't have to spend so much time. However with a good script and team I will make movies again."

Ting Ting starred BRUCE LEE, MY BROTHER has already been released, but she did not noticed the box office. Because she has already completed all promotions, she could not worry about anything else. Tony Leung Ka Fai also taught her to say doing her part well was enough. As for her boyfriend's review of her performance, she did not directly answer. She only said that her boyfriend knew about her production process and felt happy for her. She also revealed that at the premiere her parents kept laughing because they knew some of the characters in the film. Speaking of her father Patrick Tse Yin's courtships, Ting Ting laughed the loudest. Did she look forward to making another movie? She gave a certain nod and particularly wanted to work on an action film. She also hoped to be able to work with her family if not the entire family. She would like to work with her parents first, then with her brother because working with her brother had more pressure. She would like to show a straight take to her
brother.

The Shaw and TVB produced Lunar New Year film I LOVE HONG KONG (NGOR OI HK HOI SUM MAN SHUI) yesterday held a worship ceremony at Shaw Film City. Like last year's 72 TENANTS OF PROSPERITY (72 GA JO HAT) over 100 actors will participate. Yet TVB favorite Raymond Lam Fung was not on the cast yet. TVB executive Elaine Lok Yi Ling and producer Eric Tsang Chi Wai both supported Lam Fung and denied that he was kicked out because he lacked draw. They said that they were still working on his schedule. Chi Wai however advised Lam Fung to start from the bottom and should not only play rich kid roles.

Yesterday over fifty actors attended the ceremony but the cast was weaker than last year's as it only relied on outside help like Tony Leung Ka Fai, Sandra Ng Kwan Yu and Maggie Cheung Ho Yi. The only TVB diva in attendance was Fala Chen and other TVB actors were absent as well. The guest star cast list did not include top TVB young actor Lam Fung. Chi Wai said that the film will be done in 12 days so at any minute Lam Fung will return to guest star. The list was not confirmed. Was he afraid that Lok Yi Ling would complain? He said that she would not, whoever had time will come. Earlier Shaw executive Wong Ka Hei after a few drinks said that Lam Fung's draw was overestimated, which made THE JADE AND THE PEARL (FEI CHUI MING JU) a bomb. Were they afraid of getting Lam Fung to star again? Chi Wai said, "Of course not, suitable character was the most important. Lam Fung is an idol for young people and we are full of confidence in him." However, Chi Wai felt that many superstars played some thugs and lower class characters and rose to fame. Lam Fung did not have to play a rich kid and should play some lower class people; later Chi Wai reiterated that this film did not have any rich kid role.

Lok Yi Ling and Wong Ka Hei yesterday appeared together. Was it awkward for her to run into Wong Ka Hei? She asked why would it be, as they would see each other four times a week. Earlier he criticized Lam Fung after drinking, she said that she knew him for over a decade and he often told the truth after drinking. She knew what he said was true and what was not. As for the earlier comment, she believed that the footage was edited. She joked that she would not ask him to stop drinking because she still had to drink for him. Speaking of Lam Fung not having a part, she said that Lam Fung's schedule could not be booked after three tries. Since the production had to start, they could not wait for him. In the future Lam Fung will mainly work on series and concert tours instead of movies. Was it because Lam Fung lacked film draw? She felt that the success of a film was not due to one person. Everyone had a responsibility.

Wong Ka Hei stuttered when he talked about his earlier comment. He reiterated that he did not say Lam Fung could not carry the load or that he was bad. He hoped that everyone would not turn a mountain out of a mole hill. Will he stop drinking? He said that he should drink a little less. Earlier he was reported to be "suspended" over the matter, he awkwardly laughed but did not answer. As for his current position, he said, "For 40 years it has been that one. (Have earlier comments affected that?) I don't want to talk about that, I don't want to make matters worse."

Kwan Yu yesterday appeared as a rich wife. In the film she and Ka Fai had many intimate scenes, but because they lived in public housing, they had to be quiet to keep their child from hearing. Kwan Yu said that she has not tried that in real life because she had ample space. Yesterday Chi Wai jokingly thanked Kwan Yu for joining the good guys this year and helping him with the Lunar New Year. She joked that she did not dare to say that because Raymond Wong Pak Ming was also her boss. Perhaps next year Wong Pak Ming and Chi Wai will work on a Lunar New Year together. As for Wong Pak Ming asking Carina Lau Ka Ling and Cecilia Cheung Pak Chi for his Lunar New Year film, did she have any pressure? She joked, "How can I compare to Ka Ling and Pak Chi, everyone knows that in terms of looks and figures I am the prettiest."

Adam Cheng Siu Chau earlier fell from a four meter high hill while working on his new TVB series and injured his right shoulder. Chau Guoon said when Joyce Cheng Yun Yi called him she was so worried that she cried. Yesterday Yun Yi attended the ceremony. She said, "Why does my old man reveal this stuff about me?"

Yun Yi said that that night she heard from a TVB director that her father fell and was hospitalized for an injury. She immediately called her father but no one answered. Later Father called her back and she felt better to hear his voice. He consoled her and told her not to worry. Yun yi pointed out that her father felt the shoulder injury, so he went to the hospital for an examination. After resting a day he started work again.

Was she so worried that she cried? Yun Yi said that she did not know. She said that everyone thought that her father was very young but actually he was not. She pointed out that her father was very professional and hard working. He did not want to slow down the production and jumped back into work. She was the most afraid that he was acting tough. Yun Yi said that she will not disturb him right now but they will stay in contact.

[2010.11.20] CHRISTY CHUNG LOSES SHOE IN BEIJING PREMIERE

courtesy of takungpao.com

BRUCE LEE MY BROTHER yesterday held a Beijing press conference and premiere. Producer Manfred Wong (Man Jun) and director Raymond Yip Wai Man led Aarif Rahman (Lee Chi Ting), Tony Leung Ka Fai, Angela Gong Mi, Jennifer Tse Ting Ting, Charles Ying Cheung Yau, Zhang
Yishan and others for an appearance. As the film's join producer, Bruce Lee's brother Robert Lee Chun Fai also attended the press conference and talked about the kung fu superstar's 70 year old legend.

The actors at the premiere showed off their talent. Lee Chun Fai said that the trailer was very fitting to the image of Bruce Lee in his heart. Speaking of Bruce Lee portrayer Lee Chi Ting, Lee Chun Fai had nothing but praise. With the film release on the way, Lee Chi Ting said that he had no box office pressure, "During the shoot I worked very hard and I received recognition from the director and Bruce Lee's family, that is enough."

Leung Ka Fai in the film played a famous Cantonese Opera actor Lee Hoi Chuen. When asked to perform Cantonese opera, he humbly said, "This time the lead is my son Bruce Lee, so I will leave the performance opportunities to him." Ka Fai also praised Lee Chi Ting's performance,
"His performance in the film is flawless, particularly in the fight scenes injuries were frequent. It was too cruel." Christy Chung Lai Tai and Ka Fai did not run into each other during the Hong Kong premiere so Christy was very happy to meet this time. She danced with Ka Fai and competed in martial art. She was so excited that when she kicked she lost her shoe. Ka Fai secretly said that if she tossed her shoe off stage many people would fight for it!

First time actress Tse Ting Ting not only was very nervous about and paid a lot of attention to this film, even her family was worried. Father Patrick Tse Yin often visited the set. During the Hong Kong premiere her boyfriend and parents were present and gave her a shot of confidence. Yet she still was very nervous during the screening and even squeezed her boyfriend's arm hard. She said, "I was afraid that I would shatter his arm!" Lee Chi Ting said, "Your boyfriend's arm can't be shattered!"

[2010.11.06] NO ONE UNDERSTANDS CHRISTY CHUNG'S LINES

courtesy of takungpao.com

BRUCE LEE MY BROTHER (LEI SIU LUNG) will be released nation wide on November 25. In the film Aarif Rahman (Lee Chi Ting) played Bruce Lee, while Tony Leung Ka Fai and Christy Chung Lai Tai played Bruce Lee's parents.

Because Bruce Lee's mother Ho Oi Yu had mixed heritage, the role had to be Chung Lai Tai. Chung Lai Tai felt very excited to be able to make another film but her Cantonese has worsen and memorizing lines was very difficult. Sometimes she would deliver a pile of lines and thought that she was very successful, but no one on the set understood what she was saying. However she was very lucky to play a couple with Ka Fai because Ka Fai was a very attentive "husband" and took great care of her. He was more gentle off camera than on camera. Christy felt that he absolutely was 100% model good husband.

Ka Fai said that when he found out about the character, he immediately agreed because he thought being able to play Bruce Lee's father Lee Hoi Chuen was his honor. Lee Chi Ting even continuously praised Ka Fai for helping him a lot. Due to his lack of experience, he was worried that he would embarrass himself in front of this Best Actor. However after working together, whenever he came up short Ka Fai would advise him with a lot of attention and did not blame him once. He was very touched and never imagined the big actor would have no arrogance at
all.

In one scene the Lee family was very cheerful during the New Year, as many film stars came to play mahjong at the Lee home. Cheung Tat Ming (as Fung Fung), Lawrence Cheng Tan Shui (as Ko Lo Chuen), Candy Yu On On (as Mrs. Cho Tat Wa), Kristy Yang Kung Yu (as Mui Kei) and others guest starred. Producer Manfred Wong (Man Jun) even permitted his own daughter
to play the child star Petrina Fung Bo Bo. They were all salutes to the 50s Hong Kong film industry.

The film BRUCE LEE MY BROTHER (LEI SIU LUNG) that honors martial art master of a generation Bruce Lee's 70th birthday yesterday held a press conference in Huaxin Village, Jiangyin. Directors Manfred Wong (Man Jun) and Raymond Yip Wai Man led stars Araif Rahman (Lee Chi Ting), Tony Leung Ka Fai and Christy Chung Lai Tai in attendance.

The trailer was unveiled at the event for the first time. One of the film's climaxes, the rice warehouse fight, opened the video. The eye dazzling series of kicks along with Bruce Lee's unique and classic scream instantly sent the viewers' blood to the boiling point. Reportedly this two minute long trailer was already shown at the earlier Venice International Film Festival and already attracted the attention of many international buyers. In Japan it already created the single film sale record for a Chinese film in recent years.

Man Jun said, Bruce Lee's life truly contained too many legends. The ones about his growth, hot blooded youth, martial art study and his passion all have been condensed into the film. Thus BRUCE LEE MY BROTHER could be called the Hong Kong version of IN THE HEAT OF THE SUN. The other joint director Yip Wai Man revealed that in order for the film to be able to a release before Bruce Lee's birthday, the entire team has been in battle status for several months in a row. Now finally most of the post production work has been completed. The release date has been confirmed to be before Bruce Lee's 70th birthday.
The Jiangyin city government has shown much love to the BRUCE LEE MY BROTHER team. It not only arranged for the press conference location but also invited the team as guests to ring the 148 ton "Top Bell of the World" in the Happy Garden.
