The world's first 3D wu xia film FLYING SWORDS OF DRAGON GATE (LUNG MOON FEI GAP 3D) two nights ago held its premiere in Macau.  Director Tsui Hark and the cast including Jet Li (Lee Nin Kit), Zhou Xun, Chen Kun, Chris Lee Yuchun, and Kwai Lun-Mei walked the red carpet together.  Lead actors Lee Nin Kit and Chen Kun both wore black suits.  Lee Nin Kit had a pair of sunglasses and was full of star power.  Lead actresses Zhou Xun and Lee Yuchun appeared in blue and red, but they could not rival guest Candy Yu On On's fire.

With a lot of performance experience Lee Yuchun and Chen Kun fought over the new comer title.  Lee Yuchun said that she was the newest among the cast, but Chen Kun said that he was a 3D film new comer.  Lee Yuchun pointed out that working with a group of experienced actors was stressful for her, but fortunately she learned a lot during the process.  She thought while making a movie her body had to handle a lot, which was very different from singing.  In the film she had to wield a 30 catty Guan Blade.  After every training her arms would be very tired.  Later she even discovered that she had "little mice" in her arms.  In the film Lee Yuchun fought with Mavis Fan Hiu Huen for Chen Kun, finally Lee Yuchun ended up with him.  Would Yuchun fight for someone she likes in real life?  She said that she has always been more passive.  This time she played the character in the film.

How many points would Chen Kun give Lee Yuchun?  Chen Kun praised this new comer for being a pleasant surprise for everyone.  However he joked that once he and the crew watched Yuchun sing on television and thought that she looked very handsome when she sang.  They could not help but sent her praises via text messages.  When Yuchun returned to the set he thought she was completely different.  Chen Kun also said that he already saw FLYING in the Beijing premiere and described it as "shocking".

Kwai Lun-Mei this time in the film played a tough character.  Some said that she originally wanted to play Fan Hiu Huen's gentler character.  Kwai Lun_Mei denied that and said that she wanted to try different characters.  She joked that perhaps the director saw STOOL PIGEON (SIN YUN) and thought that she could play tough too.  In the film she had many action scenes, which were the greatest challenges in her career because she had to wield many large weapons.  Did she want to shake off that pristine image with this film?  She said that it was not deliberate, as she took roles naturally.

Fiona Sit Hoi Kei recently caught the flu and even spread it on the set.  Later she will have to record and prepare for her July Hong Kong Coliseum concert.  Although she has been busy, her mother knew how tough she had it.  Despite rarely going to the kitchen she still made soup and fried rice for her.

Earlier Jackie Chan publicly said that his son Jaycee Chan (Fong Cho Ming)'s acting was not mature enough.  Sit Hoi Kei pointed out that many friends inside and outside the industry thought Cho Ming should have received a Best Actor nomination with BREAK UP CLUB (FUN SAU SHUET OI NEI).  Even the on screen mother Candy Yu On ON praised his acting.  Did she comfort Cho Ming?  She said that she would not mention news that was not good or not real too much.  Cho Ming would only approach her if he had something that he wanted to talk about, normally he would talk more about happier matter.  Have she and Cho Ming had less contact after break up?  Sit Hoi Kei said that they neither dated nor broke up.  Sit Hoi Kei joked that both Cho Ming and Khalil Fong Datong were his good friends.

Nick Cheung Ka Fai, Janice Man Wing Shan and others yesterday promoted their film NIGHTFALL (DAI JUI BO) on Ngong Ping 360.  Ka Fai in the film had to fight on the cable car.  He said that while shooting in the crystal cabin he looked down and was frightened.  He even revealed that Simon Yam Tat Wa suffered from motion sickness on the cable car from the shoot.

Cheung Ka Fai, Janice Man, Candy Yu On On and others yesterday attended the appreciation banquet.  The event arranged for everyone to take the cable car to the venue.  However, Yu On On due to her fear of
heights did not and arrived in a car instead.

As for the cable car fight in the film, Ka Fai gave his vote of confidence.  He said, "I didn't feel it was dangerous.  Ngong Ping 360 is a tourist landmark.  If it wasn't 200% safe it wouldn't be flinging back and forth above the hill!"  He also took the chance to thank Ngong Ping 360's support of the film.  However, due to how high it was above ground, Ka Fai admitted the the crystal cabin shoot was rather scary.  He said, "I was scared from looking down the glass in this height.  I also had to jump from the Peak.  Everyone had great coordination!"  He stressed that not just DARK KNIGHT was able to capture the beautiful scenery of Hong Kong.

Ka Fai also said that because he did not have breakfast before the shoot Yam Tat Wa had motion sickness on the cable car.  In addition, Yu On On said that due to her fear of heights she would not ride any cable car.  She said, "For a short distance I can, like riding a helicopter.  Even with planes I can overcome the fear!"  Ka Fai also revealed that On On drank him under the table.  Ka Fai said, "I drank with her in the Mainland, I drank so much I went back to the hotel and fell into bed.  It was quite memorable."

The Hong Kong Film Award Best Supporting Actress nominee Candice Yu On On lost to Susan Shaw Yam Yam. She was already happy with the nomination so she was not too disappointed. Two nights ago On On also attended the film company celebration, Jackie Chan gave her a kiss to console her. Last night she explained, "As soon as Jackie Chan saw me, he flew over and gave me a kiss. He also praised my performance in the film as great! I guess when Jackie Chan sees a girl he would use this 'Xu Jinglei style' kiss! Having known him for years, we are already very close. I am not worried about rumors." On On already called Best Actress Carina Lau Ka Ling to congratulate her, when Ka Ling picked up the phone her high spirits could be heard. She was happy for her as well.

[2011.04.11] HONG KONG FILM AWARD BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS COMPETITION IS FIERCE

courtesy of singtao.com

With six days away from the 30th Hong Kong Film Award, the countdown has begun. Let us first take a look at the Best Supporting Actress nominees, including CROSSING HENNESSY (YUET MOON HIN NEI SI)'s Mimi Choo and Paw Hee Ching, GALLANTS (DA LUI TOI)'s Susan Shaw Yam Yam, CITY UNDER SIEGE (CHUEN SING GAI BEI)'s Zhang Jingchu and ONCE A GANGSTER (FEI SA FUNG JUNG SHUEN)'s Candy Yu On On. All are good actresses so the competition is fierce.

Taking a look at the five nominees, the 28th Hong Kong Film Award Best Actress Paw Hee Ching's acting has long been recognized. She has been nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the 19th and the 23rd Hong Kong Film Award. This time in CROSSING she appeared in heavy make up and left a deep impression. Since she has already won Best Actress she had an edge. Her CROSSING co-star Mimi Choo has been in show business for years. Her acting also belonged to the substance school. However it still is her first nomination and she is less of a favorite.

As for the 27th Hong Kong Film Award Best Supporting Actress Shaw Yam Yam with THE PYE DOG (YEH LEUNG HUEN), she is nominated this year again. The competition this time does not lack Best Actress and frequent Hong Kong Film Award nominees, seemingly her chances are half cold. On the other hand Yu On On was nominated earlier with MY NAME IS FAME (NGOR YIU SING MING). After the defeat she returns again in the same category. Her unusually trendy mob mother in ONCE was pleasantly surprising and refreshing, her chances are higher. As for the frequent Hong Kong Film Award nominee in recent years, Zhang Jingchu has been nominated for Best Supporting Actress or Best Actress at the 25th, 27th and 29th Hong Kong Film Award. Although all three times the award brushed her by, she still keeps on fighting. Against strong competition her potential should not be overlooked.

[2010.11.06] NO ONE UNDERSTANDS CHRISTY CHUNG'S LINES

courtesy of takungpao.com

BRUCE LEE MY BROTHER (LEI SIU LUNG) will be released nation wide on November 25. In the film Aarif Rahman (Lee Chi Ting) played Bruce Lee, while Tony Leung Ka Fai and Christy Chung Lai Tai played Bruce Lee's parents.

Because Bruce Lee's mother Ho Oi Yu had mixed heritage, the role had to be Chung Lai Tai. Chung Lai Tai felt very excited to be able to make another film but her Cantonese has worsen and memorizing lines was very difficult. Sometimes she would deliver a pile of lines and thought that she was very successful, but no one on the set understood what she was saying. However she was very lucky to play a couple with Ka Fai because Ka Fai was a very attentive "husband" and took great care of her. He was more gentle off camera than on camera. Christy felt that he absolutely was 100% model good husband.

Ka Fai said that when he found out about the character, he immediately agreed because he thought being able to play Bruce Lee's father Lee Hoi Chuen was his honor. Lee Chi Ting even continuously praised Ka Fai for helping him a lot. Due to his lack of experience, he was worried that he would embarrass himself in front of this Best Actor. However after working together, whenever he came up short Ka Fai would advise him with a lot of attention and did not blame him once. He was very touched and never imagined the big actor would have no arrogance at
all.

In one scene the Lee family was very cheerful during the New Year, as many film stars came to play mahjong at the Lee home. Cheung Tat Ming (as Fung Fung), Lawrence Cheng Tan Shui (as Ko Lo Chuen), Candy Yu On On (as Mrs. Cho Tat Wa), Kristy Yang Kung Yu (as Mui Kei) and others guest starred. Producer Manfred Wong (Man Jun) even permitted his own daughter
to play the child star Petrina Fung Bo Bo. They were all salutes to the 50s Hong Kong film industry.

Pat Ha Man Jik, William Chan Wai Ting, Carrie Ng Ka Lai, Candy Yu On On, Michelle Ye (Yip Shuen) and Bonnie Xian (Sin Sik Lai) starred film CHOOK GWAI DIK NUI YUN (OFF THE RAIL WOMEN) yesterday held a production start ceremony. The actors and director Poon Yuen Leung participated in a roast pig cutting ceremony.

Ha Man Jik said that she has not made a film in a long time. In addition she was not used to sleeping late. After the first day she could only sleep with the help of medicine. She would be fine once she gradually adjusted to it. Chan Wai Ting said that he had intimate scenes with her in every scene, she joked that it was a lie. Even if they did they were only in the proximity of intimacy, which was exaggerated. The director should be asked about the level of intimacy. Would she be sexy in the film? Ha Man Jik said that Yip Shuen and Ng Ka Lai would be more amazing. She joked that she was old and at most only dared to show her back. She said, "If others saw me I would be doing a spit take. I have already lost five pounds though, maybe from all the pressure." She also praised Chan Wai Ting's performance. In one scene she fell under his spell. She said that she has not seen Chan Wai Ting's revealing scene but complimented that he was in great shape. Ha Man Jik honestly said that the production has been somewhat physically demanding but very smooth. She said that now she is in negotiation with Willie Chan Chi Keung about a new film. Due to scheduling conflict, both films would shoot simultaneously.

Chan Wai Ting said that in the film he played a gigolo. He would have intimate scenes with Ha Man Jik, Ng Ka Lai and Yip Shuen. He honestly said that he would have a kiss scene with Ha Man Jik. Would he have touching scenes? He said yes but he did not have any pressure. He said, "Ha Man Jik and I actually have the same birthday, I feel very intimate." Did he already have experience from working with Vivian Chow Wai Man earlier? He honestly said that he had more experience and knew how to communicate. Chan Wai Ting said that earlier he worked on a daring scene in which his manager Yu On On tested his conditions at a night club. He said, "I had to masturbate in front of her and the camera, I felt a little scared." Would he show his rear? He said that the director has been great, permitting him to put on underwear then folding it to hide it. It felt like wearing a thong. He joked that his rear would be on display this way too. Did he get himself into shape first? He said that his legs have always been thin so his rear looked big in comparison. Chan Wai Ting pointed out that Yu On On asked why he did not remove his underwear for the scene and suggested for him to learn an actor's professional ethics. He honestly said that for now he could not accept it and needed further adjustment.

Ng Ka Lai said that she had intimate scenes with Chan Wai Ting but would not feel embarrassed. Because she has made many love scenes before, this was a piece of cake. Did she see Chan Wai Ting's revealing scene? She said that she has not had the pleasure so far. She said that she and Ha Man Jik back then worked together on LIFE IS A MOMENT (CHIU FA JIK HUP). Although they only had a few scenes together, when they ran into each other again they still remembered working together. They also praised each other for looking great at their age.
