Hello Film Fans and Fanatics!
Welcome to Film Fan Fridays for Friday January 30, 2009! We have a jammed packed week filled with regular releases, special screenings and our first film festival of the year.
In limited release this week we have one film, Luck by Chance a comedy set in it's very own Bollywood film industry setting and looks pretty funny at that.
In wide release this week we have three films, Taken a crime/thrilled based on kidnapping starring Liam Neeson which is finally being releases here in Canada and the States. I'm not really into kidnapping flicks but considering Pierre Morel (District B13) is directed I think it will tip the balance. The January horror remakes releases continue with The Uninvited, a remake of the South Korean Ji-woon Kim film Janghwa, Hongryeon / A Tale of Two Sisters. We also have the romantic comedy New in Town starring Renée Zellweger and Harry Connick Jr.
We also have our first festival of the year with The 8 Fest Small-Gauge Film Festival. Numerous special screenings grace Toronto this year, suited to fit any fancy from wrestling, mushrooms, Liverpool or Canadiana. See details on the screenings below and for upcoming festivals and special screenings you can always check the new 2009 Toronto Film Festival Calendar.
Have a great weekend!
Shannon
