DVD Releases: December 15, 2009

Is it just me or does it feel like a light week for DVD Releases? Maybe I'm still riding high over all the Harry Potter choices from last week. But there are a few that are on my list and are certainly some biggies that will make many a Holiday wish list.

Looking Interesting
Ok, I'll admit it. I laughed a lot during the trailers for G-Force - not so much that I went to see it in the theatre but if it crossed my path I would certainly give it the time of day because it looks so freaking cute. Next up is Ang Lee's latest with Taking Woodstock, based on the memoir by Elliot Tiber and has one heck of a cast including Henry Goodman, Imelda Staunton, Emile Hirsch, Paul Dano, Kelli Garner and Jeffrey Dean Morgan. Also being released on DVD is The Headless Woman which played recently here in Toronto at Cinematheque Ontario and the highly praised animated film Sita Sings the Blues.

Wildcards
The very definition of a wildcard this week is Fighter, which was a challenge find any information on but it appears to be this film on IMDb and the cover act caught me as it infers a female protagonist fighter - always interesting. From the small screen to DVD comes The Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie, who knew there was a TV show based on kids that do magic? Not me until today! Also out is All Tomorrow's Parties which uses multiple sources to create a music/concert documentary about the All Tomorrow's Parties festival. Last wildcard is The Other Man a drama that involves what looks like a bit of a love triangle and stars Laura Linney, Liam Neeson and Antonio Banderas.

Blu-Ray & Not a Film, but...still awesome
Star Trek: The Original Series
, all three seasons on Blu-Ray. Dang, that would be really really cool to have.

Da Biggies
It's like all the testosterone is expelled at the same time this week with the biggies, however that should make for some sure fire holiday shopping with The Hangover, and Inglourious Basterds and The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard.
