DVD Releases: February 23, 2010

After last week with only a few notable choices for the week we are back for a jammed packed Tuesday of awesome looking DVD releases. First up is the documentary The September Issue, which the fashionistias will know is the creation of the bible that is the September issue of Vogue and I can't believe I haven't seen this one! Next up is one I've seen and loved which is The Damned United, a biopic starring Michael Sheen (Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, The Queen) as football manager Brian Clough and his obsession and involvement with the United Team in the late 60's / early 70's. Going back to the land of fiction we have the adapted from the first three books in The Saga of Darren Shan book series Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant vampire adventure film. And more docs with Big River Man which follows Slovenian endurance swimmer Martin Strel's in his attempt to swim the Amazon River.

There are a whole slew of films that are coming out to DVD that look interesting but I would really love to know more about. First up is a set of Canadian films Love and Savagery which is a a romance set in 1968 Ireland and also the Canadian documentary Examined Life. There is also the much acclaimed animated film $9.99, quirky looking French film Shall We Kiss, Australian naval officers on the loose in Three Blind Mice and Uma Thurman mother comedy Motherhood.

Blu Ray
Just in time for the release of the remake, you can see the original George A. Romero's The Crazies (1973) on Blu Ray.

TV on DVD
If you missed them, you can now see the following TV shows on DVD: fantastic debut season of Nurse Jackie Season 1 and Project Runway Season 6.

A few bigger titles hitting the racks include the Matt Damon whistle blower based on real story yet a comedy The Informant!, the 'what would you do' questioning thriller The Box and all about the family drama Everybody's Fine starring Robert DeNiro, Drew Barrymore, Kate Beckinsale and Sam Rockwell.
