Split Votes - Canadian, North American, UK & Australian Box Office February 19, 2010 Weekend

Not many consistencies this week with Shutter Island landing n#1 in Canada & North America, but Avatar claims the spot in the UK and Valentine's Day enjoys it's second week at #1. We'll see how Shutter Island does in the UK after it's released on March 12, 2010.

In Canada, Shutter Island is only the second film to beat Avatar to #1 at the box office, but it does the least weekend gross in 2010 with $2.99M CAN. But, comparative to last year, that is more than any films weekend gross in January or February 2009. Then, if we look at Shutter Island's North American debut, it took home a $41.06M USD, which places it about in the middle of the weekend grosses of the North America this year, but below Valentine's Day which debuted at $56.26M and above Dear John which debuted at $30.47M USD. Out of the remaining films that released this weekend here in Toronto, none of them made either the charts.

in the UK Avatar lands #1 in it's 10th week of release, new films on the charts included The Lovely Bones which lands at #3 and Solomon Kane which makes it mark at #7.

In Australia, Valentine's Day lands at #1 but Shutter Island is very close behind at #2 with less than $2,000 between the two films. New on the charts is From Paris with Love which debuted at #6, The Hurt Locker at #8, Crazy Heart at #12 and Celine: Through the Eyes of the World at #18.
