The year to-date box office tally picked up some ground versus last year with the past week running 12% ahead of the same week last year. The actual weekend openings for Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 and Happy Feet Two came in somewhat below the studio projections issued Sunday.

All films in wide release playing between November 14 and November 20 grossed $242 million, up 12% from the same week in 2010 and up a more modest 3% from the average comparable week the past four years. Year to date, all films are now down 3.5% from the same period last year (down significantly from -3.9% last week).

The rest of the studio projections were fairly close to the actuals for the holdover movies.
