The Sked: WEDNESDAY RATINGS January 18

Complete ratings tracks will be updated later than usual.  But first, the main headlines.  American Idol returned from 8-10 pm with a preliminary 7.2 rating with Adults 18-49, down from a 9.7 on the same night last year but still towering over the competition.

The biggest victims of Hurricane Idol were comedies on NBC and ABC.  Whitney dropped to a 1.6 and Are You There, Chelsea? to a 1.8 (after premiering above a 2 rating last week on NBC).  The Middle (2.6) and Suburgatory (2.5) matched season lows on ABC.
