Film Fan Fridays for Friday October 2, 2009

Hello Film Fans and Fanatics!

Welcome to Film Fan Fridays for Friday October 2, 2009! As we enter the tenth month of the year it looks like we are on the road to awards-centric films. Will any be this weeks releases? Only time with tell.

In limited release this week we have just one release with the festival award winning documentary Unmistaken Child which follows the search for a reincarnated Tibetan master.

In wide release this week we have quite the selection of films, including many that have had release dates pushed forward and back again, or are re-releases! But they are all finally hitting the screens this week. First up with have Drew Barrymore's directorial debut with the fantastic Whip It, which is based on the Shauna Cross novel about a misfit who joins a roller derby league in Texas. Also looking delightfully promising is the biopic Coco Avant Chanel starring Audrey Tautou as Coco Chanel. Or for a bit of a change of pace we have Zombieland, the zombie horror/comedy starring Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg and Abigail Breslin. As much as I love zombie films, it's a little strange to see one as a regular release. If you are feeling toy-nostalgic why not check out Toy Story & Toy Story 2 - 3D Double Feature, the first of several scheduled re-releases of animated films updated to be in 3D. We also have the latest Ricky Gervais comedy The Invention of Lying and Michael Moore documentary Capitalism, A Love Story.

Update! Two Bollywood films flew under the radar Do Know Disturb and Wake Up Sid, and are playing downtown at AMC Yonge & Dundas, plus other theatres in Toronto.

Have a great weekend!

Shannon
