DVD Releases: January 5, 2010

Lots of new releases this week, including several Canadian films, TV Seasons and tons of Blu-Rays. Let's get started.

First up some Canadian titles both historically set first up is Before Tomorrow set in 1840 and centres on reuniting of two Inuit families, we also have 50 Dead Men Walking set in 1980 and is an action/thriller based on the IRA from director Kari Skogland (The Stone Angel). Next up, I'm surprized to see that this next film took almost a year to go from theatres to DVD but here it is - the horror/thriller The Unborn, sticking with the born-ness theme we also have The Baby Formula. Next up is Peter Greenaway's biopic on Rembrandt Nightwatching and Japanese action flick Ichi from director Fumihiko Sori (Vexille).

Blu-Ray
There are tons of Blu-Ray releases this week but the two that rise to the top of the crop are certainly John Carpenter's classic horror film The Thing (1982) and Joss Whedon's space western Serenity based on the TV series "Firefly".

Wild Cards
Several wild cards this week starting with the Hong Kong/China drama End of Love, Half-Life a family drama set during the beginning of a global cataclyism, self explanatory title disaster flick Below the Earth's Surface and thriller The Caller starring Frank Langella and Elliot Gould.

TV
Early year seems to be a fair time to TV season releases, this week includes "Chuck" Season 2,
"Little Mosque on the Prairie" Season 3 and "Big Love" Season 3.

I've Heard of That!
Popular titles of the week include horror film The Final Destination 3-D and family animated film Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.
