Emperor Motion Pictures invested 100 million on SHAOLIN (SUN SIU LUM JI), which will be released at the end of January. Director Benny Chan Muk Sing, actors Andy Lau Tak Wa, Nicholas Tse Ting Fung, Fan Bingbing and Jackie Chan began to feel the tension. In SHAOLIN, Ting Fung and Wa Jai had the most scenes together. Most every scenes were close combat. Ting Fung said that during the shoot he felt the pressure and found it hard to take action. After these close combats, he finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Ting Fung in the film played the villain. Although he was not playing the villain for the first time, this time the co-star was a veteran he admired -- Wa Jai. After so many years of acting, they worked together for the first time so he felt certain pressure. He felt that the most challenging was two scenes in which he slapped Wa Jai. In the story the monk Wa Jai tried to reason with Ting Fung in hopes that he would repent. Ting Fung not only did not listen but also slapped Wa Jai. During the shoot, everyone thought that the slap was not hard enough and asked Ting Fung to try again. The second time Ting Fung hit harder, but the result was still not tense enough. Wa Jai knew that Ting Fung was holding back, patted Ting Fung's shoulder and said, "Don't worry! My face is very thick. It shouldn't hurt too much. I am fully ready, the next take just viciously slap away!"

Ting Fung understood that acting with staged action was not the best answer and understood Wa Jai's good intention. In the next take Ting Fung mercilessly slapped and finally everyone was satisfied. Ting Fung breathed a sigh of relief. Director Chan Muk Sing thought this scene was exciting and fun. He immediately added a scene in which power has gone to Ting Fung's head and in the palace he had to step on Wa Jai's chest to display his evil. The director joked that he had to train Ting Fung to become more and more evil, with vicious hands and merciless feet. Ting Fung said that he just let go earlier so this time was no exception. He and Wa Jai winked at each other and had quite an understanding. Finally it was completed in one take.
