Time to take a look at a selection of DVD releases for Tuesday December 13, 2011!
- Kung Fu Panda 2 I literally adored this film; a heart warming animated comedy following the continual adventures of the eternally optimistic Kung Fu Panda Po.
- Fright Night (2011) DVD Review Hilarious remake of the 80's cult-vibed film where a high schooler suspects his neighbour to be a vampire, this time starring with Anton Yelchin, Colin Firth & David Tennent.
- Rise of the Planet of the Apes Impressive and clever re-ignition of the Planet of the Apes saga starring James Franco and Andy Serkis.
- Tanner Hall (DVD Review) Impressive emotionally charged coming of age drama set and centred on a group of girls in a boarding school.
- 13 (DVD/BluRay Review) remake of the brutal 2005 film 13 Tzameti centred on luck, this reinvisioning is unique as it's actually helpmed by the original director Géla Babluani, this time starring Sam Riley, Jason Statham, Mickey Rourke & Ray Winstone.
- Making the Boys Fabulous documentary on the play, film and effect of The Boys in the Band, touted as first representation of gay people as people.
- Les Femmes du 6ème étage / The Women on the 6th Floor This French film *just* came out in Toronto recently, I'm impressed to see it's already hitting DVD (US Release Date March 13, 2012)
- From the Sky Down: Making of Actung Baby U2 Documentary by Davis Guggenheim (US Release Date January 24, 2012)
- Tokyo Drifter and Branded to Kill on DVD & BluRay via Criterion awesome films by Seijun Suzuki, and wow, these would be really sweet to have.
- A Beautiful Life from director Wai-keung Lau (Infernal Affairs) starring Liu Ye, Shu Qi & Tian Liang.
- The Expendables: Extended Cut I'm a little surprized that there is a directors cut of this one, loved the theatrical version and wondered where they would go from there. Mind you, awesome gift choice for action fans!
- The Rocketeer 20th Anniversary Edition on BluRay I feel like this is one of my blind spots in films, as it came out when I was a little too 'cool' for 'kids' movies.
- Transformers Trilogy Giftset includes Transformers, Transformers: Dark of the Moon and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Another great gift selection for fans of the new version of robots in disguise.
