[2011.10.20] ROSE CHAN DOES NOT WANT TO DATE YET

courtesy of singtao.com

Rose Chan Ka Hung yesterday modeled a stocking event.  Today Rose will return to the Mainland to work on two films.  First she will go to Hengdian for Wong Jing's SIU GUNG JUN MO LUM (LAUGHTER KUNG FU ROCKS MARTIAL ART WORLD), then she will go to Yunnan for the Xiong Xinxin directed GUANG HUI SUI YUE.  She will have to fight in both films and expect to wrap up both in January next year.  Would she lose extra money making opportunities?  She said, "My full time job is acting!  However I will have to reschedule some jobs that I took earlier to be done after my return."  Michelle Ye (Yip Shuen) reportedly found a boyfriend in the Mainland, would she like to?  She said, "No, I hope to focus on making movies first."  She also said that if she was dating, communication would be the most important.  Thus she would not mind the issue of geography.  Would she mind finding a Mainland boyfriend?  She said, "I mind dating myself!  Because I will turn 19 next month, I don't want to date so soon.  My birthday wish is for career and not for a boyfriend.  (Would you want a career line?)  I don't want line, the line on my hand (career line) is OK too."

OVERHEARD 2 (SIT TING FUNG WON 2) after six days in release broke 100 million yuan in the Mainland to become the first Chinese commercial film to break the mark this summer. As for its Hong Kong box office, after eight days it already passed 10 million. The film company yesterday held a press conference in Beijing. Producer Derek Yee Tung Sing, directors Alan Mak Siu Fai, Felix Chong Man Keung, stars Lau Ching Wan, Louis Koo Tin Lok, Daniel Wu (Ng Yin Cho), Huang Yi, and Michelle Ye (Yip Shuen) arrived. The most surprising was that Goo Jai who injured his leg earlier also attended in support on crutches.

When the event began, Bon film industry chief Yu Dong pointed out, "This film has already broken the TRIPLE TAP (CHEUNG WONG JI WONG)'s earlier Chinese police film record. Right now it is the Bona film with the highest first week box office and the fastest Chinese commercial film to pass 100 million this summer." He pointed out that this celebration was a "hero meeting", meaning that OVERHEARD 2's record was due to each box office hero's hard work. He was very confident that OVERHEARD 2 box office would head to 300 million yuan.

Producer Yee Tung Sing at the event congratulated Chong Man Keung and Mak Siu Fai. Chong and Mak also took the chance to express thank to the audience. Chong Man Keung pointed out that the success of the film was not only due to the team's effort but also the audience's support. Originally recovering at home, Koo Tin Lok also appeared and stated that originally he wanted to participated in the OVERHEARD 2 premiere and national promotional tour. However his leg has not recovered and he could not, which he regretted. His doctor and manager originally prohibited him from attending this celebration, but now with the film's commercial and critical success, he wanted to meet the audience to share this joy. He also would like to make OVERHEARD 3 with the team.

Lau Ching Wan said that this series of films was sentimental to him because it changed him. He said, "After making WRITTEN BY (JOI SUN HO) for awhile I didn't want to make another film. OVERHEARD changed my mind." He also hoped that this series would continue. Originally Ng Yin Cho could not confirm whether he would attend but he still took time to so the Three Musketeers finally reunited.

Speaking of OVERHEARD 2's copyright violation, Yu Dong pointed out that Chinese film relied on the audience to have a healthy development. As long as the movie was good they should support it. Otherwise the industry would never positively develop.

OVERHEARD 2 (SIT TING FUNG WON 2) two nights ago held a premiere. Attending actors included Lau Ching Wan, Daniel Wu (Ng Yin Cho), Michelle Ye (Yip Shuen), Huang Yi and producer Derek Yee Tung Sing. Koo Tin Lok due to his leg injury was absent but still received compliment from Huang Yi. She said that earlier when they attended an event in Guangzhou, Goo Jai showed no sign of pain on his face and indeed was a tough guy. In addition, the event also donated 290,000 that the premiere raised to UNICEF.

Ching Wan found the air conditioning at the venue to be somewhat "nipply" and unintentionally became the focus. After the ceremony, Ching Wan and Huang Yi were interviewed. Huang Yi was asked why she appeared in such a dress. She brushed her chest with her hands as she said, "I thought it was too low so I sewn it up!" Ching Wan humorously pretended to look the other way. When asked whether Ching Wan was "nipply" because of who was in front of him or the air conditioning, he laughed and said, "You are particularly mischievous!"

In addition, Ching Wan's new film LIFE WITHOUT PRINCIPLE (DUET MING GUM) will compete in the Venice Film Festival in September. Ching Wan humbly said, "I think (Johnnie) To Kei Fung is more likely to win!" He said that he planned to go on September 5. His wife Amy Kwok Oi Ming will play "Lady Tag-along". Did he prevent his wife to dress provocatively for the red carpet? Ching Wan joked, "I don't mind! (Amy said that every time she wore something you had to look it over first?) I want to see whether we would match!" Supporting her husband, Amy took the blame for Ching Wan's "nipply" situation. She said, "I chose what he wore, next time I would be more careful!" Ching Wan stated that Amy was permitted to be sexy at the Venice Film Festival, she made a funny face and said, "You won't know until you see what I will wear!"

Huang Yi praised Goo Jai's professionalism. She said, "The next day after Goo Jai's injury, he and I attended an event in Guangzhou. I saw his cane and thought it was a new product for the label." She also pointed out that Goo Jai's lack of expression during the photos that day. After removing the cane he actually could not keep his balance. "I believe at the time he was in so much pain that he probably wanted to die. He absolutely was a man."

[2011.08.16] LOUIS KOO AND DANIEL WU APPLY FOR GOLDEN HORSE BEST ACTOR NOMINATIONS

courtesy of on.cc

courtesy of takungpao.com

OVERHEARD 2 (SIT TING FUNG WON) yesterday held a premiere in Beijing. Bona film industry chief Yu Dong, Sil-Metropole chief Song Dai, the film's producer Derek Yee Tung Sing, directors Alan Mak Siu Fai and Felix Chong Man Keung attended the premiere. Actors Lau Ching Wan, Daniel Wu (Ng Yin Cho), Huang Yi, Michelle Ye (Yip Shuen) even dressed up. The only regret was that Louis Koo Tin Lok due to injury could not attend.

At the premiere, Yee Tung Sing was asked why his recent work has been selected to be released in the summer and what secret weapon he had. He said, "I feel that during the summer, young people and white collar are the audience mainstreams. The modern action target audience mainly is these groups. I don't have any secret weapon, first the film still has to be done well. The story must be able to accurate lock on to the pulse of the times and fight to touch people's hearts. Of course the suitable cast has to be chosen. Because in the previous film the three of them had decent chemistry, thus I hope they will be able to go further." Earlier OVERHEARD 2 and the Forbes Chinese magazine organized a financial world advanced screening. The response was overwhelming and the film received extremely great word of mouth from professionals. Some media and film critics called this film the year's best Chinese film. Some even described it as the 2011 film version of GREED OF MAN (DAI SI DOI).

Lau Ching Wan was the classic Hong Kong television series GREED OF MAN's Fong Chin Bok. Years ago when he starred in SHANGHAI FEVER he was popular in the Mainland. His show business life had quite a connection with the stock market. This time returning to the stock market, Lau Ching Wan said, "I am willing to do anything that has a connection with money. However Fong Chin Bok was very tragic, tragic to the extreme before his luck changed. In the film Law Man Sun was rather successful, with benefactors all along the way."

Ng Yin Cho was seen as a favorite for next year's Hong Kong Film Award Best Actor. At the same time, he and Louis Koo Tin Lok applied for the 48th Golden Horse Film Award Best Actor category. Ng Yin Cho said that everything was left up to fate. He even said that he picked Koo Tin Lok to win and that this was the entire team's honor. After learning Koo Tin Lok and Ng Yin Cho's Golden Horse Best Actor applications, Huang Yi and Yip Shuen sent their congratulations.

[2011.08.01] MICHELLE YE'S ABILITY TO CRY STUNS LOUIS KOO

courtesy of takungpao.com

Michelle Ye (Yip Shuen) is paired up with Louis Koo Tin Lok in OVERHEARD 2 (SIT TING FUNG WON 2). Because in the film Yip Shuen had to go to prison at the hands of her on screen husband Goo Jai, she had to interpret the struggles between love and pain. Yip Shuen's "ability to cry" stunned Goo Jai, who could not help but praise "the Old Lady"!

This was not Yip Shuen and Goo Jai's first collaboration, and the most important to relationship scenes were chemistry and spark. In the film Yip Shuen had many crying scenes. Her tears seemed to flow like she had a tap as she cried on cue. No wonder people on the set made fun of her as a natural crybaby. Even Goo Jai said that he was no match for her. Yip Shuen humbly said, "Anyone else in this character would be able to cry, so it's just that the directors' story is good. Of course, co-star is very important. Goo Jai is able to bring me into character." Yet this time she only worked for a few days. Although Yip Shuen said that her acting bug had its fill, she honestly said that it was not enough. She looked forward very much to working with Koo Tin Lok again. She said, "I am happy to be a part of OVERHEARD 2; but it was just a few short days of acting. If I have the chance I of course would like to work with Goo Jai."

Goo Jai said, "Although I didn't have too many scenes with Yip Shuen, those scenes required proper handling. I had to express the source of our relationship. My favorite scene was bringing Yip Shuen home. We had to talk about our feelings over the years and led up to the final break up. The scene wasn't long, and I didn't have too many lines, but we had to express our helplessness. This scene left a very deep feeling with me."

[2011.07.26] LOUIS KOO IS KING OF SUMMER BOX OFFICE

courtesy of singtao.com

courtesy of takungpao.com

OVERHEARD 2 (SIT TING FUNG WON 2) yesterday held a Beijing press conference. Directors Alan Mak Siu Fai and Felix Chong Man Keung led stars Louis Koo Tin Lok and Michelle Ye (Yip Shuen) in attendance. At the press conference, Koo Tin Lok was presented with the "King of Summer Box Office" title to honor his appearance in the Mainland summer slot for the third year in a row and making over 100 million over two years at the box office. Goo Jai even had the nickname "Summer Vacation Koo".

Koo Tin Lok was rather excited when he received his title. He joked that he could finally be "crowned". Later he said that the real "kings" should be the entire OVERHEARD 2 cast and crew. Yip Shuen and Goo Jai in the film played a couple. Yip Shuen praised this husband as
very "handsome" and a great actor. He truly deserved that title of box office king. She hoped to one day benefit from him and become "the queen of the box office".

As for which of the three lead actors' performances were the most satisfactory, the directors said, "(Danie Wu) Ng Yin Cho, Koo Tin Lok and Lau Ching Wan actually have very different acting styles. OVERHEARD 2 gave them the most room to perform so their acting bug could have its fill. I like the three of them very much, they all are veteran actors with plenty of experience. During the shoot communication was particularly smooth, so the collaboration was great."

Goo Jai has been making one movie after another in recent years, but he said that later he would be interesting in working behind the scenes and next year he will have a new direction. Would Goo Jai want to direct or produce a film? He joked, "Props!"

[2011.03.30] MICHELLE YE FAINTS AT PRESS CONFERENCE

courtesy of singtao.com

The film FOUNDING OF A PARTY yesterday held a press conference in Beijing. When introducing the characters, one of the actors Michelle Ye (Yip Shuen) suddenly fainted. Liu Ye, Huang Xin and others who were next to her immediately gave her a hand. Because Yip Shuen was wearing a dress, when she was picked up the situation was somewhat awkward. Thus the event had to be halted. The host said that the lights were very hot and with the lack of airflow, Yip Shuen probably fell ill.

Later, her manager said that Yip Shuen recently has been working on the film OVERHEARD 2 (SIT TING FUNG WON 2) and with her low blood sugar her body succumbed and she fainted. She was fine. Yip Shuen in FOUNDING OF A PARTY played Communist China early woman movement leader Li Lizhuang, a revolutionary whose role was both thrilling and suspenseful.

The film HI, FIDELITY (CHOOK GWAI DIN NUI YUN) two nights ago held a premiere at the Convention Center. The three lead actresses Carrie Ng Ka Lai, Pat Ha Man Jik and Michelle Ye (Yip Shuen) dressed up for the occasion. Other attending actors were Chapman To Man Jat and William Chan Wai Ting. Ng Ka Lai and Yip Shuen dressed provocatively. Ha Man Jik was late again as she did not appear even when the actors posed for a group photo. Even director Poon Yuen Leung was looking for her upon his arriving. The crew pointed out that actually she and Leung Lee Siu Ha went to "high tea" and was half a hour late.

Ng Ka Lai pointed out that in this performance three actresses each had their own flavor. She has not attended a premiere in a long time and she was too lazy to attend other people's premiere normally. She pointed out that this was a rare woman film. Earlier male oriented films have been the mainstream for many years. Hopefully now an adjustment could be made. If this film is successful, woman film can rise. She said, "It's not good to start off with all the killing, Hong Kong directors should make more movies. Many directors should have a close 'eye' on quality actors like us."

Yip Shuen said that in the film she arranged for Chan Wai Ting to pursue Ha Man Jik but actually had other ideas. Finally she forced Chan Wai Ting to pursue her instead. Has she run into some very crazy boyfriends? She said no, but a boyfriend's former girlfriend stated that she would keep an eye on her. She said, "She made it sound like OVERHEARD (SIT TING FUNG WON), it's pretty scary." Was it because her boyfriend and his former girlfriend did not make their relationship certain that she was misunderstood? Yip Shuen said that it was unrelated, as they were already in the past. How did her boyfriend handle it in the end? She said, "Crazy people naturally would expose their crazy side. They wouldn't act up for too long, after awhile she lost interest. The society is just." She pointed out that she did not disturb her directly but called to disturb her friend.

Starting second left: Michelle Ye (Yip Shuen), Carrie Ng Ka Lai, Pat Ha Man Jik, Poon Yuen Leung

courtesy of takungpao.com

Pat Ha Man Jik, Carrie Ng Ka Lai, Michelle Ye (Yip Shuen), and director Poon Yuen Leung appeared on Cable Entertainment News to talk about love and femininity. Several beauties even excitedly talked about the film production giving them the chance to do whatever they wanted and could not do in real life. Poon Yuen Leung wrote countless scripts over the years. This time he suddenly picked up directing, one of the reasons was running into right actors. She said, "It was very rare to be able to get Ha Man Jik and Ng Ka Lai to return to film. In addition they all radiate femininity all the time and are very suitable for the subject." After over ten years ago from film, Ha Man Jik honestly said that she made movies again completely due to fate with the director. The director also praised her for having natural talent. After years away from Hong Kong big screens, Ng Ka Lai also said that she liked to act. Only she was more low key and was somewhat afraid of Hong Kong show business.

The director praised the beautiful trio for their femininity. Did they feel they had femininity? Ha Man Jik said that femininity was natural, then adding dressing up. It also required something from within. Ng Ka Lai denied that she had femininity. She said, "Actually my mature, erotic and sexy sides all are learned from making movies. In real life I am a big klutz. Everyone completely misunderstand me." She joked that perhaps her acting was too great.

Speaking of Post 80 young people view on love, Ng Ka Lai honestly said that she longed for love before because it did not have too much materialism. Guys would put more thought on her, like personally writing a love letter or picking her up and dropping her off at work. As Post 80 Yip Shuen also said that she liked Post 70 men more. "Guys don't have to completely accommodate girls. Post 70 men feels more mature and opinionated." Yip Shuen also said that making movies could satisfy her curiosity about life. This time with HI FIDELITY (CHOOK GWAI DIK NUI YUN) she was able to do whatever she wanted! Ha Man Jik agreed, "In real life going to a duck shop would definitely lead to gossip. In the film I had no problem, I could cheat too. So I have to give my all!"

[2011.03.11] PAT HA HONESTLY WANTS AN AWARD

courtesy of mingpao.com

courtesy of takungpao.com

Participating in the 35th Hong Kong International Film Festival, HI, FIDELITY (CHOOK GWAI DIK NUI YUN) has Pat Ha Man Jik who has not performed on screen in years as one of its focus. She hoped that with this film she would be able to win a film award. Although she received the Best Dressed award a year ago when she was a Hong Kong Film Award guest performer, she said that she no loner wanted to be a guest presenter as she wanted to accept her own award next time.

In the film Ha Man Jik and Michelle Ye (Yip Shuen) had a same sex love scene. Yip Shuen would touch her chest and kiss her. After the shoot Ha Man Jik kept crying and could not settle her mood. She explained, "Because in the story Yip Shuen has always treated me very well, in the end I realized that she loved me. At that moment I was very emotional. I believed everyone would be very satisfied with that scene." As for whether she was frightened from same sex physical contact, Ha Man Jik said, "It took place very naturally. Yip Shuen instead helped me a lot. I can't give too many details as it would lose freshness." Settled in the U.S. years ago Ha Man Jik has always paid attention to the film industry. Her favorite was SEX AND THE CITY as she imagined herself to be a character in the film. When asked whether she had the courage to play the daring character Samantha Jones, she joked that she would leave it for Carrie Ng Ka Lai. With three daughters already, Ha Man Jik was asked whether her daughter would mind her love scenes. She said, "They are grown and are in college. They are very supportive of me making movies. After I explain the story, they understand that I am acting."

Yip Shuen praised Ha Man Jik's figure as great. Because it was her first same sex love scene, before the shoot she did not dare to communicate too much with her co-star in order to avoid awkwardness. Luckily the shoot went smoothly and only took one take. She said, "Touching a girl feels wonderful because I have never done it before. On the other hand I had a bed scene with (Chapman) To Man Jat. He wasn't afraid of losing out and even show his rear in front of everyone. He was very professional." Yip Shuen also said that friends asked her whether she was bisexual. She said that she was not, but she had a wonderful feeling of admiration toward Ha Man Jik. It absolutely was not any unreasonable thought, but she joked that she and Chan Wai Ting have already become romantic rivals.

Chan Wai Ting took part in HI, FIDELITY, in which he was stuck between Ha Man Jik, Ng Ka Lai and Yip Shuen. He honestly said that he was a film industry new comer, from the veterans he learned a lot. He mentioned that the screenplay originally had a rear revealing scene, but the company finally asked it to be removed. Now he only had to be half naked. Did he lack confidence in his figure? He said, "I am not ready yet. In addition the film isn't selling sex. Actually after the shoot I haven't seen the film, so I don't know how much I actually show." Chan Wai Ting praised veteran Ha Man Jik as friendly and even dressed like a modern young woman.

Ng Ka Lai said that the film subject was rare in Hong Kong. She felt that now women are already very open, many career single women are unwilling to wed but have steady boyfriend. On the streets they would rate the opposite sex. She also encouraged women to try other men if they wanted to play, as they did not necessarily have to have any sexual relationship. Ng Ka Lai said that in preparation for the film she visited Japanese men's club and thought that the male employees were very professional and would not invest emotions. Instead female clients could easily get in too deep and develop an abnormal relationship. Ng Ka Lai honestly said that she did not dare to "order a duck". In addition she also enjoyed the single life because she already passed the age of having the marriage impulse.

Pat Ha Man Jik, Michelle Ye (Yip Shuen), William Chan Wai Ting, Carrie Ng Ka Lei and Bonnie Xian (Sin Sik Lai) starred, Poon Yuen Leung directed film HI, FIDELITY (CHOOK GWAI DIK NUI YUN) and the Anthony Wong Chau Sau Sun, Janice Man Wing Shan, Richie Jen (Yam Yin Chai), Lin Li, and Maggie Cheung Ho Yi starred, Law Wing Cheong directed film PUNISHED (BO YING) will hold their world premieres on March 23 and April 4. Yesterday the casts attended the 35th Hong Kong International Film Festival press conference and shared their production experience.

Ha Man Jik on stage said that he was very happy to work on this film, during which her state of mind also matured. She admired very much the director's understanding of women's state of mind. Ng Ka Lai said that sometimes she would come up the lines with other actresses. For example the line with "gutter cleaning" came from her and several actresses. She felt that women sometimes would feel lonely too and needed to "cleaned". She worried whether the dialogue would pass inspection but it did not have any foul language. Did Ng Ka Lai have such a need? She said that she did not and later joked that she did. She pointed out that the director wrote lyrics for the movie theme song that was very fitting. Sandy Lam Yik Lin performed it. Many praised it after hearing it.

Ng Ka Lai was asked whether she thought about going off the rail in real life. She said of course she could not because people would talk if she was recognized. In addition she was a public figure and could do so even less. Ha Man Jik heard from friends that the Mainland and Taiwan also had these stores. Earlier Chan Wai Ting also observed one in Hong Kong. However she could not accept it. She joked that even if she went it would not have gigolos who were as handsome as Chan Wai Ting.

Yip Shuen dressed up for the occasions. Her chest had a red mark, which she explained as irritation from being too tired. She said that in the film she had many intimate scenes with Ha Man Jik. In one scene as soon as she finished her lines, she cried. She said that in the film she
had to hold Ha Man Jik, kiss her and coax her. It was truly quite a huge challenge. Would she turn bisexual after the shoot? She joked, "I would think of her and have loving feeling." Who had a better figure between her and Ha Man Jik? She said of course Ha Man Jik. She also said that she was under a lot of pressure while making this film, in particular getting intimate with women. Ha Man Jik after learning that her figure was praised said returned the favor. She also praised that Yip Shuen's performance touched her. Yip Shuen started at TVB, would she return home to make a series? She said that now with film work she would not talk about that. Was she avoiding rumors with new TVB owner Chan Kwok Keung? She said that it was not true and she would not respond.

Chan Wai Ting said that this time the intimate scenes felt like fight scenes, physically challenging. Was he afraid that his girlfriend Charlene Choi Cheuk Yin would be jealous? He said that his girlfriend was used to major events so she would not be. Would he accept his girlfriend's intimate scenes? He said that he would understand, actors needed to open their hearts.

Wong Chau Sun, Yam Yin Chai, Cheung Ho Yi and other yesterday attended the Hong Kong International Film Festival press conference to promote their new film PUNISHED. Wong Chau Sun in the film played a rich man. The host asked whether it was difficult. He joked that it was not. Was he very obedient of the director's orders? He said that it was not about being obedient and joked that only talented actors would be able to accomplish it. However after the event Chau Sun left without any interview.

Yam Yin Chai in the film played Chau Sun's bodyguard. He said that he and Lin Li had many street fights, but his poor Cantonese turned it into chicken fights. Yam Yin Chai said that in one scene Man Wing Shan was buried. At the time he saw many worms nearby and did not dare to tell her as he was afraid of scaring her. Afterward he did not dare to tell her either. Man Wing Shan said that in the film Chau Sun, Lin Li slapped her at least eight times. Did she want to hit them for revenge? She said that she did not dare to hit them. She said that this time she learned a lot and never thought that she would be able to successfully pass this round. She also said that she has never been slapped before so they were very memorable.

Lau Ching Wan, Louis Koo Tin Lok, Daniel Wu (Ng Yin Cho), Michelle Ye (Yip Shuen), Huang Yi, Wilfred Lau Ho Lung two nights ago attended the OVERHEARD 2 (SIT TING FUNG WON 2)'s Causeway Bay press conference. The new film had nothing to do with the previous film. Ng Yin Cho will battle Goo Jai and Ching Wan, Goo Jai will sell out his wife Yip Shuen while Huang Yi and Ching Wan will play a couple. The relationships will be rather complicated. Producer Felix Chong Man Keung joked, "This time is somewhat unusual. Mainly we want to compete with 3D SEX AND ZEN so we will have bed scenes." Actually he was referring to Ching Wan and Huang Yi. Was Ching Wan challenging his screen limit? Ching Wan said, "Neither directors know how to make that type of movie so don't worry, but it should be entertaining!"

Goo Jai appeared scruffy looking with a head of white hair. In the film he played an anti terrorism department head, but because of his leg injury Goo Jai revealed that he could not handle even a simple running scene. However he would insist against using a double. Would this scene be postponed? Goo Jai said, "This isn't the only reason. The scene also requires a chase throughout the busy city streets and explosives, so it is more complex. The shoot has to control the scene proper. However lately I haven't rested much and I haven't done physical therapy. Earlier in a car chase I almost crashed, luckily I was fine." After this film will he make less action films? Goo Jai said that the next film will already require battle scene and horse riding. Luckily it will not shoot until the summer and he will be able to rest during the break.

Speaking of Isabella Leong Lok Si's break up announcement, Goo Jai looked shocked and said that he had no idea because he was working on the film. Since she issued a statement and they were outsiders, they should comment less as it was a private matter between two people. Did he feel the children was more innocent? Goo Jai believed that they have discussed that, otherwise the court would decide. Recent rumors claimed that Goo Jai's relationship with Richard Lee Jat Kai was ambiguous and Leong Lok Si was only a surrogate mother. Goo Jai smiled and said, "It's not true, I don't need to respond!"

Yip Shuen revealed that in the film Goo Jai will sell her out and put her in prison, but after her release they made up. She honestly said that she had previous experience with a boyfriend but did not talk about it in detail. Was she someone who would make an U turn? Yip Shuen said, "Depending on the situation like how much I love him, actually before the shoot we were only at a script reading I lost control and broke down. Goo Jai cried too." Speaking of Chan Kwok Keung who she has been linked romantically to will soon take over TVB, has anyone contacted her to return home? Yip Shuen said that it was a business secret; would she resist making series? She said, "It doesn't matter, depending on the script. (If Mr. Chan personally invites you?) Don't talk about anything that is unrelated."

Pat Ha Man Jik, William Chan Wai Ting, Carrie Ng Ka Lai, Candy Yu On On, Michelle Ye (Yip Shuen) and Bonnie Xian (Sin Sik Lai) starred film CHOOK GWAI DIK NUI YUN (OFF THE RAIL WOMEN) yesterday held a production start ceremony. The actors and director Poon Yuen Leung participated in a roast pig cutting ceremony.

Ha Man Jik said that she has not made a film in a long time. In addition she was not used to sleeping late. After the first day she could only sleep with the help of medicine. She would be fine once she gradually adjusted to it. Chan Wai Ting said that he had intimate scenes with her in every scene, she joked that it was a lie. Even if they did they were only in the proximity of intimacy, which was exaggerated. The director should be asked about the level of intimacy. Would she be sexy in the film? Ha Man Jik said that Yip Shuen and Ng Ka Lai would be more amazing. She joked that she was old and at most only dared to show her back. She said, "If others saw me I would be doing a spit take. I have already lost five pounds though, maybe from all the pressure." She also praised Chan Wai Ting's performance. In one scene she fell under his spell. She said that she has not seen Chan Wai Ting's revealing scene but complimented that he was in great shape. Ha Man Jik honestly said that the production has been somewhat physically demanding but very smooth. She said that now she is in negotiation with Willie Chan Chi Keung about a new film. Due to scheduling conflict, both films would shoot simultaneously.

Chan Wai Ting said that in the film he played a gigolo. He would have intimate scenes with Ha Man Jik, Ng Ka Lai and Yip Shuen. He honestly said that he would have a kiss scene with Ha Man Jik. Would he have touching scenes? He said yes but he did not have any pressure. He said, "Ha Man Jik and I actually have the same birthday, I feel very intimate." Did he already have experience from working with Vivian Chow Wai Man earlier? He honestly said that he had more experience and knew how to communicate. Chan Wai Ting said that earlier he worked on a daring scene in which his manager Yu On On tested his conditions at a night club. He said, "I had to masturbate in front of her and the camera, I felt a little scared." Would he show his rear? He said that the director has been great, permitting him to put on underwear then folding it to hide it. It felt like wearing a thong. He joked that his rear would be on display this way too. Did he get himself into shape first? He said that his legs have always been thin so his rear looked big in comparison. Chan Wai Ting pointed out that Yu On On asked why he did not remove his underwear for the scene and suggested for him to learn an actor's professional ethics. He honestly said that for now he could not accept it and needed further adjustment.

Ng Ka Lai said that she had intimate scenes with Chan Wai Ting but would not feel embarrassed. Because she has made many love scenes before, this was a piece of cake. Did she see Chan Wai Ting's revealing scene? She said that she has not had the pleasure so far. She said that she and Ha Man Jik back then worked together on LIFE IS A MOMENT (CHIU FA JIK HUP). Although they only had a few scenes together, when they ran into each other again they still remembered working together. They also praised each other for looking great at their age.

Lee Chun Fai expressed that he has negotiated with film companies about this film since 2006. When they learned about the film production this year, they requested the Bruce Lee story to be factual from the start. Otherwise they would be yelled at on the streets for not being truthful. He felt that this time the script was very detailed, the Lee family also provided many suggestions. Lee Chau Yuen expressed that she has always had the dream of making a Bruce Lee memorial movie. Now it finally has been completed. The film was mainly about Bruce Lee's background, growth process and personality.

Leung Ka Fai in the film played Bruce Lee's father Lee Hoi Chuen, while Chung Lai Tai played Bruce Lee's mother Ho Oi Yu. Lee Chi Ting played Bruce Lee. Lee Chi Ting on stage expressed that at first when he was approached he was very surprised. Because Bruce Lee was a world renowned star, at first he had some pressure. She also said that she thought Leung Ka Fai resembled her father a lot after working with him.

Chung Lai Tai expressed that she has not made a movie in six years. This time she was at ease. Because she has worked with Leung Ka Fai before, they had a lot of chemistry. She also brought her child to keep her company at work. Did the former sex symbol mind the promotion to a mother role? She said that she did not mind.

The Johnnie To Kei Fung directed Chinese French co-production VENGEANCE qualified for the Cannes Film Festival competition. Although Cannes has not announced its prizes, To Kei Fung was made an officer of the French Order of Arts and Letters. The honor surprised him but also pleased him a lot. His film journey and achievement were still quite far from his idol Akira Kurosawa. He still had a long way to go. He still needed to keep learning. No matter what his heart still belonged to Hong Kong. He would firmly hold down the fort and make even more good movies to share with everyone.

At the same time, VENGEANCE's Cannes premiere took place. Not only the nine jury members attended, Ang Lee, Quentin Tarantino, Tony Leung Chiu Wai, Michelle Yeoh (Yeung Chi King) and other stars came in support. Ang Lee even expressed that the movie that he wanted to watch the most at this festival was VENGEANCE. To Kei Fung's popularity at Cannes was very high, as many European reporters showed their admiration for him.

In recent years To Kei Fung's popularity in Europe has climbed higher and higher. Not only did he frequent the three major film festivals but also served on the Venice film festival jury. The French was particularly fond of him. Almost all To Kei Fung movies were able to be released in France. Young people and film critics alike supported his film and felt that he not only was able to make the mob genre into art but also was able to maintain the Hong Kong specialty. This time VENGEANCE again qualified for Cannes competition. The nine jury members attended the premiere together. Ang Lee after his own film premiere alsocame in support and told reporters that he looked forward the most to VENGEANCE. To Kei Fung in the past almost always used the same cast. This time the lead actor was France's Johnnie Hallyday. However after the firs screening on the morning of the 17th, many reporters felt that despite adding French star and French financing, the film did not lose To Kei Fung's pure Hong Kong film style. On the other hand a few reporters felt that the pace of the second half of the film was very similar to Hong Kong mob films of the 70s and 80s.

Reporters from all over Europe at the first screening all basically gave very high marks and praised To Kei Fung as an excellent filmmaker with his own style. Many reporters expressed that they liked To Kei Fung's films. Some viewers said that although they did not understand the film's second half they still felt it was great. Some reporters also felt that this was not To Kei Fung's best work.

Meanwhile, To Sir at the VENGEANCE press conference expressed thathis first English film, due to his less than adequate English abilities, was a huge challenge for him. However, he added, "As everyone's coordination improved, we were able to smoothly complete the job. To me it is a valuable experience." As for the film's lead actor, To Sir frankly said that initially he wanted to invite Alain Delon but he was not interested. Finally he and Johnny Hallyday clicked right away, but he joked that he did not know Johnny at all before hand. French rock star Johnny Hallyday also honestly said that in the entire production only To Sir was able to speak a little English, but he was very glad to be able to work with Hong Kong actors. He also praised lead actress Michelle Ye (Yip Shuen), who he could not help but fall for.

To Sir was obviously very excited about being able to work with the international team. "I was able to accept some challenges and do something that I was unfamiliar with. I also hope through this production to bring new opportunities for contact between Hong Kong and international film and bring new spark to the Hong Kong industry."

Also, a Mainland site yesterday claimed that Tony Leung Chiu Wai's comment of Hong Kong film industry had generation gap and was under continuous threat, which upset Ah To. "How can he say that? Hong Kong film won't die, he isn't a director......" Ah To yesterday denied the rumor and blamed the reporter for misinterpreting his original intent. "He only wanted to say that only with good screenplays and good directors would a successful actor be cultivated. Then the generation gap situation wouldn't occur." As for his comment becoming Ah To's over the net war of words, Wai Jai expressed, "Everyone's goal is for Hong Kong film to be great. As long as this goal is achieved, I don't mind what is said about me."

Wai Jai yesterday already returned to Hong Kong. He expressed that this year he had no film in competition so he was more relaxed. He said that he would not be a part of the jury. "I am very random when I watch movies, when I am in the mood I watch them. Being a jury member would be very tough." He also said that he has been practicing Wing Chun for months. Everyday he repeatedly perform the same sets of movements, which frustrated him somewhat after awhile.
