DVD Releases: February 9, 2010

We have a lot of amazing releases on DVD this week, from almost every genre. First up is one of the best films of 2009: Bronson from Nicolas Winding Refn (The Pusher Trilogy, Valhalla Rising) which showcasing an absolutely formidable performance from Tom Hardy as the infamously violent prisoner Bronson which in my opinion was Oscar worthly (sidenote: I've included both the BluRay and DVD as amazon.ca DVD link didn't have the specifics of the product).

Continuing with favourites, All Together Now was one of my favourite films from 2008 and that is the documentary of the creation of the Cirque du Soleil production based on the music of The Beatles entitled "LOVE" and it's a fantastic film for lovers of any of the arts. Keeping the wonder vein we have the sci-fi/romance The Time Traveller's Wife based on the well loved Audrey Niffenegger novel with the film version starring Rachel McAdams and Eric Bana. I'm still surprized I didn't catch that in the theatre. Next up, for the Academy Awards completists we have the Coen Brothers' latest A Serious Man which is up for Motion Picture and Original Screenplay. Also hitting the shelves this week is the romance I Can't Think Straight, thriller remake The Stepfather and documentary We Live In Public.

A few familiar faces are cropping up on new to DVD this week including Steven Seagal in A Dangerous Man, Jean-Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren in Universal Soldier: Regeneration and Emmy Rossum in Dare.

TV to DVD this week includes SG-U: Stargate Universe, Season 1.0 which is the first part of the season as the show won't have new episodes airing until April 2010.

Heading to Blu-Ray is one of my all time favourite Arnie movies: The Running Man. I've watched it more times than I'd like to admit.

In a midweek release we also have Couples Retreat which came out on DVD on Friday Feb 5, 2010.
