In the summer rain, the 2011 Shanghai International Film Festival opened in Shanghai. Over 300 national and overseas film celebrities and new industry new comers, like entertainment media tycoon Rupert Murdoch and his wife, Oscar winning Actress Susan Sarandon, Hollywood star Matt Dillion, Korean star Gianna Jun Ji-Hyun, Japanese star Satoshi Tsumabuki, Barbie Hsu (Tsui Hei Woon) and her husband Wang Xiaofei, and director John Woo (Ng Yu Sum), walked the red carpet in the rain for this film festival.

Despite the rain, many film professionals appeared with umbrellas. Hong Kong director Jacob Cheung Chi Leung led REST ON YOUR SHOULDER actors Chen Kun, Gigi Leung Wing Kei, Kwai Lun-Mei on their red carpet appearance without umbrellas. Perhaps touched by the team, many fans applauded and cheered as they often screamed their idols' names. Similar scenes appeared again when the LOVE IN SPACE (CHUEN KAU YIT LUEN) team walked the red carpet. The first to appear of that team was Jing Boran and Angelababy.

Although big stars gathered, in comparison with overseas film professionals Chinese artists stole the show. Among the numerous "couple on the read carpet" artists, most of the media attention went to Big S and Wang Xiaofei and Kitty Zhang Yuqi and Wang Quanan. Betty Sun Li and Deng Chao who just held their wedding banquet in Shanghai made their first public appearance after marriage at this year's film festival.

Among the numerous female stars when Lin Chiling appeared on the red carpet, Chen Kun who just passed by cooperatively accompanied her again. They even shared an embrace in public. Actually, Chen Kun came to Shanghai with his film with Lin Chiling, LOVE ON CREDIT. Lin Chiling said that Chen Kun was a mix between a man and a boy. During the shoot Chen Kun had quite an influence, which was worth her learning from. Chen Kun said that although it was his first film with Lin Chiling he still stated, "Lin Chiling's performance was very real, which made you experienced the love in the film."
