Some new arrivals didn't get anyone excited.
NBC: This year's CELEBRITY APPRENTICE freak-show made its entrance onto the scene, down 0.2 from last year's premiere despite the boosted lead-in of a Voice repeat. Still, that was enough to win both of its hours.
CBS: The network's schedule was somewhat disrupted by a golf overrun (which isn't to be confused with the bonanza of a football overrun), but it appears that THE AMAZING RACE was up a very slight 0.1 from last year's premiere. The new lead-in had little effect on THE GOOD WIFE, which was around where it's been in recent weeks (football playoff-boosted numbers excluded), and CSI MIAMI was up slightly.
ABC: The absence of the Grammys helped DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES a bit, but its 2.2 was still a number that wouldn't have been imagined for the series before this season. And let's bid a bon voyage to PAN AM and its 1.2 rating--ABC hasn't officially issued a cancellation so as to preserve its contractual options, but the show has almost certainly taken its final flight.
FOX: Also benefitting from the more typical competition this week, as all its animated shows were up. The only really notable increase, though, was for the much-hyped 500th episode of THE SIMPSONS, a remarkable achievement that was up 0.6 to a still-unremarkable 2.6.
Tonight is yet another critical Monday for NBC, which is praying SMASH stabilizes at last week's still-good number. The sweeps competition will remain first-run on all the other networks.
