Every once in a while we are treated to a relationship film from a guys point of view. This is certainly the case with the Butler Brothers latest film Confusions of an Unmarried Couple. It's a no hold barred look at the aftermath of the break up between Dan and Lisa including all the insults, accusations and of course, a lot of beer. We follow Dan as he does not attempt to recover from the relationship but maintains distant, anonymous contact with Lisa.
Where the film hits home is how real the characters are in the situation, how they say things that are truly harsh to one another and how they are focus relentlessly on particular issues just like people do when they are in break up argument mode. But through the crass language and yelling, we see the two recollect the fonder moments as well as the things that are important in a relationship as a whole. But, do Dan and Lisa have what it takes to put it all together? Or does he really just want his toothbrush back?
Confusions of an Unmarried Couple will be screening Saturday June 21/08 at the ReelHeART Festival as the Official Closing Venue Film. Check here for more information on the screening.
For more information check out the films MySpace page, and the Butler Brothers website.
Warnings: Repetitive crass language
Shannon's Overall View:
I was surprized by it
I'd not watch it again
I'd recommend it as a cathartic comedy for men
