Hello Film Fans and Fanatics!
Welcome to Film Fan Fridays for Friday June 6, 2008! This weekend is likely to be a warm and rainy here in Toronto, what better time to spend it at the movies? We have seven releases this week so it's likely that there will be something for everyone!
In limited release this week we start with history inspired releases and it's exciting to see the epic Oscar nominated Mongol released and we also have historical drama The Children of Huang Shi. Keeping with the international theme is political drama My Brother is an Only Child. Closer to home is the road movie The Go-Getter and then right in our back door is the Canadian Finn's Girl. The Friday June 6/08 7pm show of Finn's Girl at the Carlton in Toronto will have Q&A with directors Dominique Cardona and Laurie Colbert (see here for more information, thanks Marina at RowThree for the tip!)
In wide release this week we have two releases, Kung Fu Panda (also being released in IMAX) which has already received surprizingly positive reactions all around. Last film of the week is You Don't Mess with the Zohan, the latest Adam Sandler comedy.
After a week of being festival free, we are back to having many festival to choose from. One starting today and then a few mid-week starters next wee. Be sure to check out daily coverage of the Worldwide Short Film Festival here at Movie Moxie from June 10-15, 2008 during the festival.
Have a great weekend!
