Film Fan Fridays for Friday February 12, 2010

Hello Film Fans and Fanatics!

Welcome to Film Fan Fridays for Friday February 12, 2010! Ah, the Friday before Valentine's proves for similar release every year it seems, the two types of date movies: romance and horror. No documentaries on depressing topic and no indie's in sight. Less options provide easier choice perhaps? We'll see.

In limited release this week we have just two release and only one is opening on Friday which is the Bollywood film My Name is Khan starring Shah Rukh Khan. We also have this year's first midweek release with Celine: Through the Eyes of the World opening on Wednesday February 17, 2010 and it's a documentary of Celine Dion's Taking Chances world tour.

In wide release this week we have the two mainstays of romance and horror as noted with aptly titled Valentine's Day which stars pretty much everyone pretty people of Hollywood. In the horror realm we have the already twice delayed release of The Wolfman starring Benicio Del Toro in the title role, as well as Anthony Hopkins, Emily Blunt and Hugo Weaving. Have to say, I'm excited for The Wolfman but the delays and zero advance reviews has be a little leery. Last up for wide releases is Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief a fantasy / adventure film based on the Rick Riordan young adult novel based in Greek mythology with a modern twist, also with an impressive cast including Logan Lerman (3:10 to Yuma (2007), Gamer) stars as Percy Jackson, along with Uma Thurman, Pierce Brosnan, Catherine Keener and Sean Bean. Truly something for everyone this week!

Have a great weekend & a Happy Valentine's Day!

Shannon
