Well now we are talking, this week has a slew of awesome films coming out on DVD this Tuesday May 4, 2010 so let's get right to it and dive in!
First up is the artist work of wonder that is Terry Gilliam's The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus starring Christopher Plummer, Heath Ledger, Andrew Garfield, Lily Cole, Jude Law, Colin Farrell and Johnny Depp. Keeping it on the artistic level we have Nine, a musical hommage-style to the Fellini film 8 1/2. Next up is one that sadly didn't hit the theatres but is sure to have lots of parkour action and that is District 13 Ultimatum. If you missed out on the original film you can catch up now with a 2-in-1 District B13 / Banlieue B13 & District 13 Ultimatum combination in release. This week also sees the DVD release of Tokyo Sonata / Tôkyô sonata, a unique & touching Japanese family drama from director Kiyoshi Kurosawa (Seance, Pulse).
Also in release this week is the South African drama/romance The World Unseen and Tetro directed by Francis Ford Coppola.
From the big screen to the small in a few connections we have Fallen, a 2006 TV movie with Paul Wesley (Stefan on "The Vampire Diaries") that centres on a fallen angel. I'm not surprized it's hitting DVD as angels seem to be everywhere nowadays, especially fallen ones.
2010 titles are now starting to hit the shelves including family comedy Tooth Fairy starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and romantic comedy Leap Year starring Amy Adams, Matthew Goode and Adam Scott.
