DVD Releases for May 17, 2011

Tuesday time! which means it's time to take a look at today's release. Here is a selection of DVD Releases for May 17, 2011:

  • Daydream Nation (DVD Review) Awesome Canadian dark comedy set in a small town where the new girl in town decides to cause trouble and create her own love triangle. Stars Kat Dennings, Josh Lucas & Reece Thomspon and is the directorial debut from Michael Goldbach who wrote Childstar.
  • Down Terrace freaking brilliant must-see UK crime drama
  • The Mechanic (DVD Review) this hard edge action flick is a remake of 70's flick of the same name with Charles Bronson, this version stars Jason Statham and Ben Foster as mentor/mentoree assassins.
  • Vanishing on 7th Street (DVD Review) Horror/thriller set Detroit and where almost everyone has disappeared during a blackout. Stars Hayden Christensen and directed by Brad Anderson (The Machinist, Transsiberian).
  • The Roommate (podcast review) When the trailers for this on came out I was surprized at how much it looked like Single White Female... and turns out this thriller starring Minka Kelly, Leighton Meester and Cam Gigandet actually *is* a remake. Who knew? Now *you* do.
  • Modra I'm aching to see this coming of age film set in Slovakia from director Ingrid Veninger (Only), starring Hallie Switzer & Alexander Gammal.
  • The Way Back (DVD/Blu-Ray Combo) based on the book The Long Walk: The True Story of a Trek to Freedom by Slavomir Rawicz and inspired by true events, this film stars Jim Sturgess, Ed Harris, Colin Farrell, Saoirse Ronan & Mark Strong.
  • Flashpoint: Third Season Canadian crime-action TV series starring Enrico Colantoni, Hugh Dillon, Amy Jo Johnson and David Paetkau and following a Strategic Response Unit. How is this already in Season 3? Where does the time go!
  • Flashpoint: Three Season Pack Need to catch up on *all* of Flashpoint? You can with this 3-in-1 Season Pack.
  • The Bionic Woman: Season Two I'd love to check out this on DVD as I only have the vaguest of vague memories of this action-woman series from the 1970's starring Lindsay Wagner.
  • The Rite (podcast review) previously listed as a May 3, 2011 release but this exorcist biopic drama starring Colin O'Donoghue and Anthony Hopkins actually comes out today!
