It's lucky that BOSS is a bid for prestige by Starz, because it's certainly not doing much on the ratings front. The initial airing on Friday had a total of 659,000 viewers, which wouldn't even be much of a number if it referred only to 18-49 year olds--and in this case, given the show's theme (politics) and star (56-year old Kelsey Grammer), it's likely that the audience skewed on the older side.
Starz was able to get the total audience number over 1 million by including a later Friday re-airing, and to 1.72M by counting all 6 weekend broadcasts--but even by Starz's none-too-large standards, these aren't promising results. The show, which has already received a Season 2 pick-up (not that those are written in stone), isn't going anywhere; Starz will have to hope that the TV Academy, at least, is paying attention.
