The Sked: TUESDAY RATINGS October 25

Airing on a special night, The X Factor returned with a vengeance, averaging a 4.3 Adult 18-49 rating in the fast nationals.  Look for that to rise to a 4.4 or 4.5 in the official ratings later today.  With a number like that, FOX must be itching to get its regular schedule back on and pick up where they left off before the baseball disruptions.

CBS had a good night with the NCIS franchises.  NCIS bounced back to a 4.0 (with guest star Cheryl Ladd), up from a season low 3.9 last week and possibly rounding up to a 4.1 in the official nationals.  NCIS: LA also rebounded from last week, up three tenths of a rating point to a 3.7 rating.  Unforgettable, the beneficiary of recent on-air promotion and a full season order, is holding the line at a 2.5 rating -- enough to win a week time period.

ABC's once promising Tuesday is eroding (a 2.9 for the night two weeks ago, a 2.4 last week, and a 2.3 last night).  Last Man Standing has not found bottom yet (3.6 premiere...3.1 week two...2.8 last night), and Man Up! has fallen below a 2 rating (2.4 premiere...1.9 last night).  Only a 2.5 rating saw Chaz Bono shuffle off into the sunset on Dancing with the Stars Results (a season low).  In the slightly good news department, Body of Proof has found its bottom at a 1.9 rating.

NBC's The Biggest Loser continues to struggle.  The 1.9 rating last night tied a season and franchise low.  The audience is not embracing the two new trainers who replaced Jillian Michaels.  Prime Suspect week continued at 10 pm, with a 1.0 rating for a repeat episode (up from a 0.7 Monday night but still at a tough level).

In late night, Jay Leno won his time period despite the almost non-existent lead-in.  President Obama was the guest, helping Leno win the 11:30 half hour with a 10 Household share in the 56 overnight markets (18-49 fast national ratings are not available for late night).  For comparison, NBC primetime averaged a 5 HH share last night -- that's a lot of heavy lifting.  On ABC, Nightline averaged a 9 HH share (it usually wins the half hour now), down from ABC's 12 HH share in prime.  On CBS, Late Show with David Letterman trailed with a 7 HH share, down substantially from the 15 HH share CBS delivered in prime.  Guest Eddie Murphy could not stand up to the President.

The CW was in repeats last night -- two Ringer episodes barely registered at a 0.4 and 0.3 rating.
