28th Genie Award Nominations

Quite a stellar year for Canadian film! The majority of the nominations this year are for English films, and the front runners are Eastern Promises and Shake Hands with the Devil with 12 nominations each. There is a fair amount of crossover to Canada's Top Ten list (4 of the 10 are nominated) and a number of the categories have fierce competition. For example, check out the nominations for Best Director: Denys Arcand, Sarah Polly, David Cronenberg, Roger Spottiswoode and Bruce McDonald. Also, both lead acting categories are also jam packed with outstanding performance. The men: Roy Dupuis, Marc LaBrèche, Claude Legault, Viggo Mortensen and Gordon Pinsent. The women: Anne-Marie Cadieux, Julie Christie, Ellen Page, Molly Parker and Béatrice Picard. We can't leave out the zombie love, good thing Fido is here to represent!

The Genies will be held on March 3rd, 2008.
