Film Fan Fridays for Friday January 11, 2008!

Hello Film Fans and Fanatics!

Welcome to Film Fan Fridays for Friday January 11, 2008! Normally at this stage of the year I'd be getting all set to watch the Golden Globes with all the pretty dresses and colourful speeches, but that will not be what we see this upcoming Sunday. The live telecast awards show has been cancelled and will be replaced by a 1 hour press conference and corresponding 'Announcement' show, which will play Sunday January 13th, 2008 from 9-10pm EST. See more info here at the Golden Globes site.

Our limited releases this week include the Canadian release Imitation, which looks like a captivating film and will go on my list. Our second limited release is the long awaited Persepolis, the hand drawn animated French film based on a comic book that won people over at festival after festival last year and is also up for Best Foreign Language Film at the Golden Globes.

Our wide releases this week include the latest from director Uwe Boll In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale, which I had a chance to see at the Toronto After Dark Film Festival and I had a lot of fun watching it and am curious as to how it will be received by audiences here. We also have the crime-comedy (new genre!) First Sunday and family friendly The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything: A VeggieTales Movie, which is my favourite film title of the year so far.

Sneak preview!

This Sunday January 13, 2008 at 2pm there will be a sneak preview of the new Anne Fletcher (Step Up) romantic comedy 27 Dresses starring Katherine Heigl and James Marsden. Locations of the sneak preview in Toronto include: SilverCity Yonge & Eglinton, SilverCity Yorkdale, SilverCity Burlington and others.

Have a great week!

Shannon
