The Zhou Xun, Li Bingbing, Zhang Hanyu, Huang Xiaoming starred THE MESSAGE required the leads to be trapped within a 10 million elegant castle construction. A few days already felt like years to them.

Zhou Xun pointed out that the happiest part of the entire shoot was the bar scene with Li Bingbing before they were thrown into the castle. She who never smoked or drank did both for the film. Under the influence of alcohol she went wild and danced with the jazz music. Zhou Xun said that dancing with foreigners was particularly enjoyable as the actor even led her into several aerial dance moves. Because Zhou Xun rarely danced and due to time restraint she only practiced for two hours and studied the secrets of swing. She expressed before the practice she was somewhat afraid of falling. During rehearsal she also twisted her arm but it was minor. She said, "After rehearsing for awhile, I developed a chemistry with my dance partner and felt very at ease. After succeeding I thought it wasn't as hard as I imagined, I was even addicted to swing in the air."

To show their sorrow, many scenes shot them smoking for stress relief. Zhou Xun and Li Bingbing did not smoke. For them to smoke nonstop was absolutely a tragedy during the shoot.
