Avatar x 4 in Week 4: Canadian, North American, UK & Australian Box Office January 8, 2010 Weekend

Avatar still going strong topping the Canadian, North American, UK and Australian charts in it's fourth week in release. Daybreakers opens the strongest of this weeks releases placing #3 in the UK and #4 in Canada & North America but isn't on the Australian charts as it will open in Australia on Thursday January 21, 2010. Wow. Is Thursday the regular release date for films in Australia? Learn something new every day! Other new release placement include Leap Year and Youth in Revolt which opened and landed in the top ten in Canada and North American. It's Complicated opened in Australia at #2 and in the UK at #5, and The Road opened in the UK and landed in #6 spot.

I wonder what will be the first 2010 release to dethrone Avatar as number 1. Looking at the upcoming releases the next possible would likely be Book of Eli but I think we'll be waiting longer than that. It's actually refreshing to see a film that brings back box office longevity - and I've not even *seen* Avatar yet!
