We said ABC would be wearing a smiley face after last night's fine numbers, and the network wasted no time in acting on the good news. REVENGE and SUBURGATORY have received full-season back orders, and HAPPY ENDINGS (which was a midseason show last year, so didn't have a full order this season) has a 6-script order with an eye toward keeping it in continuous production. No one can argue with any of this; even if FOX has been narrowly winning Wednesdays with X Factor (when it's not burdened with baseball), the ABC line-up is very solid, and although Revenge is still something of a question mark, the night is likely to remain so.
Of course, that doesn't solve the network's crumbling Sunday (they have to hope ONCE UPON A TIME isn't caught in the wreckage of Desperate Housewives), nor the fear that DANCING WITH THE STARS may not recover from its current badly-rated cycle, not to mention the fact that at some point (very possibly tomorrow) it'll be time to cancel CHARLIE'S ANGELS. But it's a start.
