[2011.04.01] VONNIE LUI HAS DEPRESSION FROM MAKING CATEGORY III FILM

courtesy of mingpao.com

The Vonnie Lui Hoi Yan and Hiro Hayama (Yip San Ho) starred 3D SEX AND ZEN: EXTREME ECSTASY (3D YUK PO TUEN ji GIK LOK BO GAM) will soon be released. Lui Hoi Yan for the film went on a diet to lose weight, stopped going out at night and drinking, but she did not lose a single pound in a week. She said, "Maybe I was nervous, the more I wanted to lose weight the more I couldn't. The more I couldn't the more I didn't dare to eat. On the second day of the production, I didn't eat after being on the set for 24 hours. When I heard others eat I wanted to vomit." Yip Ho San said, "I was very worried about her. She not only didn't eat but also didn't make a sound. She hid in the bathroom and cried." Lui Hoi Yan said that later she went to the doctor, who said that she had minor depression. Luckily she caught it in time.

Did they fall in love after such a long time together? Lui Hoi Yan said no, but they became the best of friends and talked about everything and anything. Yip San Ho also praised that Lui Hoi Yan as attentive, a good cook who often cooked for them, like drunken chicken, Korean rice cake, and cake. He said, "She absolutely is suitable for marriage, she definitely will be a good wife." As for why he did not pursue her, Yip San Ho joked that because her chest was too big. Actually he is already married, his wife is Japanese and lives in Japan.

Did his wife object to him making category III film? Yip San Ho said, "I made this movie because of what my wife said. Without her support I wouldn't be able to let it go." What did his wife say to him? he said, "Since you have never been naked before you should get naked." He not only let go with his body but also his personality. He used to be shy and was poor at communication with others. After making this film and meeting the happy Lui Hoi Yan, he became more talkative and humorous.

In memory of Japan earthquake, "Love without border 311 candle light evening" will take place tonight in the Victoria Park. Hosts Eric Tsang Chi Wai, Carol Cheng Yui Ling, Sylvia Chang (Cheung Ngai Ga) and Alice Chan Mei Ling yesterday rehearsed. Chan's Japanese husband also came to support his wife.

Chi Wai said that the event will take at 7:05PM and last 3 hours. The venue has memorial areas where people can place cards. At the same time the event also set up 150 donation pledge lines, 10 of which would be in Japanese for the Japanese people who reside in Hong Kont to donate. The numbers would be 1833288 (Cantonese) and 1833123 (Japanese).

Do Do suggested for attendees to bring their own blankets, water and such because the venue would not set up seating. Chi Wai also urged attendees to bring bags to clean up after themselves with and keep the venue tidy. Confirmed artists included Joey Yung Cho Yi, Charlene Choi Cheuk Yin, Miriam Yeung Chin Wa, Andy Lau Tak Wa, George Lam Chi Cheung, Alan Tam Wing Lun and Wynners, Korea's Kwon Sang-Woo also agreed to attend. Taiwan artists would include Sky Wu (Ng Si Hoi) and Jon Lee Chung Sing. Tony Leung Chiu Wai, Kelly Chen Wai Lam, Ken Watanabe, Masahiko Kondo, and Nina Ricci also prepared video call for pledges.

According to Jackie Chan, Chi Wai and Andrew Lau Wai Keung argued over the theme song recording. Chi Wai said, "It was nothing special, everyone had an opinion before and after the arrangement. Everyone just wanted to do what was good for the event." Was artist assignment
difficult? He said, "The most important was everyone was comfortable, if they could come they could participate. We couldn't hold anyone up. The Hong Kong artists were great, they didn't mind what they sang." Chen Wai Lam who just suffered a miscarriage supported the event with a video recording. Chi Wai said, "Kelly was always willing to do the video, always wanting to participate. She wouldn't come because she didn't want the goal to change, she wanted everyone to think of the victims." The theme song SUCCUMB NOT TO PAIN was accused of copying a Korean song. Chi Wai said it was impossible. "The song was based on a poem, it was very hard to find a song that matched the poem. Tang Chi Wai didn't sleep or rest and worked for a day and a half without sleep. Such accusation was very unfair to him."

Chan Mei Ling was very concerned with the nuclear crisis after the Japan earthquake. She said, "It's very serious, so far nothing has improved. If all goes well it will take several months to repair. It may take several years." She worried the most about the Japanese people who lived near the nuclear power plant. "I don't know what to do, not only did they have earthquake and tsunami, the situation was very severe." Would Chi Wai send any artists to shoot videos at the disaster area? He said, "I don't plan to just yet. I have to keep artist and safety issues in mind. Now it's inconvenient to go." Chan Mei Ling agreed, "Now the disaster area remained very intense. If too many people went they would cause traffic problems. The disaster area's food and water remained lacking."

At the event show business would have no differences and no borders to cheer for the Japanese people and at the same time urged the people of Hong Kong to donate and help the Japanese disaster victims. All the donations after expenses will be donated to the international charity group Salvation Army.

Many electronic media including TVB, ATV, and now Hong Kong will broadcast the event live. TVB even arranged for broadcast over four channels. However ATV will only broadcast it on its High Definition channel while the Hong Kong station will continue its usual schedule. According to ATV, they did so only because the pictures would be clearer and keeping different types of viewers in mind.

In addition, TVB's SCOOP and special program THE JADE AND THE PEARL was fined over HK$160,000 for indirectly promoting the film THE JADE AND THE PEARL. The 72 TENANTS OF PROSPERITY (72 GA JO HAT) promotional program was also fined as well. TVB expressed deep regret over the two fines. TVB's Tsang Sing Ming said although the Broadcast Authority had procedure for TVB to complain to the Chief Executive and the Legislative Council about the verdict, the procedure was complex and required a lot of resources. Thus it could only helplessly accept the verdict, but it asked the Broadcast Authority to strength communication to keep similar situations from appearing again.

[2011.04.01] JACKIE CHAN RAISES FUND FIRST

courtesy of on.cc

courtesy of singtao.com

courtesy of takungpao.com

Hong Kong's fund raiser for Japan earthquake disaster victims, LOVE BEYOND BORDER, will take place tonight at Victoria Park. Jackie Chan yesterday appeared on a Commercial Radio interview. Jackie Chan said that earlier he wanted to prepare a joint performance of China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea and Japan, but later Japan and Myanmar both had problems. Coincidentally Chi Wai contacted him so everyone created this fund raiser. Jackie Chan pointed out, this event actually would help other Asian nations that required assistance. He also planned an annual all Asian fund raiser instead of waiting for every disaster.

Jackie Chan said that tonight the event will have 150 donation lines, some were set up for the Japanese people with both Japanese and English services. He was responsible for contact foreign artists. Originally Kenny G. wanted to perform, but due to too many artists he instead would send a video. He also revealed that Eric Tsang Chi Wai and Andrew Lau Wai Keung argued over singer arrangement but soon were fine. How much did he donated to this event? He said, "Whatever. I stop working, the loss from which is even more. I almost stopped for two weeks."

Speaking of reports of his kiss with Xu Jinglei, he said, "Do you think I did?" He pointed out that many people like Zhang Jingchu and Zhao Benshan were present that day. Xu Jinglei wanted to approach Jaycee Chan (Fong Cho Ming) about a movie, but Cho Ming had to work on Derek Yee Tung Sing's new film. When she left, he walked her to her car. The report then wrote that he kissed her like mad. He said, "I laughed as soon as I finished reading it. Yesterday I saw Zhang Ziyi and she joked that she wanted a 'Xu Jinglei kiss'. I am used to it." Earlier Alan Tang Kwong Wing passed away but his death was mistakenly reported instead. Jackie Chan said that he received several thousand calls. When Willie Chan Chi Keung called him he even cried and was very worried. His American manager also called him. He said, "It has been rumored many times before, I am used to this. I wouldn't clarify it right away, why do I have to clarify anything."

Also Pak Shuet Sin two days ago visited Tang Kwong Wing's family to console Mrs. Tang and her daughters. Yesterday Sister Sin again visited the Tang family but remained silent.

courtesy of mingpao.com

courtesy of takungpao.com

Michelle Yeoh (Yeung Chi King) yesterday attended a shoe event. Speaking of her good friend Isabella Leong Lok Si's break up with Richard Li Jat Kai, she thought that her happiness was the most important. She also revealed that earlier she had a chance to meet with Myanmar democracy movement leader Aung San Suu Kyi.

Yeung Chi King just returned from Thailand to Hong Kong. She stayed in Thailand for three months mainly for the Luc Besson directed film THE LADY. In it she played Aung San Suu Kyi. The film will also shoot in Oxford, England and Paris, France and will be released in October.

Yeung Chi King pointed out that when the production neared its end, she finally had the chance to meet Aung San Suu Kyi. She was very interested in meeting her and felt like she was her aunt. She knew that many people who wanted to meet her were turned down, so she was particularly excited. On the day of the meeting, she talked about her days without freedom. She pointed out that she was a honest and direct person and sensed that she missed her son very much.

What did she feel she had in common with Aung San Suu Kyi? Yeung Chi King pointed out that aside from looks, they also had the same height. She pointed out that she was very polite and smart with her words. She was not weak, she was very tough and very talented. She also said that she has seen her films and her son was her fan.

In addition, Leong Lok Si earlier announced her break up with Li Jat Kai. Isabella was rumored to be making a film comeback. Yeung Chi King said that she did not want a break up for any of her friends. She pointed out that Isabella is such a big girl she should know what she was doing. Most importantly she was happy and knew how to take care of herself. She definitely would wish her well. Would she agree with her comeback? She said that this was a personal affair and she would leave it up to her to talk about.

[2011.04.01] KITTY ZHANG DANCES BAREFOOT IN ZERO DEGREE TEMPERATURE

courtesy of takungpao.com

Japanese star Masanobu Ando and Kitty Zhang Yuqi starred THE BUTCHER, THE CHEF AND THE SWORDSMAN will open next week. In the film, Zhang Yuqi played a sexy and talented courtesan who due to her background even was mysteriously reserved and had a heroic side. In order to play the character well, she even started her dance and flute training lessons early. In an extremely difficult performance, he had to wear a red dress and robe in less than zero degree Celsius temperature to dance down the stairs barefoot to the table. The director and she were both satisfied. Zhang Yuqi said that the reason that truly attracted her to this film performance was the chance for the character to display her talent.

As for Masanobu Ando he played a mute chef. Without language as a tool to express himself, he performed with physical movement. In particularly the eyes were very important. Ando was the first actor who joined the cast and even gladly rehearsed while practicing his Chinese. He would also study how to cook with the chef. In one scene Ando had to play a beggar. The bamboo basket that he carried scratched his entire back and made him bleed. Workers asked if he needed treatment, he had a little fun at their expense and joked that few could tell when he was playing injured . His professionalism was exceptionally high and had a positive influence on the set.

[2011.04.01] KAREN MOK THINKS SHE IS PRETTIER WITH A FACE WOUND

courtesy of takungpao.com

Karen Mok Man Wai who just returned from South Africa stayed in Hong Kong for half a day before rushing to Beijing and Shanghai to promote her upcoming Mainland film release THE LAW OF ATTRACTION. Karen and Taiwan director and actor Leon Dai for the first time officially. Although they performed in the film TEMPTING HEART (SUM DUNG) over ten years ago, they did not have any official scene together. Thus this time was considered their first collaboration. In the film they played a couple who have been married for seven years and began to have problems. The husband finally discovered his wife's affair, thus someone deliberately created an accident. Yet after the accident they were able to pick up their initial love again.

Karen said that working with Leon Dai felt great, especially because he was also the director. Before the shoot they were able to properly communicate and she was made to get into the character easier. During the passion scene they had no embarrassment and performed very naturally. Karen said, "This time I learned a lot, working with Director Dai I came out ahead. (What is the key for a couple getting along?) I am not married yet, I really don't know how to answer. However I feel they have to learn to appreciate each other, whether good or bad they have to learn to tolerate." Because Karen's character was injured in an accident, most of the time she had to put on wound make up. However she thought she was more beautiful and even joked, "Honestly, I have never seen a complete facial injury that looked so pretty."

WEEKEND PREDICTIONS APR 1-3: Hop Set to Lead Soft Weekend

Hop (Universal) is set to be #1 with almost $25 million, although this weekend the last two years has boasted top openings in the $61-71 million range.  Overall, it looks like another soft weekend of box office numbers. The well-reviewed Source Code from Summit (92% positive rating at rottentomatoes) is headed for about $15 million this weekend.  Bringing up the rear of the openers with $10-11 million is Insidious (FilmDistrict) from the Saw creative team of director James Wan and writer Leigh Whannell.  Read Mitch Salem's review of Source Code and Insidious

Before turning to the predictions for the returning movies, we want to point out a new feature, Showbuzz Basics.  You'll find a list of frequently-used terms and jargon (that we sometimes take for granted), as well as some helpful rules of thumb in box office analysis.

New Films                        Critics   Opening  Domestic
                                 Positive  Weekend  Ultimate
.
Hop                    Uni  PG     26%      $24.5     $62
Source Code         Summit  PG13   93%      $15       $47
Insidious          FilmDis  PG13   71%      $10.5     $29

Note: Although critic reviews are not related to the size of the opening weekend, they are significantly correlated with the size of the declines in the opening weeks of a movie.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules should have a fairly normal second weekend decline and should lead the returning films, probably finishing in third place overall.  Limitless and Lincoln Lawyer should continue to have better than average weekend declines for returning films.

Returning Films                  Change    Opening  Domestic
                                vs wknd 1  Weekend  Ultimate

Diary of a Wimpy Kid 2 Fox        -52%      $11.5     $73
Limitless              Rel        -33%      $10       $83
Lincoln Lawyer         LG         -27%      $8        $61
Sucker Punch           WB         -61%      $7.5      $41
Rango                  Par        -37%      $6        $129

Box Office Volume

For the past four years, the top 12 films in the comparable weekend have averaged $127 million total, ranking 22nd of 52 weeks.  But the last two years have been much higher during this weekend: $169 million April 2-4, 2010 and $149 million April 3-5, 2009.  This weekend is looking very soft: something in the $110 million range.

This Weekend the Last Two Years

The forecast model was within a few million dollars for four out of the five films opening this weekend the last two years, while Fast & Furious was vastly under-estimated.  The portion of the model that projects the ultimate domestic gross was a bit high for four of five films and has since been adjusted.  Notice the very strong international appeal of Clash of the Titans and to a lesser extent Fast & Furious.  The other films were much tougher sells overseas.

4.2.2010
Clash of the Titans (WB) Opening Weekend Forecast $65; Actual: $61
Final estimate (week 2): $170. Actual Final: $163. International: $330

Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married Too (LG) Opening Weekend Forecast $25; Actual: $29
Final estimate (week 2): $72. Actual Final: $60. International: $1

The Last Song (DIS) Opening Weekend Forecast $19; Actual: $16
Final estimate (week 2): $64. Actual Final: $63. International: $26

4.3.2009
Fast & Furious (UNI) Opening Weekend Forecast $46; Actual: $71
Final estimate (week 2): $172. Actual Final: $155. International: $188

Adventureland (MIR) Opening Weekend Forecast $9; Actual: $6
Final estimate (week 2): $24. Actual Final: $16. International: $1

Come back throughout the weekend to see how the movies actually perform.  Saturday late morning we will have an early look at how the weekend is shaping up (based on Friday's actual numbers), on Sunday we will have studio estimates (based on Friday and Saturday), and Monday we will have a complete wrap-up based on the actual full-weekend numbers.

SOURCE CODE: If At First You Don't Succeed...

Worth a ticket.

They say that the definition of madness is repeating the same action with the expectation of a different result.  But that diagnosis doesn't allow for this:  a man (Jake Gyllenhaal) wakes up and finds himself on a train, where his reflection in the mirror doesn't look like himself, and the woman in the next seat (Michelle Monaghan) who apparently knows him doesn't address him as himself.  Eight minutes later he, the girl, and the train all blow up... and the man wakes up again, to find himself seemingly in the middle of a mad government experiment (under the direction of Army officer Vera Farmiga and scientist Jeffrey Wright), his mission to find out who planted that bomb on the train by reliving the last 8 minutes of that other man's life over and over again, hunting for clues.  That's the premise of SOURCE CODE, an intriguing sci-fi action movie twist on Groundhog Day.

Although Source Code comes from director Duncan Jones, who last gave us the indie fantasy Moon (see review here), there's nothing esoteric about this genre exercise.  Ben Ripley's script isn't particularly interested in Groundhog Day-like existential comedy, either--despite its unusual premise, and the even more convoluted explanation of Gyllenhaal's actual place in the story, the picture is very much focused on solving its twin mysteries:  who bombed that train, and what's the experiment all about?  In truth, it's not all that hard to figure out either answer by the film's halfway point, but the picture is carried along by its brisk pace and the moderately clever way it works everything out.

Although Source Code doesn't have a massive budget, it's certainly many times that of Moon, and Jones handles the digital explosions and thriller mechanics effectively (having proven his prowess, it would be sad if his next move is to a mega-budgeted superhero epic).  His technical team includes the very experienced Don Burgess (Spiderman) as cinematographer and Paul Hirsch (Mission Impossible) as editor.  Gyllenhaal, whose career has bounced around, has a part that's well suited to him:  not full-fledged action hero, but Hitchcockian ordinary guy thrust into a crazy situation.  Vera Farmiga, most of the time confined to a monitor screen in Gyllenhaal's testing area, proves that she can give a full-fledged performance in a box (it's like Beckett's "Happy Days" as a genre role), but Monaghan doesn't get to do much more than look attractive and be charming, and Wright is hobbled by having to play the most cliched character.

Source Code isn't a truly satisfying puzzle movie; the last reel, in particular, doesn't stand up to much scrutiny, and it doesn't have any ambition to "mean" something.  In a year where Sucker Punch represents Hollywood's idea of action fantasy, though--it'll do.

(SOURCE CODE - Summit - PG 13 - 93 min.- Director:  Duncan Jones - Script:  Ben Ripley - Cast:  Jake Gyllenhaal, Michelle Monaghan, Vera Farmiga, Jeffrey Wright - Wide Release)

INSIDIOUS: What's That Noise?

Worth a ticket.

The director and writer of Saw, James Wan and Leigh Whannell, combine again to bring us--hey, where are you going?  No, seriously:  don't run away.  Leaving aside that Saw is rather unfairly maligned (before it became the poster child for "torture porn" and a dumb sequel machine for Lionsgate, the original film was considerably more ingenious and disturbing than most horror out there), their new movie INSIDIOUS is something quite different, a wholehearted PG-13 thrill ride salute to the classic haunted house genre.

Insidious begins as all haunted house movies must:  a nice average family (dad Patrick Wilson, mom Rose Byrne, three likable kids) moves into a house where... something isn't quite right.  Strange noises and unexplained incidents abound.  But surely it's just their imagination?  Not so much:  one of the children has an accident that puts him into a mysterious coma.  I won't spoil what happens next, but it turns out this isn't just another story about a house built on an ancient Indian burial ground.  Wan and Whannell have something more ambitious, imaginative--and silly--in mind, and the story takes some very satisfying twists before we find out what's really going on.  Along the way, there is a triumphant homage to Zelda Rubinstein and her crew in Poltergeist by way of the marvelous Lin Shaye as the head of a scientific team investigating supernatural phenomena, as well as nods to any number of horror milestones.

There's no pretext of seriousness in Insidious, but the Wan/Whannel team knows what they're doing.  (Oren Peli of Paranormal Activity is also one of the producers, making for a virtual dream team of low-budget horror.)  Insidious embraces its own idiocy without deconstructing or mocking it.  The filmmakers, like the actors, never quite give in to laughing at their own joke:  Wilson and Byrne commit to the material, and Wilson in particular looks infinitely happier here than he did in ponderous vehicles like Watchmen and Lakeview Terrace, while Barbara Hershey, as Wilson's mother, is both funnier and scarier than she was in Black SwanInsidious is a solid couple of hours of cheap entertainment, which is all it's trying to be.

(INSIDIOUS - PG13 - FilmDistrict - 102 min. - Director:  James Wan - Screenplay: Leigh Whannell - Cast:  Patrick Wilson, Rose Byrne, Lin Shaye, Barbara Hershey - Wide Release)

Known as the "Student Prince", film industry big brother Alan Tang Kwong Wing Tuesday died perhaps due to a heart attack at his home at the age of 64. Big Brother's daughters Yip Yan and Yip Wai yesterday went to identify the body. Yip Yan even asked reporters not to take photos. After half an hour, they left teary eyed and returned home. In the afternoon Chan Sin Chi helped the over 80 year old Pak Shuet Sin to the home. Later Connie Chan Bo Chu and John Chiang Dai Wai and his wife appeared. Soon, Yip Yan and Yip Wai again left home. Actually they along with Chan Suk Fun went to take care of their father's affairs at the funeral home, the details of which would be announced later.

Appearing in the public less in recent years, Tang Kwong Wing at the 2008 Lydia Shum Din Ha memorial event publicly blasted Adam Cheng Siu Chau for not fulfilling his fatherly duty and take care of Joyce Cheng Yun Yi. Yesterday Chau Guoon and Liza Wong Ming Chuen conducted final rehearsal for their New Century 2011 concert at the Hong Kong Coliseum. After 3PM, Ah Jeh with a pair of sunglasses but no make up arrived with her assistants and others . Did she hear about Tang Kwong Wing's passing? She said that she watched the news and said that they never worked together. She said, "We seem to have been in a movie but we didn't have any scene together. He was closer to Fei Jeh. I know they constantly met for dinner. Dai Soh Janet (Mrs. Tang Kwong Wing) sometimes would come to see my show. (Was the news of her passing surprising?) Yes! I always thought he was in great health, great shape!" The last time Ah Jeh saw him was last Halloween. She said, "At the time I drove past Central and suddenly three people in black caught my eyes. He, his wife and daughter were going to a party. I knew that he has always loved his family. (Did you feel he was very cool?) Yes! He studied at New Method (College), my sister went to New Method too so I paid attention. He truly was very cool, he was the Student Prince!" Chau Guoon arrived with his assistant and others at that moment. He only smiled and waved to everyone before rushing into the Hong Kong Coliseum.

In addition, director Wong Kar Wai's career rose after working on the Tang Kwong Wing invested film AS TEARS GO BY (WONG GOK KAR MOON) and DAYS OF BEING WILD (AH FEI JING JUEN). Wong Kar Wai said about his passing, "I always thought Big Brother was a healthy and happy person. Receiving this news I truly feel very surprised and sadden. He was a great friend and boss, the first who encouraged and supported me to become a director. He also shared a lot of experience with me. I would always remember her. I want to send my condolences to his family." Currently working on a series, Nancy Sit Ka Yin after receiving the news was so sad that her voice changed. She had no way to accept the news to be true. She remembered her first film with Big Brother, BUNNY GIRL (TOH NUI LONG). She played the title role and praised Big Brother was very heroic and willing to help people. She also sent her condolences to his family. Today she would return to Hong Kong and call Dai Soh.

Tang Kwong Wing's older daughter Tang Yip Yan yesterday posted online. "Nothing more could be said. Thank you everyone for your support and concern. We need persistent determination to get over the difficult times. I hope Papa's truth, honor, love and other spirits can properly live on with us. We also would continue to ignite and spread his fire of truth to this world. Papa, we love you very much!" Many artists remembered Tang Kwong Wing online. Ellen Chan Nga Lun wrote, "My dear Big Brother Tang Kwong Wing has passed away! Very sad! Too sudden, very hard to accept!" Anita Yuen Wing Yi: "Go in peace Big Brother! Dai Soh please take care!" Lam Man Chung, "Big Brother Wing in my eyes -- Tang Kwong Wing, even when he was waiting for a ride he was still cool! Big Brother, go in peace! We miss you." Peter Kam Pui Tat: "Every time I see a superstar passing, it is like a little piece of my heart fading away. Today is no exception. Tang Kwong Wing, rest in peace. I remember the days of carrying a stool in front of the television and watching you." Filmko Entertainment chair Alex Wong Hoi Fung, "Back then when Mr. Tang Kwong Wing invested in DAYS OF BEING WILD, he withstood the enormous pressure of going over time and budget, finally a classic film was made! Hopefully in Heaven he would continue to support Chinese films!" Yuen Siu Cheung: "I miss Student Prince, outstanding filmmaker, philanthropist, dog loving elder and good papa." Hins Cheung King Hin: "Life is unexpected, I just saw Big Brother on the night of the 25th at a friend's wedding banquet......Elder Tang's reputation would endure and honor would remain." Ada Choi Siu Fun: "Very sad! Miss you!" Jingle Ma Chor Sing: "Big Brother Wing has contributed a lot to film in his life, very sad! I wish you a safe journey!" In addition, Aaron Kwok Fu Sing, Chrissie Chau Sau Na, Sharon Chan Man Chi, Monica Chan Fat Yung, Stephy Tang Lai Yun, Christine Ng Wing Mei, Bondy Chiu Hok Yi and Choi Yat Chi all wished Big Brother a safe journey.

[2011.03.31] JOYCE CHENG CLARIFIES THAT SHE WAS NEVER AT ODDS WITH GOD FATHER

courtesy of mingpao.com

courtesy of takungpao.com

Yesterday Joyce Cheng Yun Yi, Liu Xuan, Chow Chung and others attended a Radio Hong Kong Elderly Famine 8 Hour promotional event. Speaking of god father Tang Kwong Wing's passing, Yun Yi like others friends and family thought it was very sudden. Two nights ago friends kept calling her. Finally God mother informed her of the news. Yun Yi said, "I thought very sudden, I didn't know God Father had heart disease. Normally he exercised, played golf, took walks and trained with weights, so it was very hard to accept." At Lydia Shum Din Ha's memorial event, Tang Kwong Wing publicly criticized Adam Cheng Siu Chau. Reportedly Yun Yi was at odds with her God Father after that. Yun Yi said, "Absolutely not, the final time I saw God Father was at God Mother's birthday party last year. Actually God Father has always been against me joining show business, but I was touched when he said if I needed a helping hand I should ask him. He definitely would help." Yun Yi honestly said that she regretted the most about not playing golf with God Father. She said, "Because God Father constantly pinched my waist, made fun of me being fat and wanted me to play golf with him to lose weight." Chow Chung and Leung Shun Yin never worked with Tang Kwong Wing, but Chow Chung at Shek Kin's funeral saw Tang Kwong Wing helping out at the altar. He thought he was very honorable. Leung Shun Yin thought that he was quite a gentleman.

The film DON't GO BREAKING MY HEART (DAN SUN NAM NUI) starred Louis Koo Tin Lok, Daniel Wu (Ng Yin Cho) and Gao Yuanyuan. The story was the older than dirt two men one women love triangle. Goo Jai played a financial genius who had a fast food attitude toward love. Instead Ng Yin Cho took love long and slow. They used a lot of tricks in order to win over Gao Yuanyuan's heart.

Goo Jai said that his character was a jerk who expressed the Post 80s and 90s fast food romance culture. The view on love was also flimsier and a huge comparison to Ng Yin Cho's character. Did Goo Jai have any good idea of getting girls? He said, "The most memorable part of the film was when Gao Yuanyuan forgot her keys. I had to climb four stories. At the time because I had a cruciate ligament injury, I had to personally climb up even if I was crippled. Luckily I finished it in two takes." Goo Jai said that the result was natural, without any "wire" or double. Was he concerned about his safety during the shoot? Goo Jai said, "Because I had to climb while delivering my lines, actually it was pretty high up. If I feel it would've been a big deal. If you are after a girl you have to be like this and be gutsy." Would he use similar ideas to get girls in reality? "In my teens I tried giving flowers on Valentine's Day, now I don't have time to do that. Instead after the computer rose in popularity, I could go online to look up ideas." Goo Jai said that he would not deliberate create romance. "When I chatted with friends, I realized that romance did not need to be created deliberately. Instead a shoulder already feels very secure. Also when together you have to know the other person's personality, naturally go with your heart then you are fine."

Gao Yuanyuan who worked with Johnnie To Kei Fung for the first time honestly said that at first she was confused about what the director was asking for. She said, "The first scene was very simple. I walk on the streets of Central. I thought of many ways to walk, after more than a dozen takes the director still didn't accept one. Finally the director taught me a gesture to perform. After a few more scenes I gradually understood what he wanted." As for working with Goo Jai, Gao Yuanyuan said, "Although we worked together on ROB B HOOD (BO BUI GAI WAT), we at the time had very little lines so at first we were more like strangers. Later To Sir took us to dinner and we gradually built a bond."
