WEEKEND PREDICTIONS: Limitless the Best of a Weak Bunch

WEEK ONE.  Limitless looks to make $14.5 million in its opening weekend, which would put it on track for $49 million domestic box office gross (57th percentile for films in the last two years).  Paul should make around $12 million on its way to $40 million (50th percentile).  Lincoln Lawyer should open with around $11 million, on course for $39 million (49th percentile).

WEEK TWO.  Battle: Los Angeles should decline 52% to a soft #1 at $17 million, making it a $94 million movie (78th percentile).  Red Riding Hood should drop 50% to $7 million, on track for $35 million (45th percentile).  And Mars Needs Moms should drop a kid-friendly 37% to $4.5 million, on course for $20 million (25th percentile).

WEEK THREE.  Rango should decline 34% to $15 million, on its way to $126 million (86th percentile).  The Adjustment Bureau should drop 40% to $7 million, on track for $69 million (69th percentile).

WEDNESDAY NUMBERS.  Battle: Los Angeles holds at #1 with $2.4 million declining 21% from Tuesday (steeper than the average 15% drop on day six for March movies the past two years).  Red Riding Hood stays at #3 with $1.4 million and an 18% decline.  Mars Needs Moms also declines 18% to $0.77 million, holding at 5th place.

In day 13, Rango holds at #2 with $2.2 million, dropping 12% (similar the average 11% decline for March movies in their second Wednesday).   The Adjustment Bureau declines a weak 18% to $1.0 million, holding the #4 spot.

Tomorrow look for how the model has performed this weekend the last two years, how the total box office volume the past few weeks compares to weekly norms, and Thursdays numbers.
