The Sked: TUESDAY RATINGS October 18

Airing on a special night (because of the World Series tonight), The X Factor scored another nightly victory for FOX with a 3.8 Adult 18-49 rating in the fast nationals.  Expect the rating to go up to a 3.9 or even 4.0 in the official nationals, which would put the Simon Cowell singing competition show in line with its Wednesday and Thursday performances.  This high-3 rating is in line with what Glee/New Girl/Raising Hope was settling into before the baseball postseason disruptions.

CBS came in second place with a 3.2 rating for the night, the same as last week's number.  NCIS (3.8 rating) is down 0.2 from last week, but Unforgettable (which was the top promo priority this past week) is up 0.2 from last week to a 2.5.  (Unforgettable's track: 2.9...2.5...2.5...2.3...2.5.)

ABC averaged a 2.4 last night, down a sharp 0.5 from last week.  Last Man Standing declined a full 0.6 from last week to a 3.0 in its second week.  While a decline from a premiere is usually expected, the show really needs to stabilize at this 3 rating level to be considered a hit.  At 8:30, Man Up! debuted with a 2.4 rating.  An 80% retention for an 8:30 show is okay in most cases, but given the heavy promotional support this has to be a little disappointing.  Nevertheless, the two shows are running ahead of what was in the time period this night last year: No Ordinary Family (2.2).   Dancing with the Stars Results fell back below a three (to a 2.6) after last week's atypical 3.3 rating.   Body of Proof continues to underperform with a 1.9.

NBC is still in the 2-rating business on Tuesday, a 1.9 for The Biggest Loser and a 2.0 for Parenthood.  Guest stars Cee Lo Green and Jason Ritter did not bring viewers rushing to the set to watch the family drama.
