Director: Robert Wise (The Sound of Music, The Haunting <1963>, The Andromeda Strain)
Cast: Michael Rennie, Patricia Neal, Billy Gray, Sam Jaffe
USA, 1951
Seen: August 14, 2006 thanks to Rogers Direct
Reason to see: It's on my 101 list of films I can't believe I haven't seen, and I selected it as its on imdb's top 250, and its a classic SciFi film I have not seen.
I love films of this time. I parked myself with healthy bowl of popcorn and a piping hot tea to enjoy this classic and enjoy it I did. It was different than I expected, felt akin more to drama than SciFi some of the time but in a very charming Star Trek original series meets Twilight Zone kind of way. This is another plot based film so it's not easy to describe it without... well describing it! It's a great story with unusual connecting characters and strong dramatic sense. I'm thrilled that I put this one on my list.
Shannon's Overall View:
I thought it was great!
I'd watch it again - especially if it was a Sunday afternoon
I'd recommend it, and most certainly to fans of classics & SciFi
