"Student Prince" Alan Tang Kwong Wing's cremation ceremony took place yesterday around 3PM. Around 10 in the morning, his wife Janet Yim Siu Ping, elder daughter Tang Yip Yan and younger daughter Tang Yip Wai wore traditional white funeral clothing and sunglasses to the Hong Kong Funeral Home. Then over a hundred friends and family members arrived, they included John Chiang Dai wai, Joyce Cheng Yun Yi, May Law Mei Mei, Pak Shuet Sin, Chan Sin Chi, Jacky Cheung Hok Yau, Wong Kar Wai, Ho Lai Chuen, Tong Tong, So Si Wong, Choi Yat Chi and his wife, Sandy Lam San San, Choi Yat Kit, Chiu Sai Tsang, Cheung Yiu Wing, On Tak Chuen, Sharon Kwok Sau Wan, Andrew Lau Wai Keung, Wong Ha Wai and others. Many monks were still on hand to chant for Big Brother as his family and friends chanted along for Big Brother's passing.

The ceremony began around 11AM. According to the funeral committee distributed documentary short film, outside the altar were many photos of Big Brothers with a pair of banners that complimented Big Brother. The film also had his daughters giving eulogies. Younger daughter Tang Yip Wai tearfully said, "Papa this time passed without any preparation and very reluctantly, but he was very fulfilled. When we were born he was next to Mama, as such a filial Papa, he chose to pass away next to Grandma. When he went he even wanted to raise his hand to tell Grandma to lie down. Even his final words were telling Grandma to eat more and be nice. As he passed Papa still thought of his family, he was a very responsible man!"

Elder daughter Tang Yip Yan said, "Perhaps he now has just gone to another realm from us and left early to take care of everything first, waiting for us to have a chance to meet again in the future. Actually we have to thank him." After she was done she was already in tears. Before the official ceremony began, Kwok Sau Wan arranged for three white lions to bow three times in front of the coffin then began the drums and the gongs to send Big Brother on his final journey. The entire ceremony took around a hour. Around 2PM under monk chants, Tang Yip Wai stepped out with Big Brother's photo, then Yim Siu Ping, Tang Yip Yan, Law Mei Mei, Cheng Yun Yi and others followed. All were sadden with tissues in hand to wipe away their tears. Law Mei Mei and Yun Yi after helping the mother and the daughters into their vehicle got into a bus to depart for the crematorium. At this time Hok Yau left. He said that because he was busy with his concert he was unable to attend the cleansing banquet. After the cremation ceremony he had to rush back to the Hong Kong Coliseum.

The hearse was decorated with white flowers. Before leaving three white lions again kowtowed toward the hearse. After 2:30PM the hearse arrived at the crematorium. Under the leadership of the master of ceremony Tang Yip Yan left the vehicle with her father's photo. Tang Yip Wai carried his memorial tablet. Yim Siu Ping followed. Around 3PM the farewell drums and gongs sounded and everyone's cry of "Papa, Big Brother" could be heard. After the ceremony, everyone came from the backdoor to cross over the flaming basin and wash their hands. Tang Yip Wai carried her father's photo while Tang Yip Yan left in the company of Law Mei Mei.
Yim Siu Ping was again in tears. Yun Yi was also obviously heart broken, as she shook her head and declined media interview requests.

After all the ceremonies, six buses headed to the Shatin Hyatt Hotel for the cleansing banquet. Big Brother's good friend Wu Fung revealed that chanting continued there as many friends gave eulogies. His daughters also thanked their father for always taking care of them. Many were moved to tears after hearing. He of course cried too. How was Dai Soh? Wu Fung said, "Mrs. Tang only sat and listened. She didn't have anything to say. Almost 100 people went to console Dai Soh. (She still couldn't accept it?) Of course she couldn't accept it, they were such a great couple and he was so young. As a friend even I couldn't accept it. (Did you see them while they were dating?) No, his film peak was in Taiwan." Wu Fung revealed that they would continue to conduct ceremonies but had little idea what would actually take place. Right now Yun Yi was in OK mood and Law Mei Mei spoke. What was the most memorable about Big Brother? Wu Fung said, "I remember taking him to a night club. At the time we were still very young, and back then night clubs were for dining, singing and dancing. We even had to bring our own companions. They weren't like they are now." Wu Fung also said that he was uncertain where Big Brother's ashes will be. Also, in Big Brother's memorial short film, Big Brother's favorite English songs accompanied the first half. When the film reached the photos with his friends, the music changed to Big Brother's performance of THE END OF TOMORROW. Photos included Lydia Shum Din Ha, Jackie Chan, Anita Mui Yim Fong, Chiang Dai Wai, Pak Shuet Sin, Patrick Tse Yin and Yun Yi as a child, as well as his daughters and intimate photos with his beloved wife.

Film industry big brother Alan Tang Kwong Wing at the end of last month passed away due to heart disease at the age of 64. His family yesterday began funeral services at the Hong Kong Funeral Home and invited Taiwan Chung Tai Chan Monastery monks to chant scriptures for him. Big Brother's altar was decorated in white, with three golden Buddha statues from Taiwan in the middle. Big Brother's wife and daughters chose the photo of Big Brother sitting a chair in a suit, looking dapper. They hoped that everyone would always remember the most just and heroic side of Big Brother in their hearts. The daughters also in another corner displayed valuable photos of Big Brother from youth to middle age, with the words "Mighty, Kind" for everyone to remember him by.

Around noon television coverage teams were on hand. Big Brother's family and two god daughters May Law Mei Mei and Joyce Cheng Yun Yi arrived before 2PM. Around 3PM Jenny Tseng (Yen Nei), Linda Wong Hing Ping, Joseph Koo Ka Fai and Sharon Kwok Sau Wan arrived. Then more than a dozen monks arrived to prepare chanting for Big Brother. Over 100 family and friends attended the ceremony, with over 200 kulapati under the leadership of the master of the ceremony chanted for Big Brother. After the ceremony, the monks left at 5PM. Then Yen Nei with the help of Pauline Wong Yuk Wan left tearfully; however she still was willing to stop for a media interview. She said that she and Big Brother have known each other for a long time. Big Brother in her heart was very righteous Big Brother who has always very strongly taken care of the little people. Has Big Brother taken care of her? She said, "I am more independent, but Big Brother took care of me as well. We were very family, like family. Before my husband's death, we would often meet. In my impression he is a handsome guy."

Martial art school operator Kwok Sau Wan before leaving revealed that today she would arrange for several white lions to pay their respect to Big Brother before the funeral. When asked how Big Brother's widow was, she only said that many people were heart broken because Big Brother left too suddenly. Big Brother's friend John Chiang Dai Wai revealed that the chanting ceremony was very solemn. Today he along with Ho Lai Chuen would be among eight pallbearers. The funeral will take place at 10AM. The coffin closing ceremony at 11AM will be conducted by Chung Tai Chan Monastery's Master. At noon Big Brother's remains will be transported to the crematorium.

Big Brother in life had many friends and many of them came to pay their respect. They included Sammo Hung Kam Bo, Jackie Chan, Patrick Tse Yin, Willie Chan Chi Keung, Liza Wang Ming Chuen, Mona Fong Yat Wa, Stephen Chan Chi Wan, Yen Nei, Elaine Lok Yi Ling, Margie Tsang Wa Sin, Pak Shuet Sin, Peter Lam Kin Ngok, Jimmy Wang Yu, Michael Hui Koon Man, Wu Fung and his wife, Andrew Lau Wai Keung and his wife and others. Chow Yun Fat, Leon Lai Ming, Nicholas Tse Ting Fung and Cecilia Cheung Pak Chi, Cally Kwong Mei Wan, Louise Lee Sze Kei and others sent floral arrangements, around 200 of which filled both sides of the street. At 7PM, Brother Four and Chan Chi Keung left and Chan Chi Keung stopped to speak with reporters. He sighed, "a brother of over 20 years, I really miss him. He truly was very loyal and great to his daughter. He was so strong, I never thought that he would go first." Then he was teary eyed as he said that Big Brother left very peacefully, but he did not take a final look as he was at the Tang home when Big Brother passed. At the time he saw Big Brother was as peaceful as he was sleeping, which was fortunate. As for Mrs. Tang, he said that she of course was upset, luckily her daughters were by her side.

To remember Big Brother, his daughters Yip Yan and Yip Wai produced a memorial program for him. The black program had the word Tang in silver, with Big Brother handsome black and white photos, family photos and valuable photos with friends in the industry. Big Brother's surviving family, Yun Yi, Law Mei Mei and Jacky Cheung Hok Yau all wrote eulogies to remember Big Brother. His wife wrote, "For the love of my life husband Alan, you brought me endless joyful memories and a pair of lovable and filial daughters. I will properly take care of myself and live on, you don't need to worry. Go in peace, one day our family will reunite in Heaven. Remember you always! Wife Janet"

Law Mei Mei in her writing revealed that she called Big Brother "Old Man" for 21 years already. In 1990 she and Big Brother made RETURN ENGAGEMENT (JOI JIN GONG WU), on and off screen they addressed each other as father and daughter. She never imagined that after the shoot they still kept in contact and continued this destiny. She said, "Before meeting your family, I never knew that a family could be so complete, fortunate, happy and warm." She also said that she was afraid to sit next to Big Brother and his wife because they would spare no energy into filling his belly. Once at Mother Tang's birthday, that night they had 15 dishes, Big Brother and his wife of course did not forget to fill her plate. Finally after the meal her stomach ached until four in the morning. All the food that she ate that night was enough for her to hibernate for a month. "Old Man, perhaps in the hearts of many was a righteous, just, solemn, respected Big Brother, but in my heart you were always a humorous, lovable, kind good father who is worthy of respect and love!"

Known as "Student Prince", Alan Tang Kwong Wing last week passed away due to heart disease. Yesterday was Big Brother's first 7 and his family and friends including Chan Suk Fun and her son Chan Ka Ho went to his home. Everyone prepared some items for first 7. The garden also had a lot of paper offering.

Tang Kwong wing's wife and daughters yesterday along with friends and family conducted the first 7 ceremony for Big Brother at the Hong Kong Funeral Home and prayed for him. Big Brother's elder daughter Tang Yip Yan said that friends and family also came, but the pall bearer list has not yet been set. Would the Performing Artist Guild assist? She said, "Thank you." Many Big Brother's friends attended the ceremony. They included John Chiang Dai Wai, Joyce Cheng Yun Yi, Jacky Cheung Hok Yau and May Law Mei Mei, Connie Chan Bo Chu, Yang Tin King, Yeung Chiu Sing, Philip Chan Yun Kin and his daughter.

Chan Yun Kin pointed out that yesterday many friends came to pray for Big Brother. Reporters saw friends and family with lucky charms, was this a secret service? He denied that and said that Big Brother's services will take place on the 14th and the 15th. He pointed out that Mrs. Tang was very heart broken. Perhaps everything reminded her of him, every time an old friend came she would cry. Chan Yun Kin pointed out that Big Brother in his heart was a real leader and praised Big Brother as a very loyal person. His passing was truly too sudden. He hoped that his family would be able to live on strongly.

In addition, Radio and Television Hong Kong produced a special WE MISS ALAN TANG special in memory of this forever "Student Prince" and described the source of the nickname Big Brother. In an interview from 1995 or 96, Big Brother said that when he was little he was called Wing Jai, but he did not know when everyone started calling him Big Brother. Big Brother has been in the business for several decades and made countless films. His co-stars were all beauties. His favorite film was Joe Cheung Tung Cho's RETURN ENGAGEMENT (JOI JIN GONG WU) and FLAMING BROTHERS (GONG WU LUNG FU MOON), in RETURN ENGAGEMENT he and Law Mei Mei played father and daughter. Among his film company distributions, his favorite was AS TEARS GO BY (WONG GOK KA MOON), not DAYS OF BEING WILD (AH FEI JING JUEN).

Big Brother also pointed out that his father operated many theaters in the Mainland and saw many opera actors' life habits. Thus he was extremely opposed to him entering show business. In his movies his co-stars were all beauties like Brigitte Lin (Lam Ching Ha) and Brigitte Lin (Lam Ching Ha), but rarely had many rumor. He honestly said that as soon as he got into character he would love his co-star very much, but he would remind himself not to do "anything else". Speaking of his married life, he said that when two people got together they needed time to adjust and be tested. No one could be right all the time Unless they were intended on signing divorce papers, they wanted to maintain the relationship they had to keep the other's feeling in mind.
